CM condoles loss of lives in road accident

LAHORE, Feb 17 (APP):Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed his deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of six members of a family in a traffic accident near Muridke.
In his message, he expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences with the heirs of the deceased. He directed the administration to provide the best treatment facilities to the injured, saying that a legal action should be taken against the driver responsible for the accident.

All resources to be utilized for transparent distribution of Zakat: Haji Ashraf Abbasi

HYDERABAD, Feb 17 (APP):Patron of Bhai Khan Welfare Association, Haji Ashraf Abbasi has said that all available resources would be utilized for fair and transparent distribution of zakat to destitute people.
These remarks were made during a meeting held regarding the Ramzan Relief package on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion Abbasi emphasized that the organization needs to maintain its contact with philanthropists to maximize the number of destitute people who could get the benefit from zakat.  Addressing the meeting, the founder of the association Haji Muhammad Iqbal Qureshi said that effective arrangements should be made to deliver ration and poor people should be facilitated at their doorsteps.
The meeting was attended by the founder, Haji Muhammad Iqbal Qureshi and Haji Muhammad Yasin Arain General Secretary, Senior vice president Aftab Ahmed Khan, Vice President Shahid Rajput, Muhammad Ismail Shaikh, and other office bearers.

CM inspects remodeling of Babu Sabu Toll Plaza

LAHORE, Feb 17 (APP):Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Babu Sabu Toll Plaza and inspected its remodeling project.
The CM directed to make the toll plaza spacious and reviewed progress being made about the ongoing construction activities on both sides, said a handout issued here on Saturday.
He directed to make the toll plaza spacious along with accelerating the pace of work on the remodeling project. He underscored to utilise all possible resources for an early completion of the project, saying that labour force should be increased at night.
Mohsin Naqvi maintained that the long overdue problem of traffic bottlenecks would be resolved on a permanent basis by making the Babu Sabu Toll Plaza spacious along with undertaking its remodelling. Citizens face numerous transportation problems with the traffic getting stuck at the Babu Sabu Toll Plaza. We will make our utmost effort to complete this project at the earliest, he said.
The Commissioner/DG LDA gave a briefing about the progress being made on the project. Provincial Ministers Amir Mir,  Azfar Ali Nasir,  Bilal Afzal,  Chairman P&D Board,  Secretary Housing,  Commissioner Lahore,  CCPO,  Deputy Commissioner,  Chief Engineer LDA and officials concerned were present.

CM visits headquarters of Elite Force, Patrolling Police

LAHORE, Feb 17 (APP):Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid a visit to the Provincial Headquarters of the Elite Police Force Punjab and the Punjab Highway Patrolling Police on Saturday.
The CM inspected the Elite Police Force Officers Block, Punjab Highway Police Patrolling Officers Block and other sections. Mohsin Naqvi visited the Control Room of the Punjab Highway Patrolling Police and monitored the Highway Patrolling System. He met with police officers and directed them to perform their duties with great dedication and in a professional manner.
The CM apprised that a crackdown had been launched against those driving their vehicles and motorcycles without a licence, adding that every possible step was being taken to ensure road safety. The Patrolling Police has to take a lead regarding road safety, he added. Mohsin Naqvi also visited the cafeteria of the Punjab Highway Patrolling Police and lauded its quality.
IG Police Dr. Usman Anwar and Additional IG Punjab Highway Patrolling Police gave a briefing about the Control Room.
The  Secretary Communication & Works,  CCPO, Additional IG Elite Force, Additional IG Punjab Highway Patrolling Police, DIG Elite, DIG Punjab Highway Patrolling Police and officials concerned were also present.

FDA deploys coaches, instructors at sports complex

FAISALABAD, Feb 17 (APP):Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) has deployed coaches, instructors and other staff for in-door games in the sports complex to provide recreational facilities to members here on Saturday.
Director General Muhammad Asif Chaudhry said that the membership process for the sports complex continued. The one-time membership fee for first 100 members will be Rs 200,000 and for the next 500 members Rs 400,000.
He said that people interested in membership would be interviewed before allotting membership.

CEO health inspects THQ Jhumra

FAISALABAD, Feb 17 (APP):Chief Executive Officer (CEO) District Health Authority Dr. Asfandiar visited the THQ Jhumra on Saturday.
He inspected the medical facilities provided to the patients in various departments and expressed satisfaction over  the arrangements.
He also inspected equipment and other arrangements. He was informed that a checkup facility was provided to 15,438 patients in OPD, 3135 emergencies and 213 delivery cases were handled; 176 surgeries and 1036 patients were treated in the in-door of the hospital.
He also talked with attendants of the patients and inquired about the availability of treatment and availability of medicines.

CM pays tribute to Karachi Police Office attack martyrs

KARACHI, Feb 17 (APP):Provincial Caretaker Chief Minister, Justice (Rtd) Maqbool Baqir offered heartfelt tributes on Saturday to the brave souls who lost their lives in the tragic Karachi Police Office attack.
Reflecting on the solemn occasion marking the attack’s first anniversary, the interim CM emphasized the enduring remembrance of our fallen heroes.
He underscored the invaluable significance of these martyrs, noting their unwavering courage in confronting and defeating terrorism.
Justice (Rtd) Maqbool Baqir expressed unwavering confidence in the prowess of law enforcement agencies, affirming their pivotal role in ridding the nation of terrorism and paving the way for its progress and prosperity.
It is noteworthy to mention that on February 17th, 2023, the Karachi Police Office fell victim to a terrorist attack resulting in the martyrdom of 5 personnel, while 18 Rangers and Police personnel, and one Edhi volunteer sustained injuries.
Following the terrorist assault, a joint operation was launched systematically for clearing the police office building, leading to the elimination of 3 terrorists.
Senior police officers valiantly confronted the attack on the frontlines, resulting in the martyrdom of 5 officials, including Rangers Inspector Taimur, Police Head Constable Ghulam Abbas, Head Constable Abdul Latif, Constable Saeed, and Sanitary Worker Ajmal Masih.
A total of 19 personnel were wounded in the terrorist attack, comprising 10 Rangers officers and personnel, 8 police officers and personnel, and 1 Edhi volunteer.

Inter-collegiate boys tug-of-war competitions held

SARGODHA, Feb 17 (APP):Under the auspices of the Board of Education Sargodha, inter-collegiate boys tug-of-war competitions were held at Government Ambala Muslim College here on Saturday.
Teams of government and private boys colleges participated in the competition.
In the tug-of-war competitions, Government Associate College Bhagtanwala defeated all its opponent teams and won first position by winning the tournament, while Superior College Sargodha got  second and Punjab College got  third position.
On this occasion, Superintendent Board of Education Chaudhry Muhammad Anees Sadiq Gujjar said that the Board of Education was providing all possible facilities for the promotion of sports.
He said that a healthy body has  a healthy mind, so it is very important to have sports along with education.
On this occasion, the players thanked the Director Sports Board of Education Sargodha Roshan Zameer, Waqas Butt and the board administration, which provided a good entertainment
opportunity in the form of sports.

MQM-P forms negotiation committee regarding government formation

KARACHI, Feb 17 (APP):The spokesperson of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan Saturday said that the coordination committee of MQM Pakistan has constituted a three-member negotiation committee regarding contact with political parties and government formation.
 Senior Deputy Convenor Syed Mustafa Kamal, Dr. Farooq Sattar, and Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori are included in the negotiation committee.
 The negotiation committee will hold talks with the leaders of various political parties of the country on political relations, government formation, and other issues.

Gang busted: 2 arrested, 5 stolen bikes recovered

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Feb 17 (APP):Dera Police in their on­going operations against car and bike lifter gangs busted a gang and rounded up their 2 members be­sides recovering 5 motorcycles, and Rs 3.7 million cash of stolen vehicles from their possession in the limits of Cantt police station here on Saturday.
According to the police spokesman, on the direction of District Police Officer Dera Abdul Rauf Babar Qaisrani, Police Station Cantt under the leadership of SDPO City Muhammad Adnan along with SHO Gul Sher Khan conducted a successful operation and succeeded in busting a bike lifter gang. The police arrested Akram and Ikram along with recovering 5 stolen motorcycles from their possession
Police also recovered cash amounting to Rs 3.7 million of stolen bikes and cars from the accused.
DSP City Muhammad Adnan told the media persons that while taking action on the rising incidents of motorcycle theft in the city, District Police Officer (DPO) Abdur Rauf Babar Qaisrani directed to launch of a comprehensive crackdown against criminals involved in numerous bike lifting and robbery activities.
He said that a special police team was formed, after which the team traced the accused and arrested 2 criminals who were involved in various incidents of robbery in the city. He said the team was successful in recovering 5 stolen motorcycles and cash from the accused.
