Gold rates up by Rs.2,900 to Rs 235,500 per tola

ISLAMABAD, Aug 25 (APP):The per tola price of 24 karat gold increased by Rs.2,900 and was sold at Rs.235,500 as compared to its sale at Rs.232,600 the previous day.
The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also increase by Rs.2,486 to Rs.201,903 from Rs 199,417 whereas the rates of 10 gram 22 karat went up to Rs185,078 from Rs 182,799, the All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported.
The price per tola silver increased by Rs.50 and was sold at Rs1,850 against its sale at Rs 2,800 whereas that of ten gram silver went up by Rs.42.87 to Rs.2,443.41 from Rs 2,400.54.
The price of gold in the international market increased by $4 to $1,919 from $1,915, the Association reported.

DC visits flood affected areas in Bahawalpur Sadar

BAHAWALPUR, Aug 25 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Zaheer Anwar Jappa on Friday visited the Mangwani Patan and Lala Dera areas of Bahawalpur Sadar tehsil and reviewed the flood situation
On this occasion, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur Sadar Mujahid Abbas and District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Baqir Hussain were also present.
The deputy commissioner directed that the people of the area should immediately move to a safe place. He said that flood relief camps have been established with the help of district administration and facilities have also been provided for accommodation.
Medical and veterinary camps are active in the flood relief camps. Later, Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Anwar Jappa inspected the flood relief camp established at Government High School Dera Bakha.
He checked the stock of medicines in the medical camp. He was informed that a medical officer and paramedical staff were performing their duties in the medical camp. The Deputy Commissioner also visited the veterinary camp and inspected the food and medicines supply for livestock treatment.

5 suspects, 10 alleged wanted accused arrested

KOHAT, Aug 25 (APP)::As many as five suspects and 10 alleged wanted accused in different crimes were arrested by the Kohat Police during search and strike operation in Kohat, Jangal Khel, and Afghan refugee camps, District Police Officer Farhan Khan said here Friday.
He disclosed that five suspects and 10 accused were arrested during the search operation. During the operation, weapons and drugs were recovered from the possession of the arrested persons. Among the weapons and drugs seized are a klakov, 4 pistols, 475 grams of ice, and hundreds of cartridges.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of DSP Headquarters Muhammad Nawab Khan and SHO Jangal Khel Ruman Khan along with a Police Force.
All the persons arrested in the search and strike operation have been shifted to Jangal Khel Police Station for investigation. Cases have been registered in Jangal Khel police station against the arrested criminals.

CHITRAL, Aug 25 (APP):The hide and seek between clouds and sun with moderate to erratic rainfalls over Kalash valley known for unique culture heritage and primitive history, take tourists into the lap of serenity after visiting the Lower Chitral district during monsoon season.
The cultural programs on beat drums amid blossom of seasonal flowers at picturesque Kalash valley surrounded by lush green mountains of Bumbret, Rumbur and Birir valleys leave an inerasable imprint on the minds of thousands of visitors every year. Carrying a unique language, custom, dresses and culture, Kalasha vibrant festivals, ancient rituals and colorful tradition bring people of all areas’ closers besides promoting cultural tourism in Chitral.
“Chitral is my favorite tourist place due to its better climate condition, Klasha culture and people’s hospitality. My visit to Chitral remained incomplete without visiting the beautiful Kalash Valley to see its live cultural festivals,” said Manzoorul Haq, former ambassador of Pakistan while talking to APP on Friday.
He said, “Kalash valley is more than just a tourists’ destination but a voyage of centuries old tradition believed to be started during an era of Alexander the Great that impressed me the most. Besides its ancient cultural rituals and customs, Kalash’s vibrant live festivals, musical programs and colorful traditions strengthen bonds of warmth and friendship besides allowing tourists to explore its nearby snow-clad mountain peaks, especially of Trich Mir and Rakaposhi.
He said Kalash culture was the identity of Chitral and Govt patronage for the development of its road infrastructure and establishment of camping pods would help bolster culture tourism here.
Manzoor also underscored the need to highlight Kalasha culture through digital and social media so that more tourists especially from foreign countries could come here which would benefit the people of Chitral economically.
By promoting infrastructure at Kalash valley, he said tourists’ load on Kalam, Kumrat, Malam Jabba, Galayat and Murree would be reduced and people of Chitral especially of Kalash and Bumbrarat would be largely benefited.
Bakhtzada Khan, senior research officer, Museums and Archeology Department KP told APP that the history of Kalasha tribe was very primitive and carried significance in Asian history.“ The people of Wadi e Kalash were considered an ancient people of Asia whose elders migrated to Chitral and settled here at Hindu Kush mountains range believed during the era of Alexander the Great.
He said there are many myths about the origin of the Kalash people and mostly it was believed that they were the descendants of Alexander the Great’s army. Another tale is about their ancestors migrating to Chitral from the land of Tsiyam – the original home place of the Kalash people, which they keep referring to in their folk songs.
To preserve the ancient art and culture of Kalasha tribe, he said work on Kalasha Dur Museum in Chitral started in 2001 and was completed in 2005. “There are about 1300 to 1500 objects exhibited in the museum which are of Ethnological interest from the Kalasha tradition and from the traditions of the wider Hindu Kush area.”
On the ground floor of the museum, he said Ethnological collection of Kalasha culture besides primitive dresses, weapons and agricultural tools of Kalash women and men were kept preserved while a school of Kalasha culture with a library of books written on the valley’s significance and local artist work were housed in the second floor.
In addition to traditional weapons made of stones, metals and wood, the Museum has a great collection of other artefacts used by the Kalasha people for hunting and self-defense purposes.
Kalasha Museum also houses a vast collection of agricultural tools, which reminds the visitors about its glorious culture, history, and innovative changes in tool-making techniques.
A tourist could not remain unimpressed after seeing the indigenous dresses of the Kalasha tribe at the museum. Various musical instruments used over centuries are also put on display in the Museum besides tabla, sarangi, sahnai, tambura etc. Besides the rare photographs, he said the museum has film rolls, journals, books, sculptures, maps, documents, and materials related to Kalasha Dur Chitral.
 Bakhtzada said the Kalasha tribe’s primitive dresses of both men and women are very special because it is not just traditional dresses but also an expression of the cultural identity of the Kalasha tribe.
 Besides other small events, he said three major festivals were organized by people of Kalash every year who enjoy dancing to traditional musical beats in these yearly events that attract tourists from across the country.

Secretary Agriculture S.Punjab visits cotton fields in Yazman, Cholistan

BAHAWALPUR, Aug 25 (APP):Secretary Agriculture South Punjab Saqib Ali Ateel here on Friday visited different areas of Tehsil Yazman and Cholistan to inspect the cotton fields. He inspected the exhibition plots of cotton planted under IPM in Chak 68 DB and two cotton blocks of 500 acres in Cholistan.
The farmers told the Secretary that while implementing IPM practices for cotton management, bio-extracts had been used to control harmful insects.
The 15 mounds per acre of cotton have been produced from the first harvest of the season, they told and added that the overall condition of the crop was very good and 45 mounds per acre production was expected.
The Secretary said that the importance of this area had increased due to the increase in cotton area in Cholistan. This year, cotton has been cultivated on an area of 253,600 acres in Cholistan.
The dry season of Cholistan is proving to be very good for cotton cultivation. Due to this, the pest pressure is naturally low and the crop is proving profitable for the farmers, he said and added, the field staff of the Agriculture Department and other departments are performing their duties and guiding the farmers for better care of cotton in Cholistan.
The Secretary Agriculture South Punjab said that the cotton crop had entered an important phase and farmers must do water scouting regularly for cotton irrigation.

Madad Ali Sindhi directs to repair facilities in IMCG, Saidpur Village

ISLAMABAD, Aug 25 (APP): Caretaker Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Madad Ali Sindhi Friday issued directives to repair various infrastructures and related facilities in Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG), Saidpur Village.

During a surprise visit to IMCG, Saidpur Village, Madad Ali Sindhi expressed concern over the poor condition of the washrooms and water facilities during his visit to the school.

The minister directed the concerned Area Education Officer to issue a show cause notice and ordered that all the facilities especially, the water and washroom be repaired within two days.

The minister instructed that the development projects of the Public Sector Development Programme should be completed immediately. He also directed to construct the new classrooms to manage the increased number of students.

He emphasized that the transfers and postings of teachers should be strictly in accordance with the law.
He said that teachers should not be transferred or posted on the administrative side and they must do their work.

Madad Ali Sindhi asked questions from the students of Pakistan Studies and expressed satisfaction over their responses.

Encouraging the students, the minister said that it was a very good thing that students have knowledge about Pakistan.

The minister was shocked to hear that there was neither a finance officer nor a janitor in the school.

PTV to air news, programmes in Khowar language

PESHAWAR, Aug 25 (APP): General Manager (GM) Pakistan Television Aurangzeb Afridi on Friday said apart from news in PTV National Peshawar, the television will also start telecasting programmes in the Khowar language soon.

He said that besides Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan, there are people who speak and understand Khowar in Central Asia and telecasting programmes in the language will promote the culture of those people.

He was talking to the Coordinator of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Sartaj Ahmed Khan, who called on him along with eminent businessman Haji Mehboob Azam regarding programmes in Khowar language.

They thanked Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Ghulam Murtaza Solangi, Managing Director (MD) PTV for meeting the standing demand of giving space to the Khowar language in the television programmes.

Coordinator FPCCI, Sartaj Ahmed Khan said that Chitral has a unique place in terms of its unique culture, literature and beauty, which has not been explored yet by anyone, now The business community along with PTV will jointly work for its exploration.

On the occasion, Haji Mehboob Azam also assured to play his full role in the promotion of Khowar language.
