Ban on export of bananas, onions  Ramazan specific

ISLAMABAD, Mar 15 (APP):Federal Minister for Commerce Jamal Kamal Khan informed the National Assembly on Friday that the ban on the export of bananas and onions was specific to Ramadan and temporary.
Responding to a calling attention notice moved by Naveed Qamar and others regarding the ban on the export of agricultural products, he said that the decision was taken at the cabinet level after a summary was submitted by the Ministry of National Food Security.
The minister said that the ban on the export of these products would be in place until the 15th of next month.
However, he assured that the government was aware of the concerns of the agriculturists and indicated that this time frame could be shortened if things progress smoothly.

President visits mausoleum of Bhutto family in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh

LARKANA, Mar 15 (APP): President, Asif Ali Zardari arrived Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on Friday and visited the mausoleum of the martyrs of Bhutto’s family.

He visited the grave of former prime minister and chairperson of PPP Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, laid a floral wreath at the grave and offered “Fateha”.

The president also visited the graves of founder-chairman of PPP Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Madar-e-Jamhooriat late Begum Nusrat Bhutto, late Shireen Amir Begum, late Mir Murtaza Bhutto and late Mir Shahnawaz Bhutto and laid floral wreaths and offered fateha.

He also prayed for the development and prosperity of the country.

On the occasion Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah was accompanied with the president .

Earlier, on his arrival at Sukkur Begum Nusrat Bhutto Airport, the president was received by Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Mayor Sukkur Barrister Arslan Sheikh, DIG Sukkur range, Commissioner Sukkur and other top officers of the Sukkur and Larkana divisions.

Man awarded 10-year jail for selling prohibited drugs

SARGODHA, Mar 15 (APP):Chairman Drug Court Syed Khalid Javed Bukhari decided a drug case on Friday and awarded 10-year jail term to a medical store owner after solid evidence was presented against him about violation of the rules.
According to the prosecution, Drug Inspector Sahiwal Fahim Zia had sent a challan in 2017 against medical store owner, Hamza, a resident of Sahiwal, alleging that he was selling prohibited medicines without having any licence.
The court, after finding him guilty, awarded him jail term and the police arrested him after his conviction.

Submission of papers for Senate election begins

KARACHI, Mar 15 (APP):The process of submission of nomination papers for Senate elections has started from today (March 15) which will continue till March 16.
According to the schedule issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan for the Senate elections, the Provincial Election Commissioner Sindh/Returning Officer for Senate Elections  Sharifullah is receiving nomination papers from candidates.
The list of candidates will be published on March 17, after which the scrutiny of papers will be done on March 19.
The appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers could be filed on March 21 and the tribunal will decide on them on March 25.
The polling will be held in the Sindh Assembly on April 2 from 9 am to 4 pm for the Senate elections.

Robbers gangs busted, stolen motorcycles recovered

MULTAN, Mar 15 (APP):Police claimed to have arrested two gangs involved in motorcycle snatching and recovered Rs 1.5 million stolen motorcycles from their possession.
According to spokesperson for police, SHO Sadar Nazakaat along with his team raided and arrested two members of Adnan alias Dani gang including ring leader Adnan and Bilal.
Likewise, ring leader of Fida Hussain alias Fida gang named Fida Hussain was arrested by the police.
Police have also recovered 14 stolen motorcycles from the arrested suspects.
20 cases were traced from the arrested accused.
Further action was being taken by the police against the accused.

Engro fertilizers engages dealers for urea price enforcement

ISLAMABAD, Mar 15 (APP): In a bid to support the Government’s efforts to ensure urea availability at official prices, Engro Fertilizers has urged its dealers to comply with company guidelines on pricing and strictly ensure product availability to the farmers.

To enforce guidelines of selling Urea at MRP, Engro Fertilizers hosted dealer conferences in Lahore, Multan and Hyderabad, said a news release received here on Friday .

Addressing the event participants, Engro Fertilizers VP Marketing Atif Muhammad Ali commented that “Engro Fertilizers has always adhered to highest standard of integrity and holds the same expectations from its dealers. To support the prosperity of farmers, Engro dealers must ensure urea availability at official prices.

Further, Engro Fertilizers has not increased the selling price of imported urea to facilitate the Government in providing support to farmers.”

At the conference, the dealers were also updated on the recent gas price hike and the disparity of gas prices that exists among different fertilizer players.

All Pakistan Fertilizer Dealer Association Parton in Chief Mr. Ghulam Ahmed on behalf of fertilizer dealers shared “It is in the country’s wider interest that a uniform gas price should be set for all fertilizer manufacturers. This will allow a single urea price to prevail, end market speculations and normalize the urea prices.”

UoM holds seminar on Youm-e-Tahaffuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat

This was stated by Vice Chancellor, UoM, Prof Dr Rashid Ahmad while addressing a seminar on Youm-e-Tahaffuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat (Peace be upon him).
The event was organized by the Directorate of Students Societies in collaboration with the Department of Islamic Studies, University of Malakand (UoM).
The Resource Persons were Dr Janas Khan & Dr Najam ul Hassan, Department of Islamic Studies who shed light on various aspects of the finality of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) and highlighted that it is the responsibility of each and every Muslim to ensure protection of the finality of prophethood law.
Pro-VC Prof Dr Atta ur Rehman also addressed the participants of the seminar.
VC, Dr Rashid Ahmad & Prof Dr Atta ur Rehman pledged that faith in the finality of prophethood was the foundation of the Muslim Ummah and the entire nation was united and committed to the cause of the finality of prophethood law.

First Ramazan Friday prayers held under strict security

SARGODHA, Mar 15 (APP):The district police have made foolproof security arrangements for the first Friday prayers of holy month of Ramazan, and no untoward incident was reported across Sargodha city.
A spokesman said that 3,000 policemen were deployed for providing security to 1,536 mosques in the district.
A comprehensive traffic plan was also in place for smooth traffic flow on all major thoroughfares. The security situation was monitored through closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
District Police Officer Sargodha (DPO) Muhammad Faisal Kamran himself monitored the security situation and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements.

Rockball Championship from March 22

ISLAMABAD, Mar 15 (APP):The Pakistan Rockball Federation (PRF) would hold the 7th Abdul Razzaq Arain Rockball Championship at Mini Sports Complex, Nazimabad, Karachi, from March 22.
According to Secretary General PRF Uma Laila Kulsoom all preparations were ongoing vigorously for the championship. “Teams from all over Sindh are participating in the championship. The managers’ meeting of teams will be held on March 19, in which draw of the championship will be revealed. The rules of the championship will also be informed in the meeting,” she said.
She said the championship would continue till March 23 and prizes will be distributed among winning players at the end of the mega event.

NCA offers number of professional graduate degree courses

ISLAMABAD, Mar 15 (APP):National College of Arts (NCA) offers a number of professional under-graduate and graduate degree courses.
The National College of Arts successfully transitioned from an Annual System to Semester System in 2020 with all Degree Programme courses and structures approved from the Academic Committee of the Board of Governors NCA with promulgation of NCA Act 2021.
NCA Senior faculty member told APP that National College of Arts has achieved another milestone of being a Federal Chartered Institute which has elevated its status as a unique institution in the field of Art and Design, adding that it is indeed a moment of pride for the National College of Arts that it has gained the status of a Chartered Institute.
 “Since then NCA has continued to expand its outreach and infrastructure. We hope that the coming years bring more seminal prospects to take NCA to new heights of success”, he added.
