Three held for selling bread on low weigh in Quetta

QUETTA, Nov 25 (APP):District administration arrested three Tandoor owners for selling bread on low weight in respective area of Quetta on Saturday.
Magistrate Kuchlak Muhammad Harifal told APP that on special directive of Deputy Commissioner Quetta, he led the district administration team and conducted raid at respective areas including Shehbaz Town, Arbab Town, Jinnah Town and Kuchlack area and apprehended three Tandoor owners for selling breads on low weight after receiving complaints of public in this regard.
He said that some hotels’ owners and bakeries were imposed fine on poor sanitary and volition of price control in the area, despite one milk seller was also arrested involved in violation of  price control.
He said that such action would be continued in order to ensure implementation price control and weight of bread for provision of facilities to public.

PR urges China for swift action on ML-1

LAHORE, Nov 25 (APP):The Pakistan Railway administration has urged swift action from Chinese authorities on the ML-1 (Mainline-1) project.
Pakistan Railway CEO Amir Baloch made the request during a warm reception of a high-level delegation from China’s National Railway Administration. The 21-member delegation, led by Zhu Mengrui, team leader of the ML-1 project, expressed full support and commitment to the timely initiation of the transformative ML-1 project. Baloch highlighted the unprecedented cooperation between Pakistan and China in energy and transport sectors, emphasizing ML-1 as a game-changer that will revolutionize Pakistan’s transport and boost revenue in the freight sector. Mengrui assured collaborative efforts in addressing all aspects, including financing schemes and design proposals, marking a significant step towards enhancing economic ties and reducing transportation costs with the establishment of economic zones linked to ML-1.
Wang Chen from the Science and Technology Department of the Chinese Railways was also a prominent member of the 21-member delegation.

LESCO detects 371 power pilferers in 24 hours

LAHORE, Nov 25 (APP):Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has detected a total of 371 connections from where the customers were pilfering electricity in all its circles of five districts (Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur and Okara) on the 77th day of grand anti-power theft campaign.
The LESCO spokesman told media here Saturday that the company has also submitted FIR applications against 371 electricity thieves, out of which 227 FIRs have been registered in respective police stations, while 20 accused have been arrested.
Grand anti-power theft operations against electricity thieves are being conducted on the directives of the Federal Power Division and the LESCO Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Engineer Shahid Haider is supervising these operations. The LESCO chief vowed that the operations would continue without discrimination until the complete end of electricity theft. The electricity pilferers as well as the LESCO officers and employees who facilitate them are also being brought to justice.
On the 77th consecutive day (Nov. 25) of the anti-power theft campaign, the spokesman added, large commercial consumers were also found involved in electricity theft and all of them were also disconnected and charged with detection units. Among the seized connections 14 were commercial, 01 agricultural, 01 industrial and 355 domestic, and all these connections were disconnected and charged with a total of 440,583 units as detection bill amounting to Rs 17.773 million.
Apprising the media about some major power pilferers, he explained that LESCO charged Rs 216,800 detection bill against 2,960 units to an electricity pilferer in Ravi Riyan area; Rs 200,000 fine in the form of detection bill against 2,500 units to a customer stealing electricity in Yousaf Park area of Shahdara Town; Rs 200,000 detection bill against 5,076 units to another power thief in Empress Park area of Garhi Shahu; and Rs 200,000 detection bill to a power thief in Gawal Mandi Lahore.
During the 77 days of grand anti-theft campaign, the spokesman mentioned, the LESCO detected pilferage on 30,000 power connections and submitted 29,630 FIR applications against electricity thieves in the relevant police stations out of which 28,596 FIRs have been registered, while 13,304 accused have so far been arrested by the police. The LESCO has so far charged a total of 52,428,648 detection units worth Rs 2,101,562,523 to all the power pilferers.

FAISALABAD, Nov 25 (APP):Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has discarded more than 2000 liters unhygienic milk on Saturday.
A PFA spokesman said that PFA teams checked various milk-loaded vehicles and found more than 2000 liters milk unhygienic, adulterated and spurious in these vehicles.
Therefore, the PFA officials confiscated 2000 liter unhygienic milk and discarded it later, he added.

CM reviews work on Bund Road Corridor project

LAHORE, Nov 25 (APP):Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi along with the Provincial Cabinet conducted a surprise visit to the Bund Road Controlled Access Corridor project.
The CM visited the project route from Babu Sabu up to Saggian. The labour shift working on the project from Babu Sabu up to Saggian was absent. He expressed his indignation over the absence of labourers from the site, supervisors of contractors, LDA staff and expressed his anger with the LDA DG as well.
CM Mohsin Naqvi issued a stern warning to the Chief Engineer and the company working on the project from Babu Sabu up to Saggian. He immediately summoned the LDA DG, Chief Engineer LDA, contractor and LDA staff on the spot. He stated that he felt deeply grieved over seeing absence of night shift working on the project, adding that seeing the state of affairs by paying a surprise visit was highly intolerable. Provincial ministers Mansoor Qadir, Amir Mir, Azfar Ali Nasir, Doctor Jamal Nasir and Ibrahim Hassan Murad also accompanied him.

Major (R) Adil Raja, Captain (R) Haider Mehdi convicted over charges of inciting sedition

RAWALPINDI, Nov 25 (APP): Major (R) Adil Farooq Raja and Captain (R) Haider Raza Mehdi, both retired officers of Pakistan Army, were convicted and sentenced through Field General Court Martial (FGCM) under Pakistan Army Act, 1952 for the charges of inciting sedition among army personnel from discharge of duties and violation of the provisions of Official Secrets Act, 1923 related to espionage and acts prejudicial to the safety and interest of the State.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) news release, the court of competent jurisdiction convicted and adjudged both the individuals on the date of 7th and 9th October 2023, through due judicial process, with the punishments awarded as: Major (Retired) Adil Farooq Raja; awarded 14 years rigorous imprisonment.
Captain (Retired) Haider Raza Mehdi; awarded 12 years rigorous imprisonment.

Pursuant to the awarded sentence, the Ranks of both officers have been forfeited on November 21.
