Two arrested with 800 kites and 33 string rolls

SIALKOT, Feb 21 (APP):The District police claimed to have arrested two persons with kites and string rolls here in the jurisdiction of Naikapura police station on Wednesday.
According to police spokesperson, Station House Officer (SHO) Muradpur,Muhammad Razzaq along with police team recovered more than 800 different sized kites and 33 chemical string rolls from Muhammad Suleman and Sharafat during checking at Kashmir road.
A case was registered against the accused under the kite flying act and sent them behind the bars.

Rescue 1122 Abbottabad recovers 10 stranded tourist vehicles from Snow from Galyat

ABBOTTABAD, Feb 21 (APP):Rescue 1122 Abbottabad recovered 10 vehicles of tourists and locals who were trapped in snow at Toheedabad Galyat late Tuesday night.
During the three days long continuous heavy snowfall spell, Galyat and surrounding areas received up to 3 feet of snow which has blocked roads and communication links but still a large number of tourists reached in the region to enjoy the live snowfall.
According to the Rescue 1122 sources, tourists’ vehicles became stranded between Tohidabad and Kundala due to heavy snowfall in the region where Rescue 1122 teams arrived at the scene and initiated rescue operations to assist the stuck vehicles.
More than 10 vehicles were successfully pulled out from the snow-affected area, among those affected were tourists and locals who found themselves caught in the snow-covered roads.
Rescue 1122 facilitated the passenger vehicles in a convoy towards their intended destinations, ensuring their safety amidst challenging conditions. The attraction of snowfall in Galyat has fascinated a significant number of tourists to the region,
District administration and Rescue 1122 have warned citizens about the increased risk of sliding on snow-covered roads, they urged them to follow the guidelines while travelling in the hilly terrain.
Tourists have also been advised to promptly contact Rescue 1122 in case of emergencies, ensuring timely assistance during their visit.

Weather in KP to be cold, partly cloudy

PESHAWAR, Feb 21 (APP):The weather in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to be cold and partly cloudy and will remain very cold in the upper regions of the province, the official of the Meteorological Department said here Wednesday.
Chance of rain with thunder and wind in Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad and Karam and snowfall on mountains, the official of the Meteorological Department said. He said yesterday, there was rain in most of the districts and snow on the mountains.
Highest rainfall in Charat 78 mm recorded, 56 mm of rain fell in Dir, 40 mm rain in Mingora, Swat,
Parachinar 37 mm, Kalam 36 mm and Patan 34 mm rain, Kakul 33 mm, Balakot 32 mm and Malam Jabba received 27 mm of rain with 16 inches of snowfall in Kalam, 12 inches of snowfall in Drosh, Chitral and Malam Jabba received 8 inches of snow, 2 inch snowfall recorded in Dir, the official in Meteorological Department said.
Peshawar minimum temperature 6 degrees Celsius recorded and in Kalam, the mercury has dropped below freezing, the temperature is minus 8 degree Celsius, Malam Jabba minus 5, Dir and Drosh minus 2 degrees Celsius recorded, the official said.

Six buildings sealed

SARGODHA, Feb 21 (APP):The Municipal Corporation enforcement team sealed six buildings for starting construction without a map approval in the city,here on Wednesday.
According to official sources,on the direction of Chief Officer Municipal Corporation (MC) Tariq Proya, the enforcement team checked various buildings which were being constructed in RehmanPura Road,Basti Isaia,Noori Gate,Lorri Adda road and sealed six buildings for starting construction without a map approval.
Legal action was also being taken against the owners Muhammad Zulfiqar, Muhammad Ashraf, Qasim, Muhammad Shahzad, Abdul Qayyum and Muhammad Asghar,they added.

200-kg unhealthy meat discarded

SARGODHA, Feb 21 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Wednesday launched a crackdown against slaughter houses and meat shops which were selling substandard meat in the district.
According to a spokesperson,the team raided at a meat shop located near Eid Gah road and discarded 200-kg unhealthy meat.

World Bank delegation visits T-5 project Tarbela to review progress

TARBELA, Feb 21 (APP):A delegation from the World Bank (WB) conducted a thorough inspection of the ongoing work at the Tarbela Dam T-5 extension project aimed at enhancing the dam’s capacity.
During the visit they received a detailed briefing regarding the project’s progress, highlighting its significance in generating 1530 megawatts of electricity upon completion.
The World Bank delegation inspected the site of the fifth extension project of Tarbela Dam, GM Tarbela Anwar Shah and Chief Engineer T-5 Wasim Raza gave a detailed briefing to the delegation about the project’s progress and achievements thus far.
The project’s completion is advancing at a rapid pace, promising to deliver 1530 megawatts of electricity upon its culmination. It is anticipated that electricity production from the project will commence by August 2025, substantially increasing the total electricity output from the Tarbela Dam from 4888 megawatts to 6418 megawatts.
General Manager Tarbela Dam Anwar Shah, Chief Engineers T-5 Wasim Raza and T-4 Taurish Kumar, Consultant Chief T-5 Mark Gill, Director T-5 Electrical Azir Sumro, Director T-5 Faisal Hayat, and AD Public Relations Tarbela Dam Javaid Iqbal were present during the visit of WB delegation.

300 kites recovered

SARGODHA, Feb 21 (APP):The district police during a crackdown against kite sellers and kite makers arrested three kite sellers and recovered 300 kites from their possession, here on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson said that the teams raided at different localities of the city and held Nadeem,Shakeel and Shakoor besides recovering of 300 kites from them.
Further investigation was underway.

Two killed in road mishap

SARGODHA, Feb 21 (APP):Two youths were killed in a road accident here on Sargodha road in the jurisdiction of Luxian police station on Wednesday.
According to police, Shoaib Ali (28) and Ali Usman (39), residents of Jhal Chakian area, were travelling towards Sargodha on motorcycle when a speeding bus hit the two-wheelers. Consequently, both died on the spot.
Police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to Civil hospital for necessary legal formalities.
