Zong joins hands with D3 Communications to ensure high-speed internet connectivity
ISLAMABAD, May 03 (APP):Zong 4G, Pakistan’s top telecom operator, has joined hands with D3 Communications to eliminate the digital divide in Pakistan and empower the public through high-speed internet connectivity.

LHC CJ visits Rawalpindi Bench
RAWALPINDI, May 03 (APP): Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan of Friday visited the Rawalpindi Bench, where he was briefed on professional matters.
Upon his arrival at the Bench, the chief justice was warmly received by Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan, Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf and Justice Chaudhry Abdul Aziz.
During the briefing, various administrative issues were also discussed. The chief justice also took round of various sections of the bench, and appreciated the staff for their professionalism.
The chief justice, in his remarks, observed that the Rawalpindi Bench was playing an important role in dispensation of justice.
Rupee gains 10 pasia against US dollar
ISLAMABAD, May 3 (APP):Pakistani Rupee on Friday gained 10 paisa against the US dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs 278.20 against the previous day’s closing of Rs 278.30.
According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market, however, stood at Rs 277.35 and Rs 280.1 respectively.
The price of the Euro increased by 74 paisa and closed at Rs 298.85 against the last-day closing of Rs 298.11, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The Japanese Yen went up by 3 paisa and closed at Rs 1.81, whereas an increase of 82 paisa was witnessed in the exchange rate of the British Pound, which was traded at Rs 349.33 compared to the last closing of Rs 348.51.
The Emirates Dirham and the Saudi Riyal came down by 3 paisa each and closed at at Rs 75.74 and Rs 74.17 respectively.
IRSA releases 126,800 cusecs water
ISLAMABAD, May 3 (APP):Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on Friday released 126,800 cusecs water from various rim stations with inflow of 212,200 cusecs.
According to the data released by IRSA, water level in River Indus at Tarbela Dam was 1462.98 feet and was 48.98 feet higher than its dead level of 1,398 feet. Water inflow and outflow in the dam was recorded as 36,300 cusecs and 5,000 cusecs respectively.
The water level in River Jhelum at Mangla Dam was 1162.50 feet, which was 111.50 feet higher than its dead level of 1,050 feet. The inflow and outflow of water was recorded 79,100 cusecs and 25,000 cusecs respectively.
The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa , Guddu and Sukkur was recorded as 56,400, 65,600, 47,900 and 13,600 cusecs respectively.
Similarly, from River Kabul, a total of 70,000 cusecs of water released at Nowshera and 17,600 cusecs released from River Chenab at Marala.

Pakistan tour to South Africa confirmed for December

LAHORE, May 03 (APP):The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday released the itinerary for the Pakistan Men’s cricket team’s tour to South Africa for two tests, three T20Is, and as many ODIs between December 10, 2024 and January 7, 2025.
The two test matches will be part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 and played at Centurion (26-30 December) and Cape Town (3-7 January). Durban, Centurion, and Johannesburg will host the T20Is from 10-14 December while the ODIs will be played from 17-22 December in Paarl, Cape Town, and Johannesburg.
After completing the African safari on January 8, the national side will take on New Zealand and South Africa in a three-nation ODI tournament on home turf, which will be followed by the eight-team ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.
The Men in Green are due to depart for Durban on 2 December after returning from Australia on 19 November, having featured in a series of three ODIs and three T20Is from 4-18 November.
Prior to the tours of Australia and South Africa, Pakistan will host Bangladesh and England for two and three Tests, respectively. This means they will play seven Tests, minimum of 10 ODIs, and six T20Is in the six-month period from August 2024 to January 2025.
This will be Pakistan’s seventh Test tour of South Africa since 1994-95. Their two Test wins were in the 1997-98 and 2006-2007 series. In the Durban Test in 1997-98, Pakistan won by 29 runs at the back of centuries from Azhar Mahmood (132) and Saeed Anwar (118), match figures of nine for 149 by Mushtaq Ahmed and a first innings five-fer by Shoaib Akhtar. In the 2006-2007 Port Elizabeth Test, Pakistan won by five wickets with Inzamam-ul-Haq being named as Player of the Match for his 92 in the first innings.
In ODIs, Pakistan has won two of the last three series in 2013-2014 and 2020-21, while South Africa triumphed in 2002-2003 (4-1), 2006-2007 (3-1), 2012-2013 (3-2), and 2018-2019 (3-2).
In 12 T20Is to date, Pakistan leads 6-5 in head-to-head encounters, with one match ending in no-result.
