Domestic gold rates remain unchanged, decline by $2 at Int’l market

ISLAMABAD, Feb 12 (APP): The per tola price of 24 karat gold remained unchanged at Rs.214,300 in the local market on Monday, the All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported

The price of 10 grams of 24 karat and 10 gram 22 karat gold remained stagnant at Rs.183,728 and Rs.168,416 respectively whereas per tola and ten gram silver was trade at existing rates of Rs.2,600 and 2,229.08 respectively.

However, the price of gold in the international market decreased by $2 to $2,043 from $.2,045, the Association reported.

Cloudy weather forecasts for Sukkur

SUKKUR, Feb 12 (APP):The local Met Office on Monday has forecast dry to partly cloudy weather for the rest of Sukkur for the next 24 hours.

The highest maximum temperature 22 centigrade recorded during last 24 hours.

The dry to partly cloudy weather has also been forecast for rest of the region.

PR collects Rs 74.8 mln from ticketless passengers

ISLAMABAD, Feb 12 (APP):Pakistan Railways has collected an amount of Rs 74.8 million from ticket-less passengers in a crackdown during the three two months with the help of railway police and train staffers.
“Around 58,446 passengers found travelling without tickets in different trains and collected the said amount from them, which is deposited in the official bank account of the department,” sources in the Ministry told APP.
They said that it was not the first time that action was taken on a large scale against ticket-less passengers, adding that these types of crackdowns had taken place daily.
The sources said that ticketless travelling was illegal, and those who were caught without a ticket were charged a ticket price for the whole journey of the train besides the penalty. Those who do not pay are handed over to the railway police.
To a question, they said that Pakistan Railways Police claimed to have arrested a total of 3,923 accused due to their involvement in violations of rules and laws and also registered some 3,625 cases against them in eight Railways divisions over one year.
“Around 658 cases were registered in Peshawar Division, 577 in Rawalpindi, 1,044 in Lahore, 326 in Mughalpura workshops, 393 in Multan, 208 in Sukkur, 346 in Karachi, and 73 in Quetta Division,” they added.
They said the Railways Police Help Desks had been established at all the major railway stations across the country, and the performance of the Railways Police has been quite satisfactory during the last year.
Regarding the performance of the railway police, they said, “Police are performing duties efficiently despite the limited resources, and the performance of the railway police will be further improved to the optimum level during the next year.”

Two railway gates closed for non-payment:

SARGODHA, Feb 12 (APP):The railway department has closed two railway gates in the city for all kinds of traffic due to non-payment of dues by the Municipal Corporation Sargodha.
Talking to APP here on Monday,the Assistant Engineer Muhammad Akhtar said that the railway gate number 75 at Katchery road and gate number 76 near Trust plaza were closed due to non-payment of dues of Rs 30 million by the MC which were pending for the last 3 years.
After several meetings and letters sent to Chief Executive Officer MC Tariq Proya while the MC did not paid the dues after which the decision was made to close these gates,the AE Railway said.
Similarly, the highway department in Sargodha division also has to pay pending dues about Rs 50 million, against which action would be taken soon and the railway gates coming in the area of highways would also be closed,he warned.

ECP establishes four dedicated counters for election petition filings

According to ECP spokesman, these four counters are located in front of the commission building, with a separate counter designated for receiving applications from each province.

Expert stresses awareness, family counseling of parents having autistic children

ISLAMABAD, Feb 12 (APP):The health expert on Monday stressed the need for awareness to cope with the autism disease, as early detection and therapy are the keys for the management of children with autism.

While talking to PTV News, a Psychiatrist Dr Uzma Masroor explained that autism is a spectrum disorder that refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with speech, nonverbal communication, social skills, and repetitive behavior.

“Children with autism are capable of learning like any other children,” she said, adding that there is a stigma that people are usually judgmental towards such kids and pass unwanted advice to the caretakers.

She said that consistent media campaigns are raising awareness which is opening doors of opportunities for the children challenged with autism. She said that autism rehabilitation services are helping in providing support and training to the families for managing their kids with patience.

Dr Uzama underlined that biomedical therapy helps a child in healing gradually from autism.

Answering a question, she said that most of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) cases are detected in the developing years of children, and early intervention plays an extremely significant role in improving a child’s verbal and social development.

“It is the need of the hour to recognize and dispel the misconceptions to promote greater identification, understanding, and creating acceptance of those living with the condition,” she added.

She advised that there is a need to create more awareness among the public about autism to address this debilitating illness.

ANF recovers 340 kg drugs in five operations

RAWALPINDI, Feb 12 (APP): Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) while conducting five operations across the country managed to recover 340 kg of drugs and arrested two accused, said an ANF Headquarters spokesman here on Monday.

He informed that 158 kg hashish and 99 kg opium were recovered from the possession of an accused arrested near Kohat Road Peshawar.

30 kg hashish was recovered from Jeewani Road, Gwadar and 28 kg opium, 4 kg heroin and 2 kg Ice drug were recovered from G.T. Road Nowshera and an accused was arrested during the operation.

In two other operations, 19 kg of hashish was recovered from the Jarobi Zakhakhel area.

Separate cases under the Anti-Narcotics Act have been registered against the arrested accused and further investigations are under process.

Man killed, two women injured in bike crash

MUZAFFARGARH, Feb 12 (APP):Bike rider was killed with two women were injured by hitting with truck coming behind at Mian Wali road near pathan hotel.
The rescuer said the motorbike got crashed with the truck was hit with the car first of all which was ahead of it.
M. Shakeel, 45, son of Bashir Ahmad, succumbed to head injuries on the spot. His both of legs got multiple fracture as well.
The injured including Naseem Akhtar, 42, w/o Shakeel Ahmad, and Shaista, 50, w/o Munawar wounded at knee joint of the left leg and both of legs fractured respectively.
The victims were removed to Nishtar Hospital Multan after giving them emergency treatment on the location.
Police of the concerned jurisdiction were informed which started the investigation.

Two women elected in KP elections

PESHAWAR, Feb 12 (APP):Two independent female candidates have emerged victorious in the recent elections, securing general seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Suraya Bibi, contesting on PK-1 provincial assembly seat, clinched victory with an impressive margin, securing 18,914 votes. Her closest competitor, a candidate from JUI-F, trailed behind with 10,533 votes.

Similarly, Shandana Gulzar Khan made waves by securing a landslide victory on the National Assembly seat NA-30, garnering a remarkable 78,971 votes.

Her nearest rival, representing JUI-F, managed to secure only 20,950 votes.
