Body cameras distributed among cops to ensure transparency in policing affairs

ISLAMABAD, Aug 30 (APP):Islamabad police have distributed body cameras among the dedicated personnel of the Dolphin Squad to bolster transparency and accountability within the force.
Under the direct orders of Dr Akbar Nasir Khan, the Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO), the SSP Safe City initiated the distribution of these body cameras, coupled with comprehensive training on their proper usage.
The primary objective behind this initiative is to ensure the secure and verifiable recording of interactions between police officials and the public.
By doing so, the Islamabad Capital Police aims to foster a safer environment, deter criminal activities, and keep a vigilant eye on any suspicious individuals or events.
During the training session, Dolphin Squad members were instructed to consistently wear and operate these body cameras while on duty. This practice guarantees that all interactions with the public are securely recorded, serving as a deterrent against unlawful activities.
Furthermore, officials were unequivocally directed to refrain from conducting vehicle searches without the explicit authorization of senior officers.
They were also reminded to uphold courteous and respectful behaviour when interacting with the public, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
The Islamabad Capital Police remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of the citizens it serves.
Islamabad police have appealed to all citizens for cooperation in a collective mission to uphold peace and security.
It has been also asked to report any suspicious activities promptly to your nearest police station or dial the “Pucar-15” helpline.

Seven drug peddlers arrested

SARGODHA, Aug 30 (APP):Laxiaan Police on Wednesday nabbed seven drug pushers during a crackdown against the drug mafia.
The team raided and arrested Murtaza and others and recovered 2.3 kg of hashish from them.
Further investigation was under way.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 30 (APP):In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has reiterated its call for the ‘Hyderpora Chalo’ march on the 2nd martyrdom anniversary of veteran Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Gilani on Friday.
According to Kashmir media service, APHC leaders Muhammad Ramzan, Shahid Saleem, Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi, Muhammad Iqbal, Mukhtar Waza, Engineer Hilal Ahmad Wa and Farida Behanji in their statements in Srinagar have urged the Kashmiris living across the Line of Control and abroad to hold protest demonstrations on the day to expose Indian crimes in the occupied.
They said that Syed Ali Gilani sacrificed everything for the sacred cause of freedom and is a role model for the generation to come.

KP government releases much needed funds for UoP

PESHAWAR, Aug 30 (APP):The caretaker government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approved much needed funds amounting to Rs 325 million under the salary head for the University of Peshawar (UoP).
Following the approval, the KP Finance Department has started necessary official procedure for the release of funds to the UoP.
The Vice Chancellor of the university had earlier written an application to the provincial government for the release of funds to overcome the financial issues of the university.
In a notification to the vice chancellor here the other day, the provincial government informed that funds have been released to pay the salaries of the university staff for the month of August.
The Finance Department released the funds on the recommendation of the Higher Education Department. The notification further said that these funds have been released under the Budget Book for 2023-24.
The university administration said after the release of funds, the university would now be able to manage its financial crisis for the time being.

Village committees formed to solve villagers’ problems: Noor Awan

SARGODHA, Aug 30 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Bhakkar Noor Awan on Wednesday said that the district administration took the revolutionary step to establish village committees at each village to solve the masses problems at their door steps.
In line with special directives of the incumbent care taker Punjab government, more than 530 village committees had been established in the district
He said that Numberdars concerned had been given the full Authority to solve the villager’s related basic issues.
“Special directives were given to all assistant commissioners (ACs) concerned to monitor the formed committees on daily basis”,he concluded.

Shipping Activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI, Aug 30 (APP):Four ships namely, Maersk Denver, Maersk Brooklyn, Cetus Cachalot and FSM carrying Container, Coal and LPG, berthed at Container Terminal, Bulk Terminal and Engro Terminal, respectively on Tuesday.
Meanwhile five more ships, MSC Madeleine, Copenhagen, Maroudio, Besi Ktas M and Mari Blue, scheduled to load/offload Containers, Cement and Coal also arrived at outer anchorage of the Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
A total of 09 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of two ships, Maersk Brooklyn and Sea Bulk sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while five more ships, Maersk Denver, MS Freesia, Okyroe, Calypso Gas and FSM are expected to sail on same day afternoon.
The cargo throughput of 133,706 tonnes, comprising 99,519 tones imports Cargo and 34,187 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 3,572 Containers (1,561 TEUs Imports and 2,011 TEUs export) was handled at the port during the last 24 hours.
There are twelve ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them five ships, Maroudio, Sea Hazel, Nymph Thetis, Southern Robin and MSC Madeleine & another ship, Maersk Pelepas scheduled to load/offload Cement, Fuel oil, Palm oil, Chemicals and Containers are expected to take berths at Multi-Purpose Terminal, Oil Terminal, Liquid Terminal, Engro Terminal and Container Terminal respectively on today Wednesday, while another containers ship, Frankfurt Express is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Thursday.

Distt Admin launches crackdown against professional beggars

PESHAWAR, Aug 30 (APP):The district administration on Wednesday launched a special campaign against professional beggars in the provincial capital and constituted five teams to conduct operations on a daily basis in certain areas.
On the first day of the campaign, hundreds of professional beggars from different places in Peshawar were arrested under the Anti-Beggary Act and transferred to Darul Kafala, district administration.
The Department of Social Welfare, Child Protection Unit, Rescue, and other organizations participated in the ongoing campaign against the beggars, said the office of the Deputy Commissioner, adding that among those arrested were children, old people and women.
It said that the complete data and records of the criminals arrested during the campaign would also be collected. The teams of district administration would conduct crackdowns on a daily basis in Hayatabad, Hashangari, Gulbahar, Firdous, Jameel Chowk, University Town, Aman Road and many other prominent places.

12 more dengue cases reports in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, Aug 30 (APP):As many as 12 more dengue cases were reported in Rawalpindi during the last 24 hours, raising the tally of confirmed cases to 188 in the district.
District Coordinator Epidemics Prevention and Control (DCEPC), Dr Sajjad Mehmood, Wednesday said that, among the new cases, six cases had arrived from Potohar town urban, five from Chaklala Cantonment and one from Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi area.
He said 54 patients were admitted to Rawalpindi public hospitals, out of which 42 were confirmed cases while 132 were discharged after treatment.
Giving details of the punitive actions during the last 24 hours, Dr Sajjad informed that the district administration had registered 57 FIRs, issued tickets to 15, sealed three premises, and a fine of Rs 50,000 was imposed against the violations of dengue SOPs.
During indoor surveillance, from January 1 to date, the teams checked 4,523,648 houses in Rawalpindi district and larvae were found in 27,164 homes.
Similarly, he added that while checking 1,767,035 places, the teams found larvae at 5,041 sites during outdoor surveillance.
The health officer warned that September was crucial for dengue mosquito breeding as the temperature was decreasing with each passing day due to weather change and urged the residents to adopt precautionary measures to avoid parasite bites.

Six farmers booked over water theft:

SARGODHA, Aug 30 (APP):An irrigation task-force team caught six farmers on the charge of water theft from canals in the district, here on Wednesday.
According to official sources, the teams conducted raids in various areas of the districts including Chak no 147 NB,Hujjan and adjacent villages and caught Farooq,Ghulam Muhammad,Sheraz,Muhammad Iqbal,Javed and Ansar and others who were stealing water from canals.
On the report of the irrigation team, police registered cases against the water pilferers.

Posters urge people to pay tribute to martyred Syed Ali Gilani

ISLAMABAD, Aug 30 (APP):More posters have appeared in different areas of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir urging the people to conduct a march towards Hyderpora graveyard in Srinagar on Friday (September 01) to pay tribute to the veteran Kashmiri leader, Syed Ali Gilani, on his 2nd martyrdom anniversary.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has called for a march on Friday towards the Hyderpora graveyard where Syed Ali Gilani is buried. All pro-freedom organizations have supported the call.
 The posters have been once again pasted on walls, pillars and electric poles in different areas of the occupied territory by APHC, Peoples Resistance Party, Jammu and Kashmir Justice and Peace Initiative, Nawjawanan-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Justice League Forum, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Movement, Resistance Youth Forum Jammu and Kashmir, Democratic Youth Forum Jammu and Kashmir, Wareseen-e-Shuhada, Jammu and Kashmir Political Resistance Movement, Freedom Lovers and other organizations urging the people to march towards Hyderpora to pay tributes to the veteran leader on September 01. They have also asked imams and khateebs of mosques to hold special prayers for Syed Ali Gilani and other Kashmiri martyrs.
 The posters read that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go to waste and their mission would be accomplished at all costs.
 The posters have also been circulated on social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp.
 Meanwhile, APHC leaders including Hakeem Abdul Rasheed, Abdul Ghani Butt and Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal in their statements issued in Srinagar urged the Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world to hold protest demonstrations on the martyrdom day of Syed Ali Gilani to expose the Indian crimes in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
 It is to mention here that Syed Ali Gilani died in Indian captivity on September 01 2021 at his residence in Srinagar where he had been kept under continued house arrest for over a decade.
