Governor Sindh meets with CM Punjab

LAHORE, Feb 23 (APP):Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori met with the Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi and congratulated him on being elected as Chairman PCB.
The Governor Sindh lauded the performance of the CM on getting the public welfare projects for the people of Punjab completed in a record time frame.
The CM while talking with the Governor Sindh acknowledged that the whole team in the Punjab government worked day and night and strived to their utmost to serve the people of Punjab in short span of 13 months only. “InshaAllah, Pakistan will attain its destination of progress, prosperity and the future of our country is very bright,” he added.
Mohsin Naqvi extended an invited to the Governor Sindh to watch a PSL match. Farooq Sattar and Mustafa Kamal were also present on the occasion.

70 newly elected MNAs completed registration process at National Assembly

ISLAMABAD, Feb 23 (APP): After successfully making their way to the Lower House of the Parliament, so far 70 newly elected members of the National Assembly (MNAs) have completed their registration process at the Secretariat.

The process of registration of the newly elected MNAs was continued in the facilitation center established in the National Assembly Secretariat, the Spokesperson of the National Assembly said in a news release.

He said the Facilitation Center had been established in Committee Room No. 2 of the National Assembly.

“The newly elected members of the National Assembly are requested to come to the facilitation center and complete their registration and other necessary documentation,” the NA official said.

The Facilitation Center will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm for registration, card and photo making of the MNAs.

He urged that the newly elected MNAs who had not registered were requested to visit the facilitation center and complete the registration process.

“Photographs are being taken at the Facilitation Center for the registration cards and other necessary documents of the newly elected honorable members of the National Assembly,” he said.

It should be noted that before the opening session of the 16th National Assembly, the newly elected members of the National Assembly must complete the assembly card and other necessary documents.

“Newly elected members are requested to complete their registration by coming to the facility on time to avoid any problem due to possible rush. They are advised to keep their national identity cards and other necessary documents with them for registration,” the National Assembly spokesperson said.

NDMA alerts provincial, national authorities after rain-thunderstorms, snowfall forecast

ISLAMABAD, Feb 23 (APP): The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Friday issued an advisory to alert all national and provincial disaster management authorities and relevant departments to ensure precautionary arrangement to manage any emergency situation.

The NDMA Technical Team and Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast that a westerly wave was entering from 25th February 2024 and might persist till 27th February, the advisory said.

However, under the influence of the intruding weather system, rain-wind and thunderstorms with snowfall
over the hills was expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit Baltistan (GB), Murree, Galliyat and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

It added that the snowfall might disrupt roads in Murree, Galliyat, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum valley, Bagh, Poonch and Haveli during the forecast period.

The tourists were advised to remain cautious during the spell and check weather updates before traveling.

It cautioned that electricity and other utility services may get disrupted. Landslides, mudslides, isolated rain spells and snowfall may lead to potential road blockages in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.

The snowfall and rains would likely to cause significant drop in temperatures.

In Balochistan and Southern Punjab, heavy rainfall may cause flash flooding in local nullahs.

The landslides and mudslides may lead to potential road blockages due to isolated rain spell. Moreover, the farmers are advised to remain extra cautious and plan agricultural activity accordingly during the spell.

All the provincial disaster management authorities (PDMAs), Gilgit Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA), State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration, National Highway Authority (NHA), National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP), Frontier Works Organization (FWO), Rescue 1122,
Dam Authorities, Line Departments, Ministries and Federal Agencies are required to undertake
measures as per respective mandates.

Federal Ombudsman for Insurance organizes national conference

LAHORE, Feb 23 (APP):The Federal Ombudsman for Insurance organized a two-day 4th annual national conference at its regional office, focusing on reviewing the department’s performance over the previous and current years.
The conference also included a briefing on the redressal of public complaints related to insurance companies. The event was attended by all regional heads of the department, advisors, consultants, and CEOs of insurance companies, says a press release issued here on Friday.
Chaired by the Federal Ombudsman for Insurance Dr. Khawar Jameel and hosted by Regional Advisor in-charge Lahore Abdul Basit Khan, the conference emphasized the need to expedite measures for providing quick and efficient justice to complainants regarding insurance companies.
Abdul Basit Khan highlighted that the Federal Ombudsman for Insurance is ensuring relief within 60 days by addressing complaints from the business community and other complainants. Special efforts are being made to raise public awareness in this regard, he added.
Dr. Khawar Jameel and Abdul Basit Khan revealed that 5736 complaints were registered with the Federal Ombudsman for Insurance in the last year, with 5017 complaints being immediately resolved. They also noted that complainants received relief amounting to 2.73 billion rupees during the year.
Abdul Basit Khan pointed out that complaints related to insurance companies have increased due to the public awareness campaigns of the Federal Ombudsman for Insurance. He mentioned that last year, 4740 complaints were registered, while this year the number has risen to 5736, indicating increased public awareness.
Dr. Khawar Jameel and Abdul Basit Khan stressed the gradual creation and enhancement of awareness among insurance policyholders.
Abdul Basit Khan and other Regional Advisor-in-charges of the Federal Ombudsman reiterated their commitment to ensuring the swift delivery of justice to consumers. The conference also discussed the possibility of increasing the number of regional offices from 7 and establishing them in more cities for the benefit of more customers.
Honorary shields were awarded to officers of the Federal Ombudsman for Insurance and representatives of insurance companies.
