Three injured in roof collapse

FAISALABAD, Dec 20 (APP): Three people, including two women and a child, were injured in a roof collapse incident in the area of Thikriwala police station.
Rescue 1122 Spokesman Zahid Lateef said on Wednesday that the roof of a cattle-shed
caved in near 68-Mor Malkha Abadi on Jhang Road.
As a result, Sakina Bibi, 35, Nasira Bibi, 23, and her four-year-old son Imran Hayat trapped under the debris.
On information, the Rescue 1122 reached the spot and pulled out the victims from
the debris.
The Rescue 1122 shifted Sakina Bibi and Nasira Bibi to Allied-II (DHQ) Hospital due to
serious condition whereas first aid was provided to the child, he added.

About 1100 adulterated milk wasted

MUZAFFARGARH, Dec 20 (APP):The food safety team seized and wasted about 1100 liters of adulterated milk after holding a blockade at Multan Road this morning.
According to the spokesman of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA), the said quantity of milk was found in vehicle number 1555-QAD, in which traces of powder and water were found in abundance.
Moreover, a shortage of fats and essential natural nutrients lacked heavily in the milk as well.
As a result, it got disposed of on the spot, and the driver was arrested for proving guilty of the crime.
The spokesman said further that the blockade at internal and external routes of cities in the region was strengthened to impede the transportation of adulterated goods.
He appealed to the masses to contact the PFA’s authority by direct dialing at 1223 to avoid spreading adulterating goods and protect the health of people.

Candidates can submit nominations for PK-18 Samarbagh till Dec 22: DEO

DIR LOWER, Dec 20 (APP):The District Election Office (DEO) has said that the interested candidates can submit their nomination paper for PK-18 Samarbagh Dir Payan till December 22 with the returning officer.
In a public notice issued here in connection with general elections 2024, it said that the list of candidates’ names would be published on December 23 while the scrutiny of the nomination papers would be done from December 24 to 30.
The hearing on appeals of rejection or acceptance of the nomination papers would be conducted on January 3rd while the appellate authority would give final judgments on the appeals on January 10.
The revised list of candidates would be released on January 11 and the last date for withdrawal of the nomination papers would be January 12.
It said that the election symbols would be allotted to the candidates on January 13 and the polling for general elections would be held on Thursday, February 8.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed Pakistan’s ongoing cooperation with SCO family, especially in the context of Pakistan’s role as the next Chair of SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG).

SNGPL disconnects 30 gas connections over illegal compressor use

MULTAN, Dec 20 (APP): Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has disconnected 30 Sui gas connections during ongoing drive against illegal compressors.
According to SNGPL official sources, the campaign against illegal usage of compressors and giving illegal extensions was underway across the region.
The task force led by Deputy Chief Engineer Hussain Zafar has launched a crackdown on a daily basis at various places to ensure gas supply to domestic consumers, under the directions of General Manager SNGPL Rashid Ishaq.
The teams removed 26 connections in Multan city and four from Mian Channu.
Rashid Ishaq said that the drive would continue till the complete elimination of illegal compressors so that the required gas pressure could be provided to citizens during the winter season.

OGRA PEMRA jointly launches massive awareness drive against substandard sale of cylinder

ISLAMABAD, Dec 19 (APP): Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’ Spokesperson Imran Ghaznavi Wednesday said that OGRA with the joint efforts of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) had launched a massive awareness drive against the sale and use of substandard gas cylinders during winter season for ensuring safety and well-being of consumers.
 “All LPG marketing companies have been advised to strictly ensure the compliance of safety instructions at distributor premises in order to avoid any untoward incident in future and conducting seminars and social media campaigns for the awareness of distributors,” he said while talking to a private news channel.
“Our awareness drive aims With these drives we are educating local companies for ensuring their respective distributors for thoroughly check the LPG cylinder with respect to any physical damage, leakage etc prior to handing over the same to the customers.”
“LPG marketing companies should also been advised to instruct their distributors to educate every customer through posters displayed at distributor’s premises on safe use of LPG cylinders and also circulate the brochure among the customers for the awareness of the safety measures,” he added.
 “It is a joint campaign and is a part of our preventive measures so as to ensure the safety of users of gas cylinders, he said.
“In a bid to avoid accidents at home, the campaign will inform users about the accurate safety method of transporting and handling the LPG cylinders,” he said.
“Our campaign is designed to remind people, particularly housewives, maids and workers, about the safe use  of cylinders in homes,” he added.

Creative design competition celebrates Silk Road Culture in Xi ‘an, China

BEIJING, Dec. 20 (APP): The first “Silk Road Culture Story” Creative Design Competition concluded with a grand award ceremony and an opening ceremony of the winning works exhibition at Xi ‘an Art Museum, Shaanxi last week and will last to the end of this month.

Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Khalil Hashmi said in a video message that as early as 2,000 years ago, the Silk Road built a bridge of friendship between Pakistan and China, two ancient civilizations.

“This competition showcases the unique culture and customs of each country, and promotes mutual understanding through wonderful works, which plays a positive role in promoting people-to-people exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative,” he added.

The exhibition of the winning works not only displayed the outstanding Silk Road creative works of this competition, but also presented intangible cultural heritage works, Dunhuang cultural creation, and exquisite artworks from Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Iran and other countries, China Economic Net (CEN) reported.

The exhibition reflects the time-honored and diverse culture of the Silk Road, as well as the innovation and integration of modern design.

Jiang Wei, Consul General of China in Almaty, Kazakhstan, noted that the competition is another vivid practice of friendly people-to-people exchanges between countries along the Belt and Road, and each work embodies the wisdom and creativity of the author and realizes the enhancement of friendship and inheritance of friendship through cultural and artistic exchanges.
