274,994 doctors registered with PMDC

ISLAMABAD, Sep 07 (APP): Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has said that so far 274,994 doctors are registered with the council.

According to an official of PMDC, the Pakistan Medical Council right after assuming the charge and in a very short span of time started working dedicatedly for doctors, students and relevant stakeholders and took all necessary steps to resolve their genuine and relevant issues.

He said that the licensing Department of the council during the last nine months issued more than 41,004 renewals,13,208 provisional registrations to new graduates and 13,888 full registrations to doctors who completed their house jobs successfully.

Almost 9,440 good standing certificates were issued to doctors who intended to proceed to work abroad.
The council has issued 2,806 registrations to doctors with additional postgraduate qualifications.

President PMDC Prof.Dr.Rizwan said that the department’s priority is to facilitate doctors, students and other stakeholders in the larger interest of Pakistan.

He said negligence of any sort will not be tolerated. All doctors have been advised to revalidate their registration certificates in time, he added.

Pakistan to host Asian Open Taekwondo C’ship in November

ISLAMABAD, Sep 07 (APP): The 5th COMBAXX Asian Open Taekwondo Championship will be held in Islamabad in November.

The Executive Office and General Assembly of the Asian Taekwondo Federation was held in Beirut, Lebanon. Delegates from 30 Asian countries participated in the general assembly chaired by AFC President Kyu Seok Lee. Pakistan Taekwondo Federation President Col (R) Waseem Janjua and Secretary General Murtaza Bangash represented Pakistan in the meeting, said a press release.

On the occasion, AFC President Lee Kyu Seok announced the hosting of the 5th COMBAXX Asian Open Taekwondo Championship in Pakistan.

Assuring full support to the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation for the championship, Prof. Kyu Seok Lee said that the 4th Asian Open Taekwondo Championship was successfully organized in Pakistan last year under the auspices of PTF. “I am looking forward to seeing the talent of Pakistani taekwondo players”, he said.

Waseem Janjua termed the hosting of the Asian Championship as an honour for Pakistan.

While thanking AFC President Lee Kyu Seok and other officials, he said that the Asian Championship would be held in November this year in Islamabad and will be attended by top class Taekwondo players from around the world.

ISLAMABAD, Sep 7 (APP): The United States (US) and Pakistan on Thursday discussed strengthening bilateral trade relations, fostering mutual cooperation to the bilateral ties.

US Ambassador Donald Blome called on the Federal Minister for Commerce, Industries and Production, Dr. Gohar Ejaz in the Ministry of Commerce, said a press release issued here.

One of the key highlights of the meeting was the exploration of potential opportunities for boosting trade in various sectors, including Textile, value added Food products, Fresh Mangoes and Dates, Soybean and Beef.

Minister Dr Gohar Ejaz informed that the Government of Pakistan has formed a Special Investment Facilitation Council aimed at attracting investments in various sectors such as Mines and Minerals, Agriculture, Information Technology, and Energy and he invited that more US companies could explore the options to invest in these sectors

The Minister elaborated on the government’s efforts for an economic revival plan with the Ambassador underscoring the importance of economic growth of Pakistan’s future and appreciated the US government for their continued support.

Digital Silk Road to stimulate Pak-China e-commerce collaboration

BEIJING, Sep 7 (APP): “Next, we’re going to make full use of AI tools to promote technological innovation and learn from successful experience, integrating into Pakistan’s national digital strategy to effectively facilitate the shared prosperity of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC),” said Lin Jianming, Chairman and CEO of Chinese sci-tech enterprise Samoyed Cloud Technology.

China’s digital trade has developed vigorously for the past few years. According to the data released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the scale of China’s digital economy increased by
USD 4.1 trillion, with an average annual compound growth rate of 14.2 percent from 2016 to 2022.

The dividend of China’s booming digital trade has provided a pool of business opportunities and injected fresh hope into countries along the Belt and Road.

Up to November 2022, China had established the Digital Silk Road cooperation mechanism with 16 countries and
advanced Silk Road e-commerce bilateral cooperation mechanism with 26 countries, including Pakistan.

Samoyed Cloud Technology, focused on artificial intelligence (AI), big data, mobile Internet, and cloud computing, exploited the vast potential of Pakistan’s digital economy and launched its e-commerce platform EZTRADER to provide digital trade services for the local retailers importing Chinese products, CEN reported on Thursday.

Recently, Lin called on Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Moin ul Haque to reach an important consensus on continuing to deepen the digital transformation of Pakistan.

“The common goal of both parties is to allow Pakistani people to buy better and cheaper Chinese goods,” the Ambassador indicated, “as well as to enable our businessmen to reduce financial pressure and better expand their business scale.”

“Chinese products are popular in Pakistan. Since the platform EZTRADER was launched in May of this year, it has attracted more than 3,000 local retailers, including 3C digital, home appliances, stationery, accessories, beauty makeup and the like, which completely exceeding our expectations,” said Lin.

To date, EZTRADER is committed to becoming a localized comprehensive e-commerce service platform connecting the local small and medium-sized retail B-side and trade B-side in Pakistan. With an efficient supplier system, it provides one-stop B2B digitalization for the whole link of e-commerce trade from purchase and sale to payment.

Lin considers that with Pakistan, the fifth most populous country in the world, with the popularity of mobile Internet, the information flow, capital flow and logistics has a certain development foundation, thus the digital transformation has huge growth potential. In the future, the company will focus on promoting higher-level and deeper cooperation in the digital field with countries along the Belt and Road, including Pakistan.
