14000 bags of sugar recovered, 7 godowns sealed

LOWER DIR, Sep 12 (APP)::District Administration here Tuesday recovered 14000 bags of sugar during a crackdown against the hoarding mafia.
According to details, a team of district administration led by Assistant Commissioner Headquarters recovered 10,000 bags of sugar from Dir City. Four godowns were also sealed during the raid.
In another raid led by Assistant Commissioner Wari, 4,000 bags of sugar were recovered from different godowns. Three godowns were also sealed and owners were penalized for hoarding sugar and selling the commodity at inflated rates.

ANF seizes 428.943 kg drugs in 35 operations

RAWALPINDI, Sep 12 (APP):Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Pakistan seized 428.943 Kg of drugs worth US$ 10.411 million internationally, arrested 36 persons including a woman and impounded seven vehicles while conducting 35 counter-narcotics operations throughout the country last week, said an ANF Headquarters spokesman here on Tuesday.
He informed that the seized drugs comprised 79 Kg Opium, 14.346 Kg Heroin, 325.168 Kg Hashish,  9.758 Kg Methamphetamine (Ice), 660 Grams Weed and 11 Grams Ecstasy Tabs (18 Tablets).
ANF Punjab recovered 148.694 Kg drugs in 10 operations and arrested 19 persons including a woman involved in drugs smuggling and impounded 2 vehicles.
The seized drugs comprised 49.200 Kg Opium, 12.750 Kg Heroin, 77.600 Kg Hashish and 9.144 Kg Methamphetamine (Ice).
ANF North recovered 106.638 Kg drugs in nine operations and arrested 12 persons while four vehicles were impounded. The seized drugs comprised 14.800 Kg opium, 1.116 Kg Heroin, 90.048 Kg Hashish, 614 Grams Methamphetamine (Ice) and 60 Grams Weed.
ANF KPK recovered 79.011 Kg drugs in 11 operations while arrested two persons. The seized drugs comprised 480 Grams Heroin, 78.520 Kg Hashish, and 11 Grams Ecstasy Tabs (18 Tabs).
ANF Sindh recovered 30.600 Kg drugs in 2 operations while arrested 3 persons and impounded a vehicle. The seized drugs comprised 30 Kg  Hashish and 600 Grams Weed.
ANF Balochsitan recovered 64 Kg drugs in three operations. The seized drugs comprised 15 Kg Opium and 49 Kg Hashish.
All cases have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations under CNS Act 1997 (Amended 2022) and further investigations are under process.

Delegation of Hindu community calls on Sindh home minister

KARACHI, Sep 12 (APP):A delegation comprising the family of Sagar Kumar, who was abducted from Kashmore, and other members of the Hindu community called on Sindh Caretaker Home Minister Brigadier (Rtd.) Haris Nawaz in his office on Tuesday.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Riffat Mukhtar and SSP South were also present on the occasion.
Renowned social activist and classical dancer Sheema Kirmani also accompanied the delegation.
Speaking to the delegation, Brig (Rtd.) Haris Nawaz said kidnapped Sagar Kumar will be recovered very soon.
He said the safe recovery of the abducted was the first priority and added the IGP Sindh was personally monitoring the case.
On the occasion, IGP Sindh Riffat Mukhtar said actions against the criminals were underway. Sit-in was not the solution to the problem. The public should cooperate with and the police, he added.

IESCO’s vigilant teams impose Rs 2.3 mln fines on 47 electricity thieves

ISLAMABAD, Sep 12 (APP): The special raiding teams have imposed a total of Rs 2.3 million fines on 47 consumers for electricity theft, amounting to 48,479 units, within the jurisdiction of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), spokesperson Asim Nazir Raja said Tuesday.

In a statement, he mentioned that they were registering First Information Reports (FIRs) against those involved in electricity theft. The raiding teams carried out raids in all six operation circles of IESCO, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi City, Rawalpindi Cantt, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal, targeting individuals involved in electricity theft. The police provided full support to the raiding teams, which is a crucial factor in the success of these operations.

The spokesperson for IESCO stated that Dr. Muhammad Khan, Chief Executive of IESCO, is directly overseeing all efforts to combat power theft. IESCO’s field officers and staff are dedicated to eradicating these harmful practices, which pose a significant obstacle to Pakistan’s development.

He encouraged the people to recognize that this is a national campaign and to assist IESCO by identifying individuals involved in power theft. He provided contact information, including a focal person reachable at mobile number 0319 5991304, a helpline at 118, and the mobile numbers of the relevant Sub-Division Officer (SDOs).

FM Jilani emphasises Commonwealth cooperation in education sector

Madad takes notice of irregularities at Federal Urdu University

ISLAMABAD, Sep 12 (APP):Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Madad Ali Sindhi, on Tuesday, took serious notice of irregularities and deteriorating conditions at the Federal Urdu University.
He formed a high-level committee to address academic, administrative, and legal issues. He said the committee was set to present its findings to the vice chancellor and his good office within a week.
The minister said the committee was comprised of senior officials from the ministry and Higher Education Commission adding that Quaid-i-Azam University Vice Chancellor Dr. Niaz Ahmed would lead the committee.

Steps taken to provide free medicines for hospitalized patients: Health minister

QUETTA, Sep 12 (APP): Balochistan Caretaker Minister for Health Dr Amir Muhammad Jogaizai on Tuesday said that practical steps were being taken to provide free medicines for hospitalized patients.

He said this while chairing a meeting of all departments concerned to improve the provision of medical facilities in the hospitals of the province.

Secretary Health, officers of Balochistan Health Department, MSs of teaching hospitals, heads of various departments, chief executive of institutes, Young Doctor Association, Bolan Medical and Teaching Association, Pakistan Medical Association, Young Consultant Association participated in the meeting.

The minister said that all the stakeholders gave their opinions to improve the provision of medical facilities in the hospitals.

He said that tens of thousands of patients were visiting the government hospitals of Balochistan on a daily basis saying that treasury care hospitals would be made the center of public service so that health facilities could be provided to the people.

The health minister directed the Health Department of Balochistan to take immediate steps to resolve the issue of stipends for postgraduate students, house officers and BMC students.

Continuation of reforms is necessary to provide better medical facilities to the people of Balochistan, he said adding that the facility of health card for the people of Balochistan is being started soon.

He said Balochistan province will have the honour that 100 percent of the people, that is, every family will have the facility of health card adding that each person’s ID card number will be his health card.

Secretary Health said that for the transfer of authority to the lower level in Balochistan Health Department, the concerned has been sent for summary approval.

He said that Modern machinery is being purchased for four new cath labs and the purchase of other medical machinery and equipment required by hospitals has been started in a phase-wise manner.

Steps are being taken to appoint FCPS and other diploma holders to the post of Assistant Professor and Registrar all over Balochistan, he said adding that to improve governance and discipline in Treasury Care Hospitals, a Board of Management is being formed in which all professors will be members.

He said that consultations are being made for changes in service rules in consultation with all health stakeholders.

The Secretary Health said that the monitoring process is being made effective in the Health Department of Balochistan so that the employees are present at their places of deployment, especially the monitoring system is being introduced for the presence of doctors in the OPDs.

The process of providing better medical services through effective reforms is common, he said and added that all possible resources will be utilized to provide quality treatment facilities to the people.

The quality and scope of medical facilities will be brought within the reach of the common man, he said.
