Man shot dead, murderers arrested

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Aug 29 (APP):One person was shot dead while he was irrigating his fields in  Bhutaiser area  of Paroa Police’s jurisdiction , said a police spokesman on Tuesday.
He said that a persons namely Karam Nawaz lodged a report with the police that his brother  Qayyum Baloch was watering his crops near Bhutaise when Abdul Sattar and Mutti Ullah killed dead.
A police team took immediate action and arrested the accused besides recovering  weapon from them.

Sugars smuggling bid foiled, 8000 bags of sugar seized in Shiran: SP

QUETTA, Aug 29 (APP):Superintendent of Police (SP) Shirani, Mir Manzoor Ahmed Buledi on Tuesday said that on special directive of IG of Police Balochistan, actions were being taken against sugars smugglers and 8000 sacks of sugars were recovered from 15 trucks at Dhanasar check post.
He expressed these views while talking to media persons here.
The SP said that during the operation, a huge quantity of sugar had been recovered from the trucks and all the  drivers could not present any official permit to the staff and the commodity was being smuggled to Afghanistan.
He said that the sugar was handed over to Customs authorities for further investigation.
SP Sherani said that search operation was going on in the border areas to control the sugar crisis across the country which price was increased due to smuggling to the neighbor country.
 He reiterated that he would never allow traffickers to create problems for the public, strict measures would be taken to prevent smuggling for interest of public.
The SP said that officials involved in smuggling or negligence would be removed and departmental action would be initiated against them.

The highest maximum temperature 36 centigrade and the lowest minimum 26 centigrade were recorded during the last 24 hours.

Authorities directed to safeguard schools’ infrastructure in flood-prone areas

MULTAN, Aug 29 (APP):Secretary School Education for South Punjab, Rana Saleem Ahmad Khan, directed the officials to take all possible measures to safeguard schools vulnerable to flooding in Sutlej river.
He was addressing a conference at Civil Secretariat here on Tuesday. The Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of respective districts have been tasked with ensuring comprehensive protection against water-related damages by implementing robust measures.
The conference was participated by key education stakeholders, including Additional Secretary Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, Deputy Secretaries Khawaja Mazharul Haque Saifur Rahman Khan , DPI (Secondary) South Punjab Zahida Batul, DPI (Elementary) Parvez Iqbal, and other officials.
The Secretary emphasized the paramount importance of restoring damaged school structures and providing essential amenities. He underscored the necessity of proactive measures to avert flood-induced harm, highlighting effective communication with the district administrations concerned. He stressed the need for an enhanced coordination mechanism with relevant authorities to bolster preparedness.
The Secretary praised the South Punjab’s educational achievements, noting exceptional performance in Matriculation and Ninth Examinations as well as enrollment rates surpassing the rest of Punjab. Saleem attributed this success to dedicated team-work and the relentless efforts of education officers and teachers. However, he urged districts lagging in test results and enrollment to address these concerns with special attention.
In the conference, discussions revolved around various education-related matters, including the establishment of a Cadet College in Multan, student council elections, distribution of the Green Book in schools, progress on the Miyawaki Jungle project, examination results for Matric and 9th, scheduling of the school hockey league, preparations for school Olympics, and enhancement of sports facilities. Notably, selected government schools in Districts Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh and Dera Ghazi Khan exhibited commendable performance during the summer break.
The Secretary urged the continuation of the online publication of the Roshni magazine, aimed at fostering reading and writing skills among students. He announced the forthcoming School’s Olympics Games, scheduled for November this year. Bahawalpur is set to host Season 3, with a directive to CEOs to ensure timely maintenance and leveling of sports fields, and the inclusion of cricket in this edition.
Furthermore, Secretary Rana Saleem Khan highlighted UNICEF’s initiative to monitor schools catering to the Subh-e- Nau community and emphasized increasing enrollment in these schools.
 The conference extensively covered topics such as SIS enrollment status, enrollment campaign targets, education quality enhancement, and more.
The conference showcased the commitment of South Punjab’s education sector in ensuring robust infrastructural protection, continuous improvement in academic performance, and comprehensive inclusion initiatives to advance education for all.

Electricity worth Rs184.4 million in 7 months in FESCO region

FAISALABAD, Aug 29 (APP):Electricity worth Rs.184.4 million was stolen in the FESCO region in the last seven months.
The FESCO spokesman said here on Wednesday that 5.733 million units of electricity was stolen during the first seven months of the current year. “Electricity worth Rs.67.4 million was stolen from Faisalabad second circle whereas power worth Rs.51.8 million was pilfered in Jhang Circle. Similarly, electricity worth Rs.26.1 million was stolen from Sargodha circle, electricity worth Rs.25.5 million from Mianwali circle and worth Rs.13.6 million from Faisalabad first circle,” he added.
He said that Chief Executive Officer (CEO) FESCO Engineer Bashir Ahmed had taken strict notice when the Customer Services & Commercial Department presented its report. He directed to immediately activate intelligence teams and task forces to curb power pilferage. Hence, FESCO teams were activated with a clear-cut task to take action against power thieves by paying surprise visits even in far-flung rural areas during night hours for complete eradication of electricity theft from the region.
Power theft is a national crime which not only inflicts colossal losses to the company but also creates numerous problems in providing an uninterrupted power supply and quality service to consumers, he added.

Martyred constable laid to rest

SIALKOT, Aug 29 (APP):The funeral prayer of police constable Inzamam-ul-Haq was offered at the Police Lines here on Tuesday.
He had been martyred on Monday night in a shoot-out with suspects. Deputy Commissioner Adnan Mehmood Awan, District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Hasan Iqbal, President District Bar Association Maqsood Bhatti, Pakistan Army officers, local judiciary officials, lawyers, policemen, a large number of people from different walks of life including families of martyrs participated.

12 illegal arm holders arrested

RAWALPINDI, Aug 29 (APP):The police here on Tuesday arrested 12 illegal outlaws and recovered arms, ammunition from their possession during crackdown.
According to police spokesman, Waris Khan police recovered 1 pistol  30 bore from Khalid Khan and 1 pistol  30 bore was recovered from Salman.
Similarly, RA Bazar police held three illegal accused namely  Hamza, Bilal and Shahzad and recovered 3 pistol 30 bore from their custody.
While, Race Course police nabbed Rabnawaz and recovered rifle 12 bore from his possession.
Following operation, Mandra police recovered 01 pistol 30 bore from Wajid.
Jatali police netted Fazul Rehman and recovered 1 pistol 30 bore from his possession and 01 pistol 9 mm was recovered from Hasib.
Saddar Barooni police recovered 01 Kalashnikov from  Bilal, while Rawat police recovered 01 pistol 30 bore from Aslam.
Chontra police recovered 01 pistol 30 bore from Hasib Sajjad.
The police registered separate cases against the accused and further investigation was in progress.
The divisional SPs appreciated the performance of police teams and said that operations against liquor suppliers, aerial firing and illegal arms holders were being accelerated.

HYDERABAD, Aug 29 (APP):Isra University in collaboration with PEC organized the Continuing Professional Development Program (CPD) Seminar “Intelligent Manufacturing and Sustainable Energy Systems” at the varsity campus here on Tuesday.
Addressing the seminar Prof. Dr. Nazir Ashraf Laghari, Vice Chancellor of Isra University Hyderabad said “Intelligent Manufacturing refers to the integration of advanced technologies and data-driven processes in the manufacturing industry to optimize production, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality.
It encompasses a range of technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, big data analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT), all of which work in tandem to create smart and interconnected manufacturing environments and that the engineering faculty must take this opportunity to benefit from it”.
Later, a detailed session on Intelligent Manufacturing and Sustainable Energy Systems was given by the resource person.
He said that the seminar is focused on real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and adaptive control systems, intelligent manufacturing facilitates agile production processes, reduced downtime, and improved resource allocation.
The resource person said that enabling faster decision-making and automation, not only boosts productivity but also allows for more flexible and customized manufacturing approaches, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient industrial ecosystem.
Sustainable energy systems refer to the design, implementation, and management of energy production, distribution, and consumption methods that minimize environmental impact and promote long-term ecological balance.
These systems prioritize the use of renewable energy sources like solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal power, while also emphasizing energy efficiency and conservation strategies, he added.
In the end, certificates were distributed in the closing ceremony by Engr. Daud Channa, Chief Executive Director, Director ORIC among the participants.

240 brick kilns sealed for contributing alarming pollution

MULTAN, Aug 29 (APP):In a resolute effort to combat the looming threat of smog, 240 brick kilns faced the brunt of being sealed for a staggering 295 violations.
Commissioner of Multan Division, Engineer Aamir Khattak here on Tuesday orchestrated an unprecedented crackdown against industrial units causing smog in the atmosphere.
Spearheaded by Deputy Director of Environment, Maher Shamshad, a determined team embarked on an inspection of 20 brick kilns on Tuesday, resulting in sealing of five due to their alarming contribution to environmental pollution.
This robust initiative also witnessed a comprehensive scrutiny of factories, resulting in the complete inspection of two and a stern notice being served to one factory, said an official source.
The relentless pursuit of cleaner air, as mandated by the Punjab government, has propelled the anti-smog operation, yielding remarkable outcomes in the region.
Multan’s 479 brick kilns, notorious for their emissions, faced the scrutiny of the campaign, with 331 of them came under the microscope in just a month. An astounding 240 brick kilns faced the brunt of being sealed for a staggering 295 violations. This campaign has not only wielded closure but also led registration of 44 impactful cases, along with an imposing fine amounting to Rs. 5,100,000.
The industrial sector too did not escape the watchful eye during the operation. Out of the 354 industrial units inspected, 223 were scrutinized, resulting in the levying of fines worth 5 lakh rupees on 218 units due to air pollution offenses. In addition, a total of 27 cases were documented, and stern actions were taken, including the sealing of one industrial unit, said official source.
The initiative didn’t stop at brick kilns and factories; junkyards were meticulously examined as well. As a result, 56 junkyards were subject to inspection, leading to the registration of 17 cases.
Furthermore, vehicular emissions were not spared from this comprehensive drive. An impressive 14,720 vehicles underwent scrutiny, with a shockingly 715 being penalized through challans. A hefty fine of Rs. 421,980 was imposed, sending a clear message about the authorities’ commitment to curbing air pollution from all fronts.
With these awe-inspiring figures and resolute actions, Multan’s battle against smog enters a new era, setting a remarkable example for environmental preservation.
