Pakistan condemns Israel’s military aggression against Rafah City in Gaza

ISLAMABAD, Feb 12 (APP):Pakistan Monday strongly condemned Israel’s military aggression against Rafah city in Gaza and the resulting destruction and massacre of the Palestinian people.

In a statement, the Spokesperson said, “Israel’s offensive in Rafah violates the provisional measures indicated by the International Court of Justice to protect the people of Gaza from genocide. It will further aggravate the humanitarian disaster witnessed in Gaza over the last 4 months and jeopardize the ongoing efforts for a potential ceasefire.”

She urged the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to take urgent measures to bring an immediate end to Israeli aggression and its incessant crimes against humanity.

Five independent candidates meet Shehbaz Sharif, join PML-N

LAHORE, Feb 12 (APP):Five independent candidates, who emerged victorious in the general election, called on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif, here on Monday.
Sardar Shamsher Mazari who won the election from NA-189, Imran Akram from PP-195, Sohail Khan from PP-240, Khizar Hussain Mazari from PP-297, and Sahibzada Muhammad Ghazain Abbasi from PP-249 were among those who met with the PML-N President. All five members expressed confidence in PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif and announced their decision to officially join the PML-N.
Shehbaz Sharif extended a warm welcome and congratulations to the independent members for joining the party, saying that they have become part of collective efforts to enhance Pakistan’s beauty and drag the country out of various challenges. He emphasized that economic stability and the well-being of the people remain the paramount priorities for his party. He expressed his resolve to serve the people of Pakistan with increased vigour and dedication.
The newly elected members expressed gratitude for the dedicated services and commitment of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif to the country and its people. They emphasized the necessity of Nawaz Sharif’s genuine vision, development agenda, and service experience for the nation’s progress.

ECP directs re-polling in 7 polling stations of NA-253, PB-9 Kohlu on Feb 16

ISLAMABAD, Feb 12 (APP):The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has notified the conduct of re-polling in 7 polling stations in NA-253 and PB-9 Kohlu on Feb 16.
According to a notification, the polling in these constituencies was delayed due to law and order situation. The commission has instructed the chief secretary.

Following the hearing of election petitions, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has instructed Returning Officers from six National and Provincial assembly constituencies to refrain from announcing final results.
A two-member commission bench led by Nisar Durrani, along with Member Balochistan Shah Muhammad Jatoi, presided over the hearing of a petition challenging election results. The bench has restrained the announcement of final results for two provincial assembly constituencies: PP-14 Naseerabad, PP-44 Quetta, PP-33 Gujrat, PP-126, and PP-128 Jhang.
Babar Awan, representing PTI, urged for stringent punishments for the returning officers found to have violated their oath. Furthermore, he pressed for a recount in NA-106 Toba Tek Singh and requested the relevant returning officer to furnish a report.
Meanwhile, the ECP has instructed the RO Sialkot to halt the issuance of the success notification for Khawaja Asif, a winning candidate of NA-171. This directive was issued during the commission’s review of a petition filed by Rehana Dar, an independent candidate of NA-171, who asserts victory with a lead of 50,000 votes as per Form 45. The commission directed the returning officer to provide a detailed report and postponed the hearing until February 14th.

Tessori attends 45th anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution celebrations

DG KDA reviews ongoing uplift works

KARACHI, Feb 12 (APP):Director General of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Naveed Anwar reviewed the ongoing renovation work in the Civic Center Building and the ongoing development work around the building.
On the occasion, he said that the process of renovation of Civic Center Building should be completed as soon as possible, in this regard, the relevant authorities should immediately use all resources to complete the development works, said a statement on Monday.
DG KDA Naveed Anwar was briefed about the ongoing development works while he issued orders to Chief Engineer Tariq Rafi to complete the development works with in the stipulated period by increasing the manpower and machinery.
He further said that a Vigilance Center has been set up in Civic Center Building to prevent suspicious activities whereas all departments of KDA are being monitored on daily basis.
Moreover, DG KDA directed the Electrical and Mechanical Executive Engineer that cleaning and sanitation should be performed on a daily basis in the civic center building, in this regard no negligence will be tolerated.
The process of cutting unnecessary trees and planting new trees in the building is also going on, which will further enhance the beauty of the building, while the non-functional fountains in the building are being re-activated.

CED organises “Boot Camp” programme

According to the statement, on its first day, boot camp was organized with students on Monday at Khatoon-e-Pakistan Govt.
Girls Degree College Karachi brings together male and female students from various colleges across the city.
The prime objective was to engage students in the pivotal task of shaping a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework.

Two leopard cubs recovered from Jabbari forest in Abbotabad

PESHAWAR, Feb 12 (APP):Two leopard cubs are recovered from Jabbari forest in Abbottabad district by Wildlife Department officials on Monday.
According to Wildlife Official, Abdul Khaliq, the two leopard cubs are un-weaned with ages ranging between two to three months.
The minor leopards were handed over to the Wildlife Department by locals of the area who found them in the forest. The pair is shifted to an enclosure for feeding milk and taking care of them.
Search for the mother of the leopard cubs is also in progress to get the lost cub returned to the wilderness, Abdul Khaliq told media men. He said due to excessive deforestation wild species are affected and coming close to human dwellings.

Funeral prayer of martyred ASI offered

LARKANA, Feb 12 (APP):The funeral prayer of ASI Syed Sultan Hussain Shah, who was martyred in exchange of fire between the supporters of two political parties on Sunday, was offered on Monday.
Besides DSP Headquarters Sarfraz Ahmad Pechuho, officers and personnel of law enforcement forces, a large of people from all walks of life attended the Namaz-e-Janaza.
He was later laid to rest with full official honours. Wreaths were placed at his grave on behalf of Inspector General of Police Sindh, and Director General of Rangers Sindh

Askari Tower attack: ATC sends Khalid Gujjar to jail on judicial remand

LAHORE, Feb 12 (APP):An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday sent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Khalid Mahmood Gujjar to jail on 14-day judicial remand in the Askari Tower attack case.
Earlier, the police produced Khalid Gujjar before ATC Judge Muhammad Naveed Iqbal on expiry of his physical remand. The police requested the court to extend the physical remand of the accused as investigations could not be completed from him.
However, the court turned down the plea for physical remand and sent Khalid Gujjar to jail on 14-day judicial remand. The court directed for producing the accused on expiry of judicial remand.
The Gulberg police had registered a case against Khalid Gujjar and other PTI leaders and workers for attacking Askari Tower during May-9 violence.
