KP govt notifies office timings for Ramazan

PESHAWAR, Mar 22 (APP): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Wednesday notified the schedule of office timings to be observed during the holy month of Ramazan.

It said that the working hours for five days a week would be from 8:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday while on Friday it would be 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Similarly, the working hours for six-day a week would be 8:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and on Friday it would be 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

As Ramazan teaches us Patience, humanity & self-reflection, every year various channels air special dramas based upon such themes like spreading the message of kindness, rectitude, love for humanity, and hope.

Witnessing the huge success of previous Ramazan special dramas, this year also various channels put up their efforts to produce something unique and worth watching. Among all such new Ramazan special projects ‘Abdullah’ holds a special place as its focused to inspire the young minds through its heartwarming character of a young child who is ready to change not just himself but also everyone around him for good.

So far, three teasers of the project have been aired till now while the episodes are anticipated to be aired in Ramazan.

Having renowned names of the industry as the star cast including Haroon Shahid, Sumbul Iqbal, Shehryar Haider, and Ali Riazvi along with other co-stars this upcoming drama series is directed by Shahid Younus which will be aired under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment soon.

Chairman WAPDA for completing Swat River diversion within current year

ISLAMABAD, Mar 22 (APP): Chairman Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Lt General (Retd) Sajjad Ghani on Wednesday has urged the project management to complete the Swat River diversion within the current year as it is essential to commence construction work on the main dam.

He directed the WAPDA project team, consultants and contractors to execute the construction plan within the given timeline, said a press release.

The Chairman WAPDA expressed these views during his visit to Mohmand Dam Hydropower Project, being constructed by WAPDA on River Swat upstream of Munda Headworks in District Mohmand of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Chairman visited a number of sites to witness construction activities going on there. He also had a detailed round of diversion tunnels outlet and inlets to monitor concrete lining and excavation works.

GM/PD Mohmand Dam, Project Managers of the Consultants and the Contractors and other senior officers of WAPDA were also present during the visit.

Later, Mohmand Dam project management made a presentation to the Chairman about the progress achieved so far on the project.

It was briefed that construction activities on 14 key sites of the various components are being carried out simultaneously, including diversion system, dam, spillway, re-regulation pond, switch yard etc.

Permanent works of concrete lining in diversion tunnels are progressing at a faster pace to achieve target of river diversion. Excavation on left and right abutments of the dam is complete, while concreting of the foundations of the two abutments is in progress.

Excavation work on the spillway is 80% complete and concreting is being done on the portions, that have been excavated.
Earthwork of the switchyard has also been completed, it was further briefed.

The 213-meter high Mohmand Dam is a concrete-face-rock-fill (CFR) dam, which is the 5th highest dam of its type in the world. It is a multi- purpose project and is scheduled for completion in 2026-27.

On completion, it will store 1.2 MAF of water and help mitigate floods in Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera. Besides supplementing 160,000 acres of existing land, it will also irrigate 18,237 acres of new land in Mohmand and Charsadda.
Installed generation capacity of Mohmand Dam is 800 MW. It will contribute 2.86 billion units of low-cost and environment friendly hydel electricity per annum to the National Grid.

The project will also provide 300 million gallons water per day to Peshawar for drinking purpose. Estimated annual benefits of the Project stands at Rs. 51.6 billion. A sum of Rs. 4.5 billion has been earmarked for Confidence Building Measures (CBM) in the project area for socio-economic development of the locals.

PM calls for adopting habits of conserving water

ISLAMABAD, Mar 22 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday called for adopting habits of conserving water to save the precious resource for future generations.

On the occasion of World Water Day, the prime minister, in a tweet, said the day was about understanding how precious and scarce water resource was and “how we need to adapt our habits of water use” accordingly.

“Water is a life-line and it is on every one of us to make sure that we conserve water and teach our children to do so, he said adding “together we can make the difference”.

ISLAMABAD, Mar 22 (APP): Member National Assembly (MNA) Asiya Azeem on Wednesday launched the braille version of chapters of the constitution, designed by the Directorate General of Special Education, in an event here, making it accessible to visually impaired individuals.

The event was organised in connection with the golden jubilee celebration of the Constitution which is being commemorated across the country.

Moreover, the declamation, art, and painting contests for special children were also held as part of the event as MNA Asiya Azeem distributed prizes amongst the winners.

Addressing the event, she said the Constitution guaranteed the provision of equal rights to all citizens and the Parliament of Pakistan was committed to ensuring that all citizens benefited from these provisions.
