Abbottabad, Peshawar victorious in National Physical Disability T20 Cricket C’ship
ISLAMABAD, Feb 14 (APP): Abbottabad and Peshawar earned victories in the 8th National Physical Disability T20 Cricket Championship at the Bhutto Ground on Tuesday.
Abbottabad beat Lahore by 68 runs while Peshawar defeated Islamabad by 7 wickets, in the ongoing National Championship organized by Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association. Abbottabad defeated Lahore by 68 in the match.
Batting first, Abbottabad scored 194 runs for four wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Humayun scored 73 runs off 43 balls with the help of 9 fours and three sixes, while Khan scored 43 runs with the help of four fours and one six, Faisal Hayat added 28 runs. For Lahore, Abdullah Ejaz and Shahid Vito took two wickets, in response, Lahore was bundled out for 126 runs in 18.3 overs.
Chief guest Regional Head Peshawar Sajid Khan gave Humayun a cash award along with a trophy for Man of the Match.
In the second match, Peshawar defeated Islamabad by 7 wickets. Islamabad was bowled out for 119 runs while playing first, Mohammad Haroon scored 36 runs and Mohammad Naeem scored 30 runs on its behalf.
For Peshawar, Momin took 3 wickets for 19 runs while Atif dismissed two players for 13 runs. In reply, Peshawar achieved the target for the loss of three wickets in 16.3 overs. Wajid Alam scored 49 runs off 36 balls including five fours and two sixes. Rahmat hit three fours and a six in 36 runs, captain Nihar Alam scored 29 runs. Mohammad Naeem took three wickets.
PPDCA General Secretary and Tournament Director Ameeruddin Ansari gave Momin a trophy and cash award as Man of the Match.
On February 15 (Wednesday), Abbottabad would face Peshawar, while Lahore will face Islamabad.
AMAN-23 Exercise to pave way for more peaceful, secure region: PM
KARACHI, Feb 14 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that Pakistan Navy’s multinational AMAN-23 Exercise would pave the way to make the region more peaceful and secure with combined efforts by all stakeholders.
The prime minister who was chief guest at the culmination ceremony of the Exercise held in the North Arabian Sea, lauded Pakistan Navy for successfully hosting Exercise AMAN-23 for promoting peace and security in the region.
He thanked the participating regional and extra-regional navies for displaying their commitment to collaborative maritime security and joining hands for peaceful co-existence.
The culmination ceremony marked a powerful conduct of International Fleet Review (IFR) followed by spectacular forming up of AMAN Formation comprising Pakistan Navy and foreign naval ships, according to a press release.
Upon arrival onboard Pakistan Navy Ship MOAWIN, the prime minister was received by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi.
Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Rana Tanveer Hussain, SAPM Syed Fahad Hussain, governor and chief minister of Sindh, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Air Staff were also present.

In addition, the ambassadors, high commissioners, senior military officers, defence and naval attaches of various countries also witnessed the fleet review.
Prime Minister Shehbaz observed various naval operational manoeuvres and drills conducted during the IFR.
The Fleet Review also featured an impressive fly past by Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force and participating foreign aircraft followed by Man & Cheership by participating ships.
The mega exercise culminated with the participating ships forming up in traditional `AMAN Formation’ to signify collective resolve ‘Together for Peace’.
The Chief of the Naval Staff thanked the prime minister for attending the culmination ceremony and assured that Pakistan Navy would continue to play a dynamic role in enhancing regional maritime security individually and in collaboration with partner navies.
The naval chief also highlighted that successful conduct of PIMEC 23 held in tandem with Multinational Exercise Aman-23 was a manifestation of Pakistan Navy’s resolve to promote maritime potential of Pakistan.
During the exhibition, around 20 MoUs, one joint venture and one sale/purchase agreement of export of iron ore were signed.

During the Multinational Maritime Exercise AMAN 2023, 50 countries participated with their Naval warships, aircraft, Special Operation Forces and a large number of observers.
Stakeholders playing role for uplifting, prosperity of Gwadar: Farah Shah
QUETTA, Feb 14 (APP): Balochistan Government Spokesperson Farah Azeem Shah on Tuesday said the development and prosperity of Gwadar, the protection of people’s rights, the safety of the interests and rights of fishermen were among the priorities of the present provincial government.
In her statement issued here, she said that Gwadar was the center of global interest due to its magnificent location and the importance and usefulness of the modern Gwadar Port.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has taken important steps for the development and prosperity of Gwadar which included giving the status of labor to fishermen and approving the residential colony project for them, she underlined.
She said that instructions have been given to stop illegal trawling and take legal action against those involved in illegal trawling, which were being implemented.
Farah Azeem Shah said that all stakeholders were playing their role in the development and prosperity of Gwadar.
Gwadar Port would play a key role in the development and prosperity of the province and economic development would be possible with the increase in commercial activities at Gwadar port, she maintained.
The spokesperson said that Gwadar was located on the world’s largest maritime trade route due to which Gwadar port could become the center of global trade activities.
She said that the provincial government had adopted an effective strategy keeping in mind the interests of the people saying that positive measures were being taken in the wider interest of the people due to which people’s trust in the government was being increased.
