Rescue-1122 recovers two bodies drowned in Swat River, search for one missing continue

DIR LOWER, Sep 02 (APP):The officials of the Rescue-1122 Dir Lower have recovered two bodies of the three persons who drowned in River Swat on Friday, last.
After a long search, the officials of Rescue-1122 managed to recover the bodies of two of the three people who drowned in the Swat River.
The teams of Rescue-1122 Lower Dir continued the rescue operation in Swat River for the second day as well. Three youth belonging to Kalangi in Swat River on Friday, the body of one of the three youth was recovered by the rescue team last night and handed over to the family members while the two youth were being searched.
The search operation was continued wherein the body of another young man, Abuzar, was also recovered from the Swat River.

Aneeq Ahmed urges media to launch awareness drive of Turberculosis

KARACHI, Sep 02 (APP):Interim Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmoney Aneeq Ahmed while deploring the presense of Tuberculosis in the country, on Saturday, urged the media owners to launch an awareness campaign of Tuberculosis (TB) to get rid of the disease from the country.
He said that unfortunately the disease still existed in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
While speaking in a programme on Tuberculosis at a hotel here, the Minister said that the media had a significant role in creating awarenss among the people. He said that the media owners should play their part in this regard.
Ahmed said that the people should be made aware of the diseases including TB.
He said, ‘Good social behavours and attitudes are vital along with prayers’.
He said that the country was facing many challenges and everything had been commercialized in the society.
The Minister said that the average age of the people around the world was increasing due to the provision of best facilities to them.
He said that Pakistan also could be made that country, where people could breath in neat and clean environment.
Ahmed said that the country needed comprehensive steps to provide a better environment to the people

Secretary Agriculture chairs meeting; reviews cotton crop, floods

BAHAWALPUR, Sep 02 (APP):Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahu on Saturday chaired a meeting and reviewed the current situation of cotton and floods in Bahawalpur Division.
Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Dr. Ehtesham Anwar, Additional Secretary Agriculture Task Force Punjab Shabir Ahmad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Zaheer Anwar Jappa, Director General Agriculture Extension Dr. Ishtiaq Hasan, Consultant Dr. Anjum Ali, and Director General Agriculture Pest Warning Rana Faqir Ahmed were present in the meeting.
Secretary Agriculture Punjab said that the production of 4 million bales of cotton is expected this year in the Bahawalpur division. With the support of the district administration, steps are being taken to achieve the target of cotton yield.
Iftikhar Ali Sahu has said that this month is very important regarding cotton production. He said that the availability of canal water for cotton fields should be ensured in the Bahawalpur division during this month. In ginning factories, 347,000 bales of cotton have been produced in Bahawalpur division which is  142% more than last year. Secretary Agriculture Punjab has said that field inspection for cotton pest scouting, surveillance, and monitoring should be increased.
He said that agriculture extension staff should go to the field and provide technical guidance to the farmers regarding the clean picking of cotton. He said that cotton is directly related to the country’s economy.

Monthly revenue court held

SIALKOT, Sep 02 (APP):A monthly public service revenue court by Deputy Commissioner Adnan Mehmood Awan was held in the Anwar Club Auditorium on Saturday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Revenue Muhammad Iqbal, Sub-Registrar Taimur Ahmed, General Assistant Revenue Abdul Haye Bhatti, Tehsildar Salim and Naib Tehsildar Sarfraz Cheema besides policemen and circle gardawarans and patwaris of Sialkot tehsil participated.
The deputy commissioner directed the revenue officers to resolve the problems of people coming to the Revenue Public Service Office on a priority basis and warned that no negligence would be tolerated.
He said that 372 sanitary workers were being recruited in 124 rural union councils under the Punjab government’s programme “Ab Gaon Chamkein Gay” and one tricycle loader was being purchased for each union council.
He said that patwaris should play their role in making the plan of village cleanliness a success. He said the Punjab chief secretary was reviewing the programme on a daily basis.
He said that heavy mechanical machinery and vehicles would also be provided by district councils, Solid Waste Management Company (SWMC) and Municipal Corporation Sialkot (MCS) for cleaning villages.

11 die in Punjab road accidents in 24 hours

LAHORE, Sep 02 (APP):At least eleven persons were killed and 1,154 injured in 1,139 road accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
Out of these, 557 people with serious injuries were shifted to hospitals, while 597 victims with minor injuries were treated on the spot by rescue medical teams thus reducing the burden of hospitals.
Furthermore, the analysis showed that 608 drivers, 34 underage drivers, 163 pedestrians and 394 passengers were among the victims of the crashes. The statistics show that 271 accidents were reported in Lahore which affected 281 persons placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 66 in Multan with 59 victims and at third Gujranwala with 62 accidents and 55 victims.
According to the data 994 motorbikes, 71 auto-rickshaws, 107 cars, 22 vans, 7 passenger buses, 21 trucks and 127 other types of vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the accidents.
