Police claims to recover three abductees

SUKKUR, Sep 05 (APP):The Kashmore Police on Tuesday announced recovery of three abductees in Kashmore as protest sit-in against abductions continued in Kashmore
SSP Kashmore Amjad Shaikh  announced recovery of three hostages from bandits including Mukhi Jagdesh Kumar, Jaideep and Dr Muneer Naich.
Addressing to media persons , the SSP said that  police recovered abductees in an operation in Katcha area at Ghelpur.
He also promised recovery of other hostages from bandit gangs involved in rampant lawlessness in Kashmore and adjoining districts of Sindh.
It is mentioned  here that heavily armed bandits had kidnapped Medical Superintendent of Wapda Hospital Guddu, Dr Munir Ahmad Naich from his private clinic within the limits of Guddu police station last month.
According to eye witnesses, Dr Munir Naich was abducted by four armed bandits who came on motorcycles when he was sitting at his private clinic.
The kidnappers held all the staff and patients present in the clinic hostage. However, they only took away the Medical Superintendent Dr Munir Ahmad Naich to an unknown place at gunpoint.
JUI- F General Secretary Sindh, Allama Rashid Mehmood Soomro demanded a military operation in Katcha area pointing out worsening law and order situation.

City police identify 42 gangs, arrest 98 criminals during Aug

PESHAWAR, Sep 05 (APP):The Capital City Police in its various operations during the month of August identified 42 gangs of street criminals involved in dacoities, thefts, mobile snatching and other serious nature crimes and arrested 98 offenders.
According to CCPO, Ashfaq Anwar, an amount of over 4.8 million rupees, 224 snatched mobile phones, 11 vehicles, 79 motorcycles, 10 tola gold, 4 rickshaws, prize bonds and other valuables have been recovered from the arrested criminals.
The CCPO further said that to ensure safety to the people’s lives, property and maintenance of law and order, the City Police have not only identified the troubled areas but also prepared fresh lists of people released from jails, drug mafias and criminals of various nature.
He said some Afghan nationals, habitual thieves and street criminals were also among the listed people.
The CCPO said apart from other recoveries, 27 stolen compressors, laptops, LCDs and weapons used during the crimes were also recovered from their possession. He said the arrested criminals were involved in armed robberies, dacoities, motorcars and motorcycles snatching and lifting and other crimes of serious nature.
He further informed that some of these criminals also used to change the chassis numbers of the stolen vehicles and later shift the same to various cities.

Rs 77.8 bln projects for remote areas connectivity to be completed by year end under USF

ISLAMABAD, Sep 5 (APP): To provide connectivity to remote and unserved areas across the country 83 projects worth Rs 77.8 billion would be completed by December 2023 under the Universal Service Fund (USF).

The official of the IT ministry said the primary objective of the USF was to connect all citizens of the country, as digitalization had become a crucial priority for both businesses and communities.

Under the Next Generation Optic Fiber (NG-OF) Network and Services programme, he said, the USF had made significant strides, contracting over 16,000 km of Optic Fiber Cable (OFC), which was expected to benefit approximately 31.5 million people nationwide.

To achieve the milestone, the USF had diligently laid fibre optic cables and installed 4G and 3G towers in remote and previously unserved areas, he added.

Youth killed during robbery

FAISALABAD, Sep 05 (APP):A youth was shot dead over resistance during a robbery in Sadar Jaranwala police
limits on Tuesday.
A police spokesman said bandits intercepted a laborer, Mumtaz of Chak No 22-GB,
who produced resistance during which robbers opened firing at him.
As a result, Mumtaz died on the spot while police took the body into custody
and started investigation for arrest of the accused.

PM directs for early conclusion of PIA restructuring plan

ISLAMABAD, Sep 5 (APP):Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Tuesday directed to present the detailed plan with regard to the restructuring of PIA to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) as soon as possible.

Chairing a high level meeting regarding Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) here, the prime minister also directed to take measures to further improve the air connection of remote areas with other cities of the country.

He said the flight timings of PIA should be fixed according to convenience of the passengers.

PIA is an important national institution that had provided splendid air services in past and earned positive image across the globe, he said adding that PIA was considered one of the best airlines in the world.

He asked the aviation division and the PIA management to work day and night to regain past glory of the airline.

The meeting was told that the recent amendment in the PIA Act 2016 had paved the way for the restructuring of PIA.

Caretaker Minister for Finance Dr Shamshad Akhtar, Advisor to PM Ahad Cheema and other officials attended the meeting.

ISLAMABAD, Sep 5 (APP):Muhammad Jawad Sohrab Malik, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development recently visited the Workers Welfare Fund (WWF)  to review the initiatives and programs of the WWF to enhance workers’ welfare in the country.
An official source told APP here on Tuesday, during his visit to the WWF Muhammad Jawad Sohrab Malik SAPM has received a comprehensive briefing from Zulfiqar Ahmad, Secretary WWF.
The briefing covered a range of ongoing projects and initiatives being undertaken by WWF to improve the welfare of workers in the country.
The Secretary WWF highlighted the positive impact of these projects on the lives of workers and their families. Additionally, the Secretary WWF also highlighted the challenges that WWF faces that could potentially affect the successful implementation of workers’ welfare programs, he added.
He said that during the visit, Muhammad Jawad Sohrab Malik held meetings with the WWF officials and visited different sections of WWF to get a better understanding of the organization’s schemes and to look for potential areas for development.

ANP leader Sher Wali Baghi shot dead in Bannu

PESHAWAR, Sep 05 (APP): Awami National Party (ANP) Local Leader Sher Wali Baghi was killed by unidentified armed men in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.

According to police, the incident occurred on Dera Ismail Khan Road near Engineering University Bannu where unknown motorcyclists sprayed bullets at him.

As a result of the firing, Sher Wali died on the spot.

The attackers managed to escape the scene.

The body of the deceased was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem. Sher Wali Baghi had been serving as the ANP organizer in Bannu District.

The police registered a case and started investigation.

Chief Commissioner vows to control dengue outbreak

ISLAMABAD, Sep 05 (APP):The Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Captain (retd) Anwarul Haq on Tuesday said that all possible resources will be utilized to control the dengue outbreak in the city.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting to review dengue control arrangements.
He was briefed by the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, on the measures that are being taken to control the outbreak.
The Deputy Commissioner said that surveillance teams were in the field and visiting different places to detect and destroy mosquito breeding sites.
He said that strict action was being taken against those who violate the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for dengue prevention.
The Chief Commissioner directed that sanitation arrangements should be improved in different areas of the city to prevent dengue.
He urged the people to cooperate with the authorities in the fight against dengue.
