ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Monday forecast mainly hot and dry weather for most plain areas of the country during the next 24 hours.
However, rain-wind/thundershower is expected at few places in Kashmir and its adjoining areas.
According to the synoptic situation, a westerly wave was still affecting upper parts of the country and likely to move eastwards during next 24 hours.
During the last 24 hours, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the country.
However, rain-wind/thundershower occurred in Islamabad, Potohar region, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir.

The highest maximum temperatures recorded in Dalbandin 42 C, Dadu, Khairpur and Shaheed Benazirabad 41 C.
ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Monday directed the authorities concerned to accelerate the realisation of identified projects by capitalising the enabling environment already achieved through Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
The prime minister was chairing the 4th Apex Committee Meeting of SIFC – the inaugural meeting under the caretaker government – to continue positive impetus under the Council.
The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff, entire federal cabinet, chief ministers, provincial ministers and high-level government officials.
The meeting was given a wholesome review of SIFC initiatives encompassing progress in key areas and benchmarks achieved thus far in a short span of time.
Prime Minister Kakar appreciated the efficient functioning of SIFC through a collaborative “Whole of Government Approach” for achieving horizontal and vertical synergy.
The Apex Committee appreciated SIFC’s outreach strategy to achieve global traction and ongoing engagements with brotherly / friendly countries including productive visits of high-level delegations from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS).
The Apex Committee expressed confidence on SIFC initiatives and displayed its resolve and support in maintaining the positive trajectory towards revival of the country’s economy.
The body also endorsed the projects, approved by previous government, for attracting investments in key sectors of agriculture, livestock, mining, minerals, information technology and energy.
The army chief reaffirmed Pakistan Army’s all-out support to caretaker government for continuity of policies in a bid to revive country’s economy and steer Pakistan towards progress and prosperity.
ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) on Monday conducted E-Kachehri to address the grievances of the beneficiaries, in order to improve service delivery.
This virtual event aims to directly engage with beneficiaries and address their concerns in real-time, reinforcing BISP’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.
The E-Kachehri, received an overwhelming response from beneficiaries all across the country.
This enthusiastic participation underscored the importance of such platforms for the people who rely on the vital support provided by BISP.
During the E-Kachehri, Addl. Secretary Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Dr. Muhammad Tahir Noor and his team tried to promptly address the majority of the complaints.
For the remaining grievances that required further attention, he directed the relevant authorities to ensure their resolution within one day, further emphasizing BISP’s commitment to responsive governance.
The BISP, through its flagship initiative Benazir Kafaalat, provides quarterly financial assistance of Rs 9,000 to nine million registered beneficiary families.
Additionally, registered families also benefit from stipends under the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif and Benazir Nashonuma Programme, which collectively contribute to improving the socio-economic conditions of the most vulnerable segments of society.

It is essential to note that official communication from the BISP only originates from the number 8171.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority ( PEMRA) on Monday held bidding for auction of cable television network rights for five cities including Taxila, Chua Saden Shah, Fateh Jang, Hazro and Pindi Gheb.
In the bidding, Multi Cable Network won rights for Taxila and Wah Cantt, while for Chua Saden Shah, IJWA Friends Network was awarded license.
For Fateh Jang, Hazro and Pindi Gheb, Seven Stars Cable was awarded license after successful bidding.
Senior officials of PEMRA including Senior Director General ( Operations and Distribution), Javed Iqbal, DG Finance Shameem Gul Durrani, DG Operations, Media Muhammad Tahir, DG Licencing ( Broadcast Media), Tariq Mehmood and DG Licencing ( Distribution) Junaid Nagi were present during the bidding.
ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): Pakistan’s cricket greats Monday took to social media to congratulate javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem for winning silver medal in he World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary on late Sunday.
The 26-year-old Arshad, who finished second in the event, became the very first athlete from Pakistan to claim a medal in the history of the competition.
Arshad, the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, made the nation proud with his season-best throw of 87.82m in his third attempt, which immediately saw him take the second position. India’s Neeraj Chopra won gold medal with a big throw of 88.17m.
Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch secured bronze with his best throw of 86.67m.
Former Skipper Wasim Akram commended Arshad for his feat and termed it “worth more than a gold.”
“Take a bow Arshad Nadeem… the whole Pakistan is celebrating your silver medal … worth more than a gold … in World Athletics Championship.
“Why I said it’s worth more than a gold is that you don’t get the top level facilities other athletes get, but you still excelled. So pleasing that we are celebrating achievement other than in cricket!,”Wasim said on the social media messaging platform X, previously known as twitter.
Foremer captain Shahid Afridi hailed Arshad for his remarkable show. “Congratulations to ArshadNadeem on securing the silver medal at the World Athletics Championship! Your exceptional performance and dedication have earned you a well-deserved place on the podium. Pakistan celebrates your incredible achievement!,” he said in a message on X.
Former pacer Wahab Riaz lauded Arshad for clinching silver medal despite suffering injuries in the recent past.
“Despite the injuries and with limited resources, Arshad has once again proven what a superstar he is. Our first ever medal at the World Athletics Championships. Pakistan is super proud of you ,” he said in his congratulatory remarks on X.
Fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf in a video message, congratulated Arshad on his achievement.
“Arshad, congratulations on winning the medal,” said Shaheen. “It’s a proud moment for Pakistan. You deserve all the recognition. I congratulate you on this incredible achievement,” Haris said.
Star cricketer Shadab Khan said the entire nation was proud of Arshad.
“I just want to say that I am your fan,” Shadab wrote on X. Pakistan’s woman cricketer Javeria Khan lauded Arshad for putting in sheer hard work to earn the medal.
“People like Arshad remind us and the system time and again that if we invest where it is needed, then there is no one stopping us,” she said in her message on X.
“Arshad is a league of his own. Time to give him, what he deserves. Thank you for raising Pakistan’s flag high and higher,” she added.
“You are our pride. You prove it time and again,” former Shoaib Akhtar wrote on X.
