Pakistan Defence Day celebrated with zeal in Balochistan

QUETTA, Sep 06 (APP):The Defence and Martyrs Day of Pakistan was celebrated with enthusiasm in respective areas of  Balochistan on Wednesday.
The day dawned with the recitation of the Holy Quran and special prayers for the prosperity of Pakistan in all mosques throughout the province.
Officers of Pak Army, Frontier Corps, Police and Levis Force while offering Fateha for the fallen heroes of the nation laid floral wreath at different Yadgar-e-Shuhada set up in various districts of the province.
Rallies were taken out in respective districts including Quetta to par rich tribute to martyrs on the Defence Day.
Likewise, different ceremonies were held in various districts including Panjgur, Killa Abdullah, Khuzdar, Kohlu, Pishin, Kharan, Nushki, Taftan, Gwadar, Naseerabad, Jafarrabad, Dera Bugti, Chaman,and other district to celebrate the Defence Day with enthusiasm.
Participants in the ceremonies paying homage to the martyrs and Ghazis highlighted the sacrifices rendered by the Armed forces. In the programs held in connection with the Defence Day different stalls were set up to portray army’s role in defending the motherland and nation building.
Students of various schools also performed tableaus prepared in connection with the Defence Day.
 Balochistan Caretaker Chief Minister Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki said in his message on the occasion of Pakistan Defense Day that the Defense Day was a historic day when our forces uprooted the enemy’s steps and became a leaden wall to defend the motherland.
 He said that September 6 is a day in the history of Pakistan while it teaches us collective national spirit and determination for the protection, integrity and defense of our beloved homeland.
The CM said that the entire nation was demonstrated and come together during the war of September, 6, 1965 to prove that arms or numbers do not mean anything in the face of the power of unity, consensus and faith.
He said that Defense Day was a historic day when our forces uprooted the enemy’s steps and became a leaden wall to defend the motherland.
“A great courage and bravery was shown and the Pakistan Army successfully defended the geographical borders of the country and thwarted the nefarious intentions of the Indian forces”, he mentioned.
Ali Mardan said that since the establishment of Pakistan till today, our brave forces have made eternal sacrifices for the country and have always kept the country safe from the enemy.
He added that Defense Day is a renewal of the pledge that we would not let the sacrifices of our great martyrs go in vain and would always play our role collectively for the defense, development, integrity and stability of our country.
The people of Balochistan have always stood shoulder to shoulder with their brave forces and other security agencies to maintain peace and order in the province and against the subversive elements, he noted.
He said that we are determined that will provide a peaceful and conducive environment for conducting clean and transparent elections in the province.

CCP approves two mergers – home health care, insurance sectors

ISLAMABAD, Sep 6 (APP):The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has granted approval to two mergers in-home healthcare services and non-life insurance sectors.
The approvals were granted following the successful completion of Phase-1 competition assessment, conducted in accordance with Section 11 of the Competition Act, 2010, said a press release issued here on Wednesday.
The CCP approved the merger application filed by Shifa International Hospitals Limited to acquire SIHT Private Limited from Shifa Foundation.
It was found that there was no overlap in the activities of the merger parties in the relevant market, therefore, post-transaction, market conditions will remain unchanged.
Furthermore, the proposed transaction, having raised no competition concerns, secured the CCP’s approval.
The commission also approved the merger of TPL Insurance Limited (TPLI) with New Hampshire Insurance Company – Pakistan Branch (NHICP) after completing all formalities.
NHICP is a Pakistan-based branch of New Hampshire Insurance Company incorporated under the laws of the United States of America.
The branch was providing general insurance services, however, its operations ceased in 2016.
Likewise, the proposed transaction raised no competition concerns, earning swift approval from CCP.
It is important to note that the Competition Act stipulates mandatory procedures for review and prior clearance of mergers and acquisitions meeting the thresholds specified by the CCP.
The purpose of merger review is to safeguard competition, while simultaneously fostering an environment conducive to attracting foreign direct investment.
The CCP is entrusted with the mandate of providing free competition in all spheres of commercial and economic activities, to enhance economic efficiency, and protect consumers from anti-competitive behaviour.

3,600 Data Entry operators to assist ROs during general elections

ISLAMABAD, Sep 06 (APP): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday has approved the deployment of 3,600 Data Entry Operators to assist Returning Officers (ROs) during the upcoming general election, ensuring they receive comprehensive assistance throughout the electoral process.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has designed a comprehensive training initiative to enhance the proficiency of these data entry operators.
The objective of this training, being conducted across 16 different cities in Pakistan, running from September 4 to September 16, 2023, is to increase transparency in the selection process and ensure timely completion of the tasks.
The Election Commission has established a modern monitoring system to facilitate effective and comprehensive oversight of the training program. This initiative involves the supervision of the training by 25 senior officers from the commission.

Pakistan Defense Day observed

According to DC office,  officers of district Administration, Department of Education, Rescue 1122, District Youth Officer, Civil Defense Officer, teachers and students of schools participated in the ceremony.
Additional Assistant Commissioner,  Waqas Ahmed while addressing the audience said that 6th September was remembered as a day of vigour, bravery, courage and resilience.

KP Information Minister commemorates Pak Defense and Martyrs’ Day in Nathiagali

NATHIAGALI, Sep 06 (APP): Barrister Feroz Jamal, the caretaker Minister for Information of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday said that Pakistan’s Defense and Martyrs’ Day, observed on September 6th, served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the nation’s heroes. He also highlighted the significance of martyrs in the nation’s history.
He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony organized by the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) regarding Pakistan’s Defense Day with a vintage car show and cultural festival at Nathiagali.
Addressing the audience, Barrister Feroz Jamal expressed that martyrs are a source of pride for the nation. He emphasized that the sacrifices of these heroes have allowed the people of Pakistan to enjoy the blessings of freedom and fresh air. Regarding the development of Nathiagali, Barrister Feroz Jamal announced that the Ayubia Chairlift would soon be made operational which would contribute in the enhancement of tourism in the region. He further revealed plans to launch an awareness campaign focused on responsible tourism. This initiative aims to ensure the proper care and cleanliness of tourist sites, providing visitors with an opportunity to fully enjoy their experiences.
The event showcased a diverse array of stalls aimed at promoting and preserving local culture and heritage. Pak Defense and Martyrs’ Day observed with great reverence in Hazara

ABBOTTABAD, Sep 06 (APP):Like other parts of the country, Pakistan’s Defense Day was also observed across the eight districts of Hazara division on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Khalid Iqbal led a rally followed by the flag-hoisting ceremony at the DC Office by paying homage to the martyrs and defenders of the motherland. The ceremony was attended by the district officials and staff.
The DC also extended his condolences to Dr. Aftab Rabbani, the father of martyred Captain Akash Rabbani, during his visit to his residence. He lauded the sacrifices of the martyrs in the history of the nation and acknowledged their sacrifices.
The DC raised the flag and offered a prayer for the defense of the nation and for the eternal reward of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their country.
He took the opportunity to meet with administrative officers, religious scholars and staff in attendance, offering special prayers and recognizing the challenges confronting the nation and the sacrifices made by its heroes.
He reaffirmed the commitment to providing unwavering support to the families of the martyrs.
The ceremony was attended by Assistant Commissioner Abbottabad Saqib Salim, AAC Ali Sher, AAC Zark Yar Khan, DMS DHQ Dr. Tahir Habib, Deputy DHO Dr. Shahzad Iqbal, Health Coordinator Dr. Ashfaq, District Emergency Officer 1122, religious scholars, members of the press club, social workers and other dignitaries.

Pakistan Navy marks Defence Day

KARACHI, Sep 6 (APP): Pakistan Navy Wednesday celebrated ‘National Defence Day’ with reverence and effervescent spirit to commemorate supreme sacrifices of the Armed Forces, Shuhada, Ghazis and national heroes who stood against the enemy with unparalleled display of unity and tenacity during 1965 Indo-Pak War.

In his message on the occasion, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi paid homage to the Shuhada and Ghazis who repulsed blatant aggression of enemy and foiled its nefarious designs with support of the people, a Pakistan Navy news release said.

The day displayed the spirit of unity and sacrifice in the defence of our motherland and glorifies the indomitable bond of the Nation and the Armed Forces to stand together in the face of adversity and belligerence.

The admiral reiterated that Pakistan Navy maintained perpetual readiness to deter war, ensure maritime defence and proactively contributed to nation building initiatives.

The day dawned with special prayers offered in all naval mosques for preservation of integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan.

Quran Khawani was held for interminable peace of Shuhada of the 1965 war.

Chief of Staff, Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf laid floral wreath at Shuhada’s Monument at Naval Headquarters Islamabad, interacted with the families of Shuhada and offered Fateha.

The wreath laying ceremonies and Fateha Khawani were also held at Shuhada’s memorials at Field Command Headquarters.

Flag hoisting ceremonies were held at all naval units and establishments wherein Commanding Officers of all units and establishments addressed special gatherings of officers and men and highlighted the significance of the day.

All ships and establishments were decorated and illuminated in accordance with naval traditions.

Other activities of the day included various sports matches in Pakistan Navy units.

People, Armed Forces intertwined in unbreakable bond: NA Speaker

ISLAMABAD, Sep 06 (APP): Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf Wednesday said that people and Pakistan’s armed forces are intertwined in an unbreakable bond.

He said that the Pakistani people and its Armed Forces are always ready to offer any kind of sacrifice for the protection of the country.

He also said that Pakistan is bound to progress and develop as it is blessed with patriotic people.

Raja Pervez Ashraf expressed these views while talking to media representatives during his visit to the tomb of Shaheed Captain Sarwar Muhammad Shaheed in Gujar Khan on the occasion of Defense Day.

The speaker said that the people of Gujar Khan, a land of Martyrs, would continue to sacrifice their lives to protect Pakistan.

He said, “We are a nation of peaceful people but would prove an unbreakable wall to defend our motherland from any nefarious designs of enemies. While denouncing the 9th May vandalism he said, any action to create a chasm between people of Pakistan and its Armed Forces would never succeed.”

He said that no sane individual can dare to create a chasm between people and their forces.

Raja Pervez Ashraf said that sacrifices rendered by our Armed Forces personnel are written in golden words in the bright annals of Pakistan’s history.

Later on, the speaker also visited the mausoleum of Shaheed Sawar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed in Gujar Khan.

He said that Pakistan is blessed with brave Armed Forces who are always ready to sacrifice their lives for the protection of the country.

He said that every Pakistani is ready to sacrifice his life to protect each inch of Pakistan’s land. He also said that 9th May is condemnable in every sense of word as it was enemies’ design to distance people and their armed forces.

He expressed his belief that Pakistan would continue to flourish and progress owing to sacrifices rendered by our Armed Forces personnel.

The speaker National Assembly also met with people of his constituency.

He said that resolving issues faced by common people has always been his top priority as being public representative.
