Pakistan, Somalia discuss increased coordination at OIC

ISLAMABAD, Feb 13 (APP): Pakistan and Somalia have discussed ways and means for increased coordination at the platform of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) besides other issues of mutual interest including regional and international developments.

The discussion came during a meeting between Pakistan’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to OIC Syed M Fawad Sher and Somalia’s Permanent Representative to OIC Abdul Rahim Osman, the envoy posted on X.

During the meeting, the two sides vowed to continue cooperation in diverse fields.

Sharjeel grieves over Eng. Abdul Aziz Junejo’s death

KARACHI, Feb 13 (APP):Former Minister for Information Sindh Sharjeel Inam has expressed sorrow and grief over the sad demise of MPA elect Eng. Abdul Aziz Junejo, who breathed his last here in Karachi on Tuesday morning.
In a statement, Sharjeel Memon said late Junejo was a committed party leader and his death was a great loss for the Pakistan People’s Party.
While paying tribute, Sharjeel said the services of late Abdul Aziz Junejo for the party will be remembered forever.
He expressed condolence and sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to be in eternal peace.

SIALKOT, Feb 13 (APP):President Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sialkot (WCCIS) Dr. Mariam Nouman said that the trade and industrial exhibition “We Exhibit 2024”  that would be start in March this year,would be an excellent opportunity for the women entrepreneurs to showcase and highlights their products and bring up their businesses to the next level.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, President WCCIS said that “Exhibit and explore to grow, the way you deserve to grow because together we excel”.
She said that WCCIS offered Premium, Gold and Silver packages for the exhibitors to ensure maximum participation of women.
President WCCIS added that more booths were booked for “We Exhibit 2024” than last year as well as the exhibition was extended up to two days so that maximum number of women could get benefit.
Dr. Mariam Nouman said that about 80 exhibitors participated in this exhibition last year where as there will be more than 120 exhibitors this year in March 2024.
“Free stalls would be provided to disabled business women”,she concluded.

MPA elect Abdul Aziz Junejo passes away

KARACHI, Feb 13 (APP):Engineer Abdul Aziz Junejo, the recently elected MPA from Khairpur Nathan Shah, district Dadu, has passed away due to health complications here on Tuesday.
Abdul Aziz Junejo was elected MPA from PPP on PS-80 on the February 08 polls.
He breathed his last in a private hospital here in the early hours of Tuesday morning due to health complications.
Junejo has been declared as the winner as he secured 52131 votes in the February 08 elections held on PS-80.
The news of his passing away has sent shockwaves through the political circles.
The family sources confirmed the sad demise of MPA elect Abdul Aziz Junejo.
He will be laid to rest at an ancestral graveyard at Khanpur Junejo near Khairpur Nathan Shah late in the evening.

Crackdown: 12 kite flyers arrested

FAISALABAD, Feb 13 (APP):The district police during crackdown arrested 12 kite flyers and seized 15,000 kites and 500 string rolls here during the last 24 hours.
Police said on Tuesday that on the instructions of CPO Muhammad Ali Zia, the teams of various police stations conducted raids and arrested 12 accused and recovered 15000 kites,500 string rolls and other material from their possession.
Separate cases were registered against all under anti-kite flying act.

Gold rates remain unchanged at Rs 214,300 per tola

ISLAMABAD, Feb 13 (APP):The per tola price of 24 karat gold remained unchanged at Rs 214,300 in the local market on Tuesday, the All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported
The price of 10 grams of 24 karat and 10 gram 22 karat gold remained stagnant at Rs 183,728 and Rs 168,416 respectively whereas per tola and ten gram silver was trade at existing rates of Rs 2,600 and Rs 2,229.08 respectively.
The price of gold in the international market also remained unchanged at $2,043, the Association reported.

Mangla dam water level at continual decline

MIRPUR-AJK, Feb 13 (APP):The water level of the second largest reservoir in the country, Mangla Dam is on the verge of continual decline due to low inflows to the reservoir on Tuesday.
According to official sources, the water level in the dam was reported as 1141.85 feet against the maximum conservation level of 1242 feet. The dam is only 100 feet away from its minimum operating level of 1050 feet.
The dam was filled to its maximum conservation capacity of 1242 feet on August 17, this year. However, since then, the water level has been declining due to low inflows from the Jhelum River.
The inflows and outflows of the Jhelum River at Mangla reservoir were recorded respectively as 5700 and 35000 cusecs of water from the dam.
The situation is likely to worsen in the coming days as the winter season approaches and the flow of water in the Jhelum River decreases.
If the water level in the dam falls below the minimum operating level, it could have serious consequences for the country’s water supply and irrigation system.

JI Central Committee announces intra-party elections

PESHAWAR, Feb 13 (APP):The Central Committee of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Tuesday announced  that intra party elections would be held on March 31.
According to the JI office, Siraj-ul-Haq, Liaquat Baloch and Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman would be candidates for central leadership, adding that some 50,000 members of JI would cast a vote for future Ameer of the party.
It is pertinent to mention here that Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Siraj-ul-Haq resigned from the party leadership soon after losing the general elections in the country.

China urges Israel to immediately stop military operation in Rafah

BEIJING, Feb 13 (APP): China on Tuesday called on Israel to immediately stop its military operations, do everything possible to avoid casualties among innocent civilians and prevent a more devastating humanitarian disaster in Rafah.

“China is closely watching the developments in Rafah. We oppose and condemn acts against civilians and international law,” said a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson when asked to comment on Israel’s heavy strikes in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

“We call on Israel to stop military operations as soon as possible, do everything possible to avoid casualties among innocent civilians and prevent a more devastating humanitarian disaster in Rafah,” he added.

According to reports, Israel launched large-scale airstrikes in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, causing heavy casualties.

The Israeli military says it plans to launch a ground offensive against Rafah.

The highest maximum temperature 22 centigrade and the lowest minimum 08 centigrade were recorded during the last 24 hours.
The dry weather has also been forecast for the rest of the region.
