3,600 Data Entry operators to assist ROs during general elections
ISLAMABAD, Sep 06 (APP): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday has approved the deployment of 3,600 Data Entry Operators to assist Returning Officers (ROs) during the upcoming general election, ensuring they receive comprehensive assistance throughout the electoral process.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has designed a comprehensive training initiative to enhance the proficiency of these data entry operators.
The objective of this training, being conducted across 16 different cities in Pakistan, running from September 4 to September 16, 2023, is to increase transparency in the selection process and ensure timely completion of the tasks.
The Election Commission has established a modern monitoring system to facilitate effective and comprehensive oversight of the training program. This initiative involves the supervision of the training by 25 senior officers from the commission.

NATHIAGALI, Sep 06 (APP): Barrister Feroz Jamal, the caretaker Minister for Information of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday said that Pakistan’s Defense and Martyrs’ Day, observed on September 6th, served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the nation’s heroes. He also highlighted the significance of martyrs in the nation’s history.
He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony organized by the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) regarding Pakistan’s Defense Day with a vintage car show and cultural festival at Nathiagali.
Addressing the audience, Barrister Feroz Jamal expressed that martyrs are a source of pride for the nation. He emphasized that the sacrifices of these heroes have allowed the people of Pakistan to enjoy the blessings of freedom and fresh air. He underscored the importance of commemorating the day and acknowledging the privilege of martyrdom, which is bestowed upon the fortunate few.
The minister also lauded the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s youth, both in the wars of September and in the recent struggle against terrorism. He stressed that the entire nation was taking immense pride in these brave individuals who had selflessly served their country.
Regarding the development of Nathiagali, Barrister Feroz Jamal announced that the Ayubia Chairlift would soon be made operational which would contribute in the enhancement of tourism in the region. He further revealed plans to launch an awareness campaign focused on responsible tourism. This initiative aims to ensure the proper care and cleanliness of tourist sites, providing visitors with an opportunity to fully enjoy their experiences.
The event showcased a diverse array of stalls aimed at promoting and preserving local culture and heritage. Items representing the rich cultural tapestry of the region were on display, encouraging appreciation and conservation. Additionally, the Director-General of the Galiyat Development Authority Waseef Saeed, announced upcoming events designed to further promote local culture and heritage.

Pakistan Navy marks Defence Day
KARACHI, Sep 6 (APP): Pakistan Navy Wednesday celebrated ‘National Defence Day’ with reverence and effervescent spirit to commemorate supreme sacrifices of the Armed Forces, Shuhada, Ghazis and national heroes who stood against the enemy with unparalleled display of unity and tenacity during 1965 Indo-Pak War.
In his message on the occasion, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi paid homage to the Shuhada and Ghazis who repulsed blatant aggression of enemy and foiled its nefarious designs with support of the people, a Pakistan Navy news release said.
The day displayed the spirit of unity and sacrifice in the defence of our motherland and glorifies the indomitable bond of the Nation and the Armed Forces to stand together in the face of adversity and belligerence.
The admiral reiterated that Pakistan Navy maintained perpetual readiness to deter war, ensure maritime defence and proactively contributed to nation building initiatives.
The day dawned with special prayers offered in all naval mosques for preservation of integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan.
Quran Khawani was held for interminable peace of Shuhada of the 1965 war.
Chief of Staff, Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf laid floral wreath at Shuhada’s Monument at Naval Headquarters Islamabad, interacted with the families of Shuhada and offered Fateha.
The wreath laying ceremonies and Fateha Khawani were also held at Shuhada’s memorials at Field Command Headquarters.
Flag hoisting ceremonies were held at all naval units and establishments wherein Commanding Officers of all units and establishments addressed special gatherings of officers and men and highlighted the significance of the day.
All ships and establishments were decorated and illuminated in accordance with naval traditions.
Other activities of the day included various sports matches in Pakistan Navy units.
People, Armed Forces intertwined in unbreakable bond: NA Speaker
ISLAMABAD, Sep 06 (APP): Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf Wednesday said that people and Pakistan’s armed forces are intertwined in an unbreakable bond.
He said that the Pakistani people and its Armed Forces are always ready to offer any kind of sacrifice for the protection of the country.
He also said that Pakistan is bound to progress and develop as it is blessed with patriotic people.
Raja Pervez Ashraf expressed these views while talking to media representatives during his visit to the tomb of Shaheed Captain Sarwar Muhammad Shaheed in Gujar Khan on the occasion of Defense Day.
The speaker said that the people of Gujar Khan, a land of Martyrs, would continue to sacrifice their lives to protect Pakistan.
He said, “We are a nation of peaceful people but would prove an unbreakable wall to defend our motherland from any nefarious designs of enemies. While denouncing the 9th May vandalism he said, any action to create a chasm between people of Pakistan and its Armed Forces would never succeed.”
He said that no sane individual can dare to create a chasm between people and their forces.
Raja Pervez Ashraf said that sacrifices rendered by our Armed Forces personnel are written in golden words in the bright annals of Pakistan’s history.
Later on, the speaker also visited the mausoleum of Shaheed Sawar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed in Gujar Khan.
He said that Pakistan is blessed with brave Armed Forces who are always ready to sacrifice their lives for the protection of the country.
He said that every Pakistani is ready to sacrifice his life to protect each inch of Pakistan’s land. He also said that 9th May is condemnable in every sense of word as it was enemies’ design to distance people and their armed forces.
He expressed his belief that Pakistan would continue to flourish and progress owing to sacrifices rendered by our Armed Forces personnel.
The speaker National Assembly also met with people of his constituency.
He said that resolving issues faced by common people has always been his top priority as being public representative.
