Gold rates up by Rs 100 per tola to Rs 215,300

ISLAMABAD, Feb 22 (APP): The price of per tola 24 karat gold increased by Rs 100 and was sold at Rs 215,300 on Thursday compared to its sale at Rs 215,200 on the last trading day.

The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also increased by Rs 85 to Rs 184,585 from Rs 184,500 whereas the prices of 10 gram 22 karat gold went up to Rs 169,203 from Rs 169,124, the All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported.

The price of per tola and ten-gram silver remained constant at Rs 2,570 and Rs 2,203.36 respectively.

The price of gold in the international market increased by $3 to $2,051 from $2,048, the Association reported.

Pak inks agreement to export skilled workers to Saudi Arabia in construction sector

ISLAMABAD, Feb 22 (APP): Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Jawad Sohrab Malik has signed an agreement recently with NESMA & Partners for the export of skilled Pakistani labor to Saudi Arabia. The agreement was signed at the Embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, said a press release received here on Thursday.

The agreement marks a pivotal collaboration between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, paving the way for the export of a substantial Pakistani workforce to contribute to Saudi Arabia’s ambitious infrastructure and development goals.

NESMA & Partners, as the leading construction company in Saudi Arabia, holds responsibility for numerous mega-projects within the kingdom.

The agreement would provide Pakistani workers with the opportunity to showcase their expertise and contribute to the success of these critical infrastructure projects.

Jawad Sohrab Malik highlighted the exceptional reputation of Pakistani workers for their dedication and hard work.

The agreement was signed between the Pakistan Overseas Employment Corporation (POEC) and NESMA & Partners.

The POEC is a government agency responsible for the recruitment and deployment of Pakistani workers abroad.

NESMA & Partners is a leading Saudi Arabian construction company with a portfolio of mega-projects in the kingdom.

The agreement is expected to create significant job opportunities for Pakistani workers in Saudi Arabia. It will also help to strengthen the economic ties between the two countries.

The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia, Ahmad Farooq, Director-General of the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE), and the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, along with community welfare attachés.

ICT admin introduces convenient vehicle services at Trail 3

ISLAMABAD, Feb 22 (APP): On the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, a new initiative has been launched to streamline vehicle-related services for the residents of Islamabad.

According to the spokesman of ICT, Dr Abdullah Tabasum, this initiative was aimed to provide easy access to essential services, bringing them closer to the community.

The excise staff would be stationed at the parking area of Trail 3 from 3 to 5 pm, facilitating vehicle registration, transfer, and token tax processes, he added.

The ICT Doorstep Service initiative offers a variety of documents and permits, including Domicile Certificates, Birth Certificates, Power of Attorney, International Driving Permits, Fuel Permits (Domestic/Commercial), and Motor Vehicle Registrations.

CEO Health reviews arrangements for anti-polio campaign

NAROWAL, Feb 22 (APP):The arrangements for the five-day anti-polio campaign starting from 26th February was reviewed under the chairmanship of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Health Narowal Dr. Naveed Haider during a special meeting.
DO Health Dr. Muhammad Tariq, District Coordinator National Program Dr. Zahid Randhawa, DDHOs, Dr. Khalid Mehmood, Qaiser Waseem DSV Mujahid Ali and other In-charge doctors participated in the meeting.
CEO Health Dr. Naveed Haider said that during the five-day campaign, 370,912 children up to five years will be given anti-polio vaccine along with Vitamin-A drops.
A total of 1,292 teams have been formed for the polio campaign, including 81 fixed teams, 1,173 mobile teams and 38 transit teams.
“Practical measures should be adopted to achieve real goal i.e polio-free Pakistan”,he concluded.

Police arrest two bike lifters with seven motorcycles

RAWALPINDI, Feb 22 (APP): Police have arrested two bike lifters and recovered six stolen and a snatched motorcycle from their possession, said a Police spokesman here on Thursday.
He informed that a team under the supervision of SHO, Naseerabad Police Station managed to net two bike lifters namely Bilal and Zahid and recovered six stolen, a snatched motorcycle and other items from their possession.
A case has been registered against the accused while further investigation is underway.
Superintendent of Police, Potohar Nisar Nawaz said the accomplices and facilitators of the accused would also be sent behind bars

Shipping Activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI, Feb 22 (APP): The movements of ships was recorded at the port where eight ships namely, Xpress Salween, Maersk Cabo Verde, MSC Ellen, Wide Alpha, Chemroad Haya, Corona, Ullswater and Agia Erini Force carrying Containers, Chemicals, Palm oil, LPG and Coal, berthed at Container Terminal, Engro Terminal, Liquid Terminal, SSGC Terminal and Bulk Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
Meanwhile two more ships, Medi Chiba and XT Dolphin with Canola seeds and Palm oil also arrived at
outer anchorage of the port during the same day.
A total of six ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them four ships, Simaisam, Xpress Salween, Wide Alpha and MSC Ellen left the port on today morning and four more ships, Maersk Cabo Verde, Visayas,
Torm Elizabeth and Chemroad Haya are expected to sail on today afternoon. A cargo volume of 252,114 tonnes, comprising 206,028 tonnes imports cargo and 46,086 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 6,181
Containers (3,771 TEUs Imports and 2,410 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.
There are 13 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them a general cargo carrier ‘Rong Da Chang Sha’ and another ship APL Le Havre carrying Havey lift cargo and Containers are expected to take berth MW-2 and QICT on
Thursday, while another Containers ship APL Le Havre is due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day and two more container ships, Mombasa Express and Hansa Rotenburg are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Friday

Police arrest two gang members

RAWALPINDI, Feb 22 (APP): District Police have arrested two members of a robbery gang involved in looting a citizen here on Thursday.

According to a police spokesman the accused, identified as Subhan and Noman had robbed a house in the area of Kalar Syedan.

He informed that an investigation in this regard has been initiated. Important disclosures are expected from the accused, he added.

Superintendent Police (Sadar) appreciated the police action and reiterated that those who attack the lives and property of citizens will not escape from the grip of the law.

Two ‘car snatchers’ booked

RAWALPINDI, Feb 22 (APP): District police have arrested two suspects who snatched a car from a citizen at gunpoint.
According to a police spokesman, an effective operation was launched against the criminals by Rawat police here Thursday during which the accused, identified as Gohar and Shahzeb were arrested. The stolen car has been recovered, he informed.
According to details, the accused booked the car online and snatched it at gunpoint.
SP Sadar while congratulating the police team said that the arrested accused would be brought to court with solid evidence.

Urdu poet Josh Malihabadi being remembered

ISLAMABAD, Feb 22 (APP): The 42nd death anniversary of famous Urdu poet and prose writer Josh Malihabadi is being observed on Thursday.

He is remembered as a ‘Poet of Revolution’.

His real name was Shabbir Hassan Khan. His father Bashir Ahmad Khan Bashir, grandfather Muhammad Ahmad Khan Ahmad and great grandfather Faqir Muhammad Khan Goya were all well-known poets.

Josh Malih Abadi started poetry at an early age. He started his practical life by working in Dar-ul-Tarjuma Usmania (Hyderabad State).

He lost both his job and state citizenship due to a poem against the system of Hyderabad. He came to Delhi and published magazine ‘Kaleem’.

Josh Malihabadi also remained associated with All India Radio. He was also the editor of ‘Aaj Kal’, the official magazine of Indian Government. He received Padma Bhushan Award in 1954.

After moving to Pakistan in 1955, he started work along with founder of Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Urdu Maulvi Abdul Haque in the preparation of Urdu dictionary. He was also Editor of magazine ‘Urdu Nama’.

Josh Malih Abadi also wrote songs for films. The song ‘Ae Watan Hum Hain Teri Shama Ke Parwanon Main, for the film ‘Aag Ka Darya’ became popular. He also wrote columns under the title of ‘Ilm wa Fikr’ in daily Jang.

Josh’s prominent poetry works include ‘Rooh-e-Adab’, ‘Shaer ki Raatain, ‘Naqsh o Nigar’, ‘Shula Aur Shabnam’, ‘Fikr o Nishat’, ‘Janun-O- Hikmat’, ‘Harf o Hikayat’, ‘Ayat o Naghmat’ , ‘Arsh o Farsh’, ‘Ramsh o Rang’, ‘Sumbal o Salasil’, ‘Saif o Sabu’, ‘Sarud o Sarosh’, ‘Samoom o Saba’, ‘Taloo-e- Fikr’, ‘Ilhaam o Ifkaar’, ‘Mohid o Mufakkir, ‘Najoom o Jawahir’, ‘Josh kay 100 Sher’, ‘Paighamber-e-Islam’, ‘Josh Key Marseeay.

The famous prose books of Josh Malih Abadi are: ‘Maqalat-e-Zarrin’, ‘Auraq-e-Sahar’, ‘Irshadaat’, ‘Jazbaat-e-Fitrat’, ‘Maqalat-e-Josh’, ‘Mukalmaat-e-Josh’ and ‘Yaadon ki Barat’.

He was posthumously awarded Hilal Imtiaz in 2013. He was died on this day in 1982 in Islamabad at 83.

Seven power pilferers booked

SARGODHA, Feb 22 (APP):The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) caught seven power pilferers during an ongoing crackdown here on Thursday.
According to official sources, a task force team raided various areas of the district
and caught seven accused, including Imran Haider, Bilal, Liaquat, Safdar.
Police registered cases against the accused.
