PSX gains 186 more points to close at 59,086
ISLAMABAD, Nov 24 (APP): The 100-index of Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued with bullish trend on Friday, gaining 186.51 points, a positive change of 0.32 percent, closing at 59,086.35 points against 58,899.84 points the previous trading day.
A total of 658,424,782 shares valuing Rs 22.015 billion were traded during the day as compared to 669,250,446 shares valuing Rs25.232 billion the last day.
Some 387 companies transacted their shares in the stock market; 165 of them recorded gains and 203 sustained losses, whereas the share prices of 19 remained unchanged.
The three top-trading companies were WorldCall Telcom with 66,805,684 shares at Rs1.56 per share, Pak Int. Bulk with 38,907,000 shares at Rs 5.65 per share and TPL Properties with 27,443,716 shares at Rs 14.01 per share.
Rafhan Maize witnessed a maximum increase of Rs 161.30 per share price, closing at Rs 10,482.35, whereas the runner-up was Hoechst Pak Ltd with a Rs 81.97 rise in its per share price to Rs 1,174.89.
Unilever Foods witnessed a maximum decrease of Rs 500.00 per share closing at Rs 22,500.00, followed by Premium Textile with a Rs 24.00 decline to close at Rs 401.00.
President Xi’s Special Representative to visit UAE
BEIJING, Nov 24 (APP):: At the invitation of the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President Xi Jinping’s Special Representative, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and
Vice Premier of the State Council Ding Xuexiang will be in the United Arab Emirates for the World Climate Action Summit from November 30 to December 2, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson said on Friday.
The UAE will hold the World Climate Action Summit in Dubai as the chair of the UN COP28 to provide political guidance for COP28, Mao Ning said during her regular briefing.
She said that the first-ever global stocktake since the Paris Agreement came into effect will conclude at COP28, which is a key milestone for global climate governance.
The UAE President sent invitation letters to President Xi Jinping for the Summit, she added.
The spokesperson said that to actively respond to climate change and to cement our traditional friendship with the UAE, Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang will attend the Summit as President Xi Jinping’s Special Representative.
She said that China would seek efforts from various parties to uphold the institution, principles and objective of the UNFCCC system, especially the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities and the theme of “Unite, Act, Deliver.” so as to earnestly resolve the difficulties and issues facing developing countries and promote the full and effective implementation of the Paris Agreement.
During the Summit, G77 will also hold the G77+China Summit and invite leaders of developing countries to attend, she added.

Imam-e-Kaaba leads Friday prayer at Faisal Mosque
ISLAMABAD, Nov 24 (APP): Imam-e-Kaaba, Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah Bin Humaid delivered a Friday sermon at Faisal Mosque and led the prayer where he called upon the Muslim countries to be united and prayed for the end of atrocities against Palestinian Muslims.
The Friday prayer at Faisal Mosque was also attended by the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Nawaf Said Al-Malki, President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, Vice presidents of IIUI, diplomats of various Muslim countries, prominent religious and political figures and thousands of faithful from twin cities.
In his Friday sermon, the Imam-e-Kaaba emphasized respect for humanity and respect for opinion. He said a society that adopts the characteristics of respect for humanity and respect for opinion becomes stable and successful.
The Imam-e-Kaaba emphasized the importance of promoting love, brotherhood and equality within the communities drawing on the metaphor of Muslims as a unified body.
He also discussed the sanctity of human life and the promotion of peace. He said, Islam teachers respect for even one who has a difference of opinion.
Emphasizing the need for unity of the Muslim Ummah at this time, he said that Muslim countries should be united and they should have such a unity in which there is no rift.
Later, the Imam-e-Kaaba prayed for the stability of the Islamic world, the progress of Pakistan and Muslims of Gaza that May Allah end their hardships.
Education ministry to hold three-day national level conference on reading & literacy
ISLAMABAD, Nov 24 (APP): Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training would organize a three-day National Level Conference on reading and literacy, titled, “Today’s Readers, Tomorrow’s Learners,” alongside a Book and Foundational Learning Festival on Saturday.
Deputy Secretary (Admin) Hameed Khan Niazi in a statement here on Friday said a three-day National Level Conference on reading and literacy, titled, “Today’s Readers, Tomorrow’s Learners,” alongside a Book and Foundational Learning Festival.
Niazi, who also leads the Directorate General Basic Education Community Schools (BECS), sees the events as a unique opportunity for renowned educationists to lead insightful discussions on key challenges and advancements in the field of literacy and foundational learning.
He further expressed that leading education providers will deliver short ‘Lightning Talks,’ addressing innovative solutions to specific areas of foundational learning. The festival will feature a platform showcasing new book releases, stalls focusing on Reading Challenges and Solutions in Foundational Learning, interactive theatre, captivating storytelling sessions, and more.
As part of the festival, two BECS students who gained admission to medical colleges will receive a distinction award. Additionally, 50 BECS teachers, along with all officers, will participate in the festival to watch, observe, and learn from its various programs.
The focus of this year’s event is on children, schools, and families, where leading education providers will deliver short ‘Lightning Talks’ addressing innovative solutions to specific areas of foundational learning.

Govt to support implementation of UNDP’s progress, reform programs: Domki
QUETTA, Nov 24 (APP): A delegation headed by Dr. Samuel Rizk, a Pakistan based representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) called on Balochistan Caretaker Chief Minister Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki here Friday.
During the meeting, they discussed the ongoing and proposed projects supported by UNDP in Balochistan.
Speaking to the delegation, the chief minister said that the ongoing programs in Balochistan were important for the improvement of governance, especially constant projects in the fields of planning and plan, policy, law, education and health were the guarantors of sustainable development
He said that this year, the UNDP had allocated one-third of the resources for Balochistan in the national program of Pakistan which was a positive move.
The CM said that he was committed to achieving the global goals of sustainable development and would ensure the attainment of SDGs by improving governance.
Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki said that effective planning was being done to deal with the effects of climate change and the provincial government would provide all possible support for the implementation of UNDP’s five-year development and reform program
