ISLAMABAD, Dec 29 (APP): Pakistan has received a request from the Indian authorities, seeking extradition of Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed, the Foreign Office spokesperson said Friday.
Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated this in response to media queries regarding India’s request to extradite Hafiz Saeed.
The spokesperson said the request had been made by India in a so-called money laundering case.
“It is pertinent to note that no bilateral extradition treaty exists between Pakistan and India,” she said.


KARACHI, Dec 29 (APP): All the banks and financial institutions will observe holiday on Monday and remain closed for public dealing.
“The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed for public dealing on Monday, January 01, 2024, which will be observed as bank holiday,” an SBP press release said on Friday.
“All banks, development finance institutions (DFIs), micro finance banks (MFBs) shall, therefore, remain closed for public dealing on the bank holiday as well,” it said. However, all employees of the banks, DFIs and MFBs would attend the office as usual, the SBP said.
ISLAMABAD, Dec 29 (APP): The Ministry of Health on Friday confirmed the presence of poliovirus in environmental samples of four districts of the country.
According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, poliovirus was found in four environmental samples from Karachi Kemari, Hyderabad, Chaman and Peshawar.
He said that Pakistan has the most extensive and sensitive polio surveillance system in the world.
He added polio surveillance systems lead to rapid virus confirmation.
He said that poliovirus quickly and easily targets children with weakened immune systems.
He said that polio vaccination is the only way to protect children from the virus and disability.
He said that parents must administer polio drops to children under five years of age during every campaign.
