IAC first meeting to kickstart ‘Vision Pakistan: Road to $100 Billion Exports’

ISLAMABAD, Dec 07 (APP):The Ministry of Industries and Production has announced the inaugural meeting of the Industrial Advisory Council (IAC) under the visionary leadership of the Federal Minister for Industries and Production Dr. Gohar Ejaz.
The Secretary of Industries and Production, Syed Asad Rehman Gilani also participated in the meeting as the council functions under the auspices of the Industries and Production Division, said a press release issued here on Thursday.
This meeting is a crucial step towards realizing Dr. Gohar Ejaz’s ambitious “Vision Pakistan: Road to $100 Billion Exports.”
The Industrial Advisory Council, a pivotal component of the visionary roadmap outlined by Dr. Gohar Ejaz, comprises eminent CEOs from the leading industrial groups in Pakistan. The distinguished members include Fawad Ahmed Mukhtar,  Muhammad Ali Tabba, Waqar Ahmed Malik, Abdul Samad Dawood, Raza Mansha, Shahzad Asghar Ali, Samir Chinoy, Amir Fayyaz Sheikh, Shahbaz Yaseen Malik, Ahsan Bashir, Syed Hyder Ali, and Farooq Naseem. Public members of the council include secretaries of industries, commerce and finance.
The first meeting of the Industrial Advisory Council took place on December 7, 2023. The Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Dr. Gohar Ejaz, presided over the meeting, bringing together the collective expertise and insights of the industry leaders to address critical issues and propose actionable strategies for the enhancement of the country’s industrial sector.
During the meeting, each private sector member of the Industrial Advisory Council presented their perspectives and expertise. The presentations shed light on the challenges faced by the industrial sector and provided valuable, practical suggestions for its improvement.
This gathering symbolized a collaborative effort to harness the vast potential of Pakistan’s industrial landscape and it aligns with the national objective of achieving $100 billion in exports.
The Ministry anticipates that the outcomes of this meeting will pave the way for innovative solutions, policy recommendations, and collaborative initiatives that will contribute significantly to the growth and sustainability of the industrial sector.

BISP starts disbursement of quarterly tranche (October-December) of Benazir Kafaalat

ISLAMABAD, Dec 7 (APP):The Benazir Income Support (BISP) has started disbursement of the quarterly tranche (October–December) of Benazir Kafaalat cash assistance to beneficiaries across the country.
According to an official source, the payment process has commenced across the country including Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan simultaneously.
The payment of Rs. 8500 per household is being disbursed among around nine million registered beneficiary families.
The beneficiaries, in case of any complaint, can approach the nearest BISP Tehsil offices or call the toll-free helpline number 080026477 of the Benazir Income Support Program.
The special control room has been activated in the BISP headquarters to address the complaints of the beneficiaries promptly.
However, the beneficiaries can also contact them on WhatsApp numbers including 0305-9171917 (Sindh), 0325-5365520 (Punjab), 0325-5365469 (Balochistan), 0325-5365476 (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.
The messages from the Benazir Income Support Program are sent only from 8171, and messages from any other number should not be trusted.
Chairperson, BISP, Dr. Muhammad Amjad Saqib has directed the official to ensure smooth disbursement of Kafaalat payments to the women in a respectable way without any deductions.
During his visits to various BISP offices in Peshawar, Sukkur, Sargodha, Abbottabad, Chakwal, Okara etc, the chairman has reaffirmed the program’s commitment to timely and transparent payment of Kafaalat stipends through a constructive dialogue with POS agents.
Dr. Amjad Saqib also instructed the staff to monitor the process of payment disbursement and directed the officials to take immediate action against the agents responsible for deductions from the beneficiary’s payments.
The BISP is currently supporting 9.3 million deserving families and acting as a lifeline for those facing economic hardship.
The chairman has urged the employees to recognize the rights of needy women and imparted practical wisdom to uplift poor families from the clutches of poverty.
Dr. Amjad Saqib also emphasized on lifting needy families out of poverty, connecting children from such families with technical skills, and highlighting the importance of small businesses in poverty alleviation.
The Unconditional Cash Transfers (UCT) programme also known as “Benazir Kafaalat Programme” is the core initiative of BISP and was launched in the year 2008. Since inception, the UCT/ Kafaalat initiative has grown to the extent that it is now the largest single cash transfer programme in Pakistan’s history.

Power shutdown notice

FAISALABAD, Dec 07 (APP):Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has issued power shutdown schedule
for December 9, due to necessary repair, extension and replacement of electric lines.
According to the schedule, electricity supply will remain suspended from 8 a.m. to 1 pm
from new Jinnah Colony, New Rehmatabad and Madanpura feeders linked with 132 KV
University Grid Station.
The power will also remain suspended from 9 am to 2 pm from Marafko, Kohe Noor City,
New Medina Town, National Silk Mills and Best Export feeders originating from 66 KV Old
Thermal Grid Station.
The following feeders Rafhan, Farooqabad, Model City, Saeed Colony, Dastgir Colony,
Paci, Susan Road and Fatehabad will remain suspended from 9 am to 2 pm, while power
supply from Masoodabad feeder linked with 132KV Sammundri road grid station will remain
suspended from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
The electricity supply from FIEDMC feeder linked with Industrial City Feeder-I grid station
will also be suspended from 9 am to 3 pm.

PBS organizes workshop on data users, producers

ISLAMABAD, Dec 7 (APP): Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) in collaboration with UNFPA Pakistan Thursday organized workshop on data users and data producers for discussing emerging user needs, data requirements, challenges in data dissemination and accessibility.

The event also discussed strategies of web based data dissemination, partnership for data dissemination and mechanism for systematic feedback on data dissemination, said a press release issued here.

The workshop was attended by stakeholders and development partners from Islamabad, AJK and GB.

Public organizations, relevant ministries, researchers, data users and representatives from international organizations attended the event.

Chief Statistician Dr. Naeemuz Zafar highlighted the history and functions of PBS by focusing on the first ever digital census and apprised the participants on engagement of data users and producers for data dissemination policy.

He also suggested steps to make data more useful, current modes of data dissemination.

He anticipated that with the collaboration of stakeholder data dissemination system could be improved.

UN Representative Dr. Luay Shabaneh acknowledged the completion of census and congratulated PBS on achieving the benchmark of first Digital Census.

He further added that it was very important to perceive, use and utilize data appropriately in Pakistan for informed decision making.

Sufyan Abu Harab from Palestine, Central Bureau of Statistics presented data dissemination strategies in an interactive way and stressed on disseminating the data according to needs of users.

Statistical office should be proactive about data user demands and data dissemination can become attractive for different categories of data users.

Secretary, Planning Development and Special Initiatives Awais Manzoor Sumra appreciated PBS for completing first ever Digital Census and anticipated that the workshop would be able to identify the emerging user needs and data requirements and the challenges faced by both data producers and user.

This workshop will help to design targeted and tailored data dissemination and enhance data accessibility, he said adding that the the workshop would set a milestone to devise a credible national data dissemination policy enabling all the stakeholders to satiate the thirst for data in interactive and friendly manners.

Pakistani film ‘Dhai Chaal’ on arrested Indian Spy Kulbushan Yadav premier held

Before the premiere, the producer of the film Dr. Irfan and the cast of the film while talking to the media said that the film “Dhai Chal” was a challenge, but with the help of local colleagues of Balochistan we fulfilled this dream. Now this film has been made and is going to be released in theaters tomorrow. Must go to cinemas and see how India is involved in terrorism in Pakistan.
