Two-day FACE Music Mela kicks off at PNCA

ISLAMABAD, Dec 02 (APP): Introducing Pakistan’s first Jazz stage, the two-day FACE Music Mela kicked off here on Friday to mesmerize music and fun lovers at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).

The festival has been organized by Foundation of Arts, Culture and Education (FACE), an organization that aims to strengthen, empower and educate people through Arts and Cultural Interactions ensuring Sustainable and Peaceful Communities.

One first day, Jazz Festival enthralled the audience featuring fusion of bands and performers including, Sunny Jain Wild Wild East, Leva Dance, Saakin, Bayaan,The Late Night Cats (Switzerland), Red Studio, Dusha Connection (Austria) and others.

On second day of the festival, Amar Bai, Rebel Club, TMUC, Nimra Rafiq, Karakoram Sunny Jain , Bakshi Brothers, Sain Tanveer, Umair Jaswal and Faris Shafi will be performed.

Bayaan is an alternative rock band/contemporary Pop band hailing from Lahore, Pakistan. Bayaan is renowned for its lyrical prowess and experimentation alongside thought-provoking music videos.

Saakin is a band from Islamabad, while Rebel Club, Rock n’ Roll band hailing from Rawalpindi aims to develop individuals through aggressive rock music.
Faris Shafi is a Pakistani rapper and lyricist, popular for challenging society’s evils through his music.

Amar Bai resides in rural Tando Alhayar, Sindh.

As young as her age is, the more refined her art is. Started singing at the age of 7. She began as an amateur but later polished her skill and took her lessons from Mastar Santoosh Bheel. Today, Amar is considered the most refined voice of her age.

Leva Dance group from Balochistan has been representing diverse traditional dances of Balochistan besides Leva for the last 40 years. Shams raheel is a renowned Rabab player originating from Jalalabad, Afghanistan.

He has been playing and teaching Rabab in Afghanistan for the past 23 years.

He resides in Peshawar. Nimra Rafiq is a singer working professionally for the last 16 years and have made great achievements in this time span. Karakoram is a rock band from Lahore with a wide and unique soundscape from hard hitting rock to soulful spacey arrangement.

The event is among the biggest music festivals in Pakistan where, for the first time ever, we have introduced a Jazz stage featuring artists from Poland, Austria, Hungary, and the United States. It is an opportunity for cultural dialogue between various countries and Pakistan, said the organizers.

The festival focusses on celebrating diversity and humanity through the common tongue of music.

The countless musicians of Pakistan that have been spreading the positive vibrations across the land due to their incessant struggles are now waking up and taking initiative in laying the foundations of an industry, the organizers said.

FACE Foundation is an organization whose mission is to strengthen, empower and educate communities through the universal language of music, arts and cultural interaction.

It primarily focuses on international exchanges and culture to promote mutual understanding among nations.

FACE plays an important role in ensuring education at all levels to empower men and women to create stronger, more humane, creative and sustainable communities.

It is specifically dedicated to promoting gender equality and women empowerment.

The Music Mela includes master workshops with music teachers and leading artists; live music performances with headlining acts, folk, classical fusion and upcoming acts; lectures followed by Q&A sessions with directors of successful music projects; panel discussions with leading exponents of the music industry of Pakistan including promoters, publishers, educationists and artists; stalls for the introduction and outreach of folk musicians and upcoming bands.

The goal of the festival is to provide a boost to the fledgling music industry of Pakistan, particularly Islamabad – by inspiring young artists to improve their level of professionalism through performances, workshops and presentations; and to highlight the creative talent of the region in front of promoters, publishers and the media.

ISLAMABAD: December 02 – Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar presided over the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet. APP

ISLAMABAD, Dec 2 (APP):The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Friday allowed the Ministry of Economic Affairs for signing of debt rescheduling agreement with Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) for debt suspension of Covid-19 related amount US$ 26.150 million.

Ministry of Economic Affairs presented a summary on G-20 Debt Service Suspension Initiative (DSSI).
Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar presided over the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, said a press release issued by Ministry of Finance here.

Federal Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir Khan, Federal Minister for Industries and Production Syed Murtaza Mahmud, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi MNA/Ex-PM, SAPM on Finance Tariq Bajwa, SAPM on Revenue Tariq Mehmood Pasha, Federal Secretaries, Chairman SECP and other senior officers attended the meeting in person while Federal Minister for Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar, Coordinator to PM on Commerce and Industry Rana Ihsan Afzal and Governor SBP joined the meeting through Zoom.

This debt relief was announced in April 2020 for IDA eligible countries to mitigate the socio-economic impact of Covid-19. Under this initiative debt relief was through the suspension of principal and interest payments.
The G 20 Finance Ministers extended debt relief for a further period of six months (July – Dec, 2021).
The Ministry of Industries and Production submitted a summary on Award of 3rd International Urea Tender opened on 1st December 2022.

The ECC after deliberation approved the lowest bid from M/s Swiss Singapore Overseas PTE Ltd at US$ 551/MT for 33,000 MT of Urea on CFR bulk basis.
The ECC also approved technical supplementary Grants/ Supplementary Grants of Rs. 349.383 Million in favour of the Ministry of Foreign affairs incurred on the evacuation of Pakistanis from Ukraine due to war between Ukraine and Russia.

The ECC approved Rs. 8109.772 Million in favour of Ministry of Energy (Power Division) for the execution of development schemes of Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under PSDP and Rs. 8,000 Million in favour of the Ministry of Housing and Works.

ISLAMABAD, Dec 02 (APP): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Friday advised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’ to wait for next general election till October 2023.

“October 2023” was the ultimate election month, the minister said in a tweet in reference to a news channel’s report carrying Imran Khan’s demand for talks for the snap polls’ date in a threatening tone.

Abdullah, Imam provide solid opening stand as Pakistan score 181 without loss

RAWALPINDI, Dec 02 (APP): Pakistan openers Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-haq gave a befitting reply to England as they put up a solid batting show on day two of the first Test at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi on Friday.

At stumps Pakistan were at 181 without any loss. Abdullah and Imam were 11 and 10 runs respectively away from their centuries. Shafique’s 89 included 10 4s and 2 6s while Imam’s 90 had 13 4s and a 6.

Pakistan reached to 100 in the 29th over while 150 came in the 44th over.

Earlier, England scored a  mammoth 657 runs total for all in 101 overs in the first innings.

England were 506 for 4 at the end of first day. Harry Brook (101 off 81 balls) and Ben Strokes (34 off 15 balls) were unbeaten at day end.

However, English batters managed to add only 151 runs on day two.

Pacer Naseem Shah was the first to pick the wicket on day two as he downed Strokes on 41 runs in the 76th over.

Shah struck again and picked up a second wicket in the 82th over when the ball whipped off Liam Livingstone’s pads and straight to deep square leg.

Livingstone’s went just for 9 runs.

In the 84th over, Brook was picked out deep square leg and the third wicket came for Shah. Brook was the pick of the batters as he went on to score 153 runs off 116 balls including 19 4s and 5 6s.

Mohammad Ali also came to help and took his second wicket by removing Will Jacks on 30 runs. Leggie Zahid Mahmmod  bagged Ollie Robinson (37) and James Anderson (6) wickets in the 99th and 101th overs, respectively.

Zahid  took 4 wickets for 235 runs while Naseem Shah (3 for 140), Mohammad Ali (2 for 124) and Haris Rauf (1 for 78) were other wicket takers for Pakistan.
