Road accidents avoidable through abiding safety laws:DEO

SARGODHA, Mar 27 (APP):District Emergency Officer Sargodha (DEO) Mazhar Shah advised the citizens to strictly follow traffic rules as road accidents could be avoided if they properly follow the safety laws.
According to a spokesperson,128 road accidents were reported so far during the current year.
A total of 2389 people including 1100 men and 1517 women were victims of the road accidents,he said and added most of the victims were between the ages of 21and 40 years.
Rescue service maintained its average response time and were trying to reduce road traffic accidents.Awareness and training programs in schools,colleges were ongoing in the district,he added.

Province-wide Ramazan Dastarkhwan supports deserving

PESHAWAR, Mar 27 (APP):On the directives of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, “Ramzan Dastarkhwan” is being held across the province to provide free food to deserving people.
According to official statistics, a total of 71 Ramadan food distribution points were set up throughout the province, and 12,259 individuals broke their fasts at these Ramadan food distribution points on Tuesday.
The highest number of eight food distribution points was set up in Swat, benefiting 3,065 individuals. In Peshawar, four food distribution points were established, benefiting 1,199 individuals. The Ramadan food distribution program will continue until Eid.
Special Assistant to Chief Minister, Mishap Azam Yousafzai, said that the KP government is committed to serving the public and providing them with maximum facilities.
The Ramadan food distribution program is being organized under the supervision of the Department of Social Welfare and Women Development and the District Administration.

KP Food Authority crackdown against adulteration mafia

PESHAWAR, Mar 27 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority Wednesday stepped up its crackdown against the adulteration mafia across the province.
Under the supervision of DG Food Authority Wasif Saeed, district administration and food safety team conducted sudden raids on bakers and juices units in University Town Peshawar, a spokesman of Food Authority said.
The Seven-Eleven fast food unit was sealed due to poor cleanliness, about 500 kg of non-standard ketchup and 50 kg of spoiled meat was also recovered, he informed.
Another operation in Pakha Ghulam Peshawar was a sudden raid on the fake dairy products manufacturing unit inside Keduran house, the spokesperson informed
About 1000 kg of non-standard and damaged by exporting various dairy products which are harmful to health were also recovered from the site, the spokesman said.
The Mardan Food Safety Team also inspected the milk vendors in Gujargarhi, Jhande and Takhtbhai Bazaars, the spokesman said. Checking milk samples by a mobile food testing lab, 500 liters of adulterated and harmful milk were wasted, the spokesman said.
He said, heavy fines imposed on owners for involvement in substandard food items with further action initiated.
DG Food Wasif Saeed instructed zero tolerance against food adulteration. There is no tolerance for adulterated businesses at the cost of public health, he said.
He also requested the citizens to give time information and inform the Food Authority officials against such elements in time so that action would be taken against all such mafia.

Sir Syed Ahmed Khan remembered on his death anniversay

ISLAMABAD, Mar 27 (APP):World-renowned statesman, scholar, philosopher, poet, and educationist Sir Syed Ahmed Khan was remembered on his 126th death anniversary on Wednesday.
He was born in 1817, in Delhi, Sir Syed was regarded as the founder of modern Muslim education in the subcontinent. He devoted his life to the betterment of the Muslim community.
He was the founder of the Aligarh movement which was the base of Pakistan movement.
He established a scientific Society at Ghazipur in 1864, this Society was directed towards getting the translations of Western knowledge texts into Urdu. He also started publishing Tahzib-ul-Akhlaq in 1870 to instill modern consciousness among the Muslims.
This was the main aim and spirit that led him to establish Madrasat-ul-Uloom, then Mohammedan Oriental College at Aligarh, which later grew into Aligarh Muslim University.
He died in 1898 in Aligarh, India.

GIlGIT, Mar 27 (APP):Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Women’s Parliamentary Caucus held a very productive meeting with Speaker Nazir Ahmed Advocate with UN Women Representative.
President Kulsoom Farman and members of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus discussed key agenda items to strengthen pro-women legislation in the GB Assembly.
The caucus has placed some important demands on UN Women, including the need for human resources and professional staff to run the day-to-day office and support for the caucus team to conduct various programs such as capacity building and exhibition tours.
The representative of UN Women has assured all possible support to activate the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly and further improve the legislation in favor of women in the GB Assembly.

Pakistan’s exports to US decrease by 10% in 8 months

ISLAMABAD, Mar 27 (APP):Pakistan’s export of goods and services to the United States (US) witnessed a decrease of 10.38 per cent during the first eight months of the current fiscal year (2023-24) as compared to the exports of the corresponding period of last year, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reported.
The overall exports to US were recorded at US $3,626.141 million during July-February (2023-24) against exports of US $4,046.337 million during July-February (2022-23), SBP data revealed.
On a year-to-year basis, the exports to US came down by 10.97 per cent from $476.804 million in February 2023, against the exports of $424.497 million in February 2024.
Meanwhile, on a month-on-month basis, the exports to US also decreased by 6.89 per cent during February 2024 as compared to the exports of $455.944 million in January 2024, the SBP data revealed.
Overall Pakistan’s exports to other countries witnessed an increase of 10.15 per cent in the first five months, from US $18.643 billion to US $20.537 billion, the SBP data revealed.
On the other hand, the imports from US into the country during the months under review were recorded at US $1,191.518 million against US $1,437.237 million last year, showing a decline of 17.09 per cent in July-February (2023-24).
On a year-on-year basis, the imports for US witnessed a decrease of 10.70 per cent from US $175.873 million in February 2023, against the imports of US $157.042 million in February 2024.
On a month-on-month basis, the imports from US into the country witnessed an increase of 12.34 per cent during February 2024, as compared to the imports of US $139.783 million during January 2024, according to the data.
The overall imports into the country witnessed a decrease of 8.76 per cent, from $37.354 billion to US $34.079 billion, according to the data.

FIA Kohat launches operation, three alleged accused arrested

PESHAWAR, Mar 27 (APP):As many as seven cases have been registered against the elements involved in electricity theft with three accused have been arrested on the spot, FIA Kohat Zone spokesman said here Wednesday.
The raids were conducted by Composite Circle Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan jointly, FIA spokesman said.
Among the arrested accused are Baitullah, Muhammad Rizwan and Sultan Shamil, the official of FIA said.
The accused were stealing electricity by hooking the main power line at their shops and hostels and during raids, the PESCO officials disconnected the illegal connections on the spot by arresting three accused involved in stealing the electricity, FIA spokeman said. Cable and other equipment used for illegal electricity supply were also seized.
The national exchequer was losing millions of rupees due to electricity theft, FIA spokesman said, adding the accused was arrested and the investigation started.

It has developed an advanced low-energy consumption system using an alkaline hydrogen production system as a key point.
“The alkaline electrolysis water hydrogen production system is a device that generates hydrogen and oxygen through electrolysis of water, which is suitable for large-scale wind and solar hydrogen production scenarios, providing reliable technical support for large-scale green hydrogen production.” The staff member introduced, “Not only that, regarding the processing of decommissioned wind turbines, our R&D team has also designed an efficient and intelligent system for decommissioned turbine blades, namely, a closed-loop full industry chain of processing and recycling.”
“Our Hydrofore megawatt PEM electrolytic bath has completely independent intellectual property rights, which has been selected as the National Energy Administration’s top ten sci-tech innovations in the energy industry in 2023. Currently, the rated hydrogen production of the bath could reach 250Nm3/h”.
A staff member from SPIC Hydrogen Energy Tech Co., Ltd., another leader in the hydrogen energy industry, emphasized, “More than that, our hydrogen refueling station has been put into use in the China-South Korea Changchun Cooperation Demonstration Zone to ensure the daily operation of local hydrogen buses. In addition to buses, cargo vans, sanitation and refrigerated trucks are also included in our hydrogen transportation range.”
In addition to hydrogen production products, the Hydrofore fuel cell products exhibited by SPIC Hydrogen Energy Tech are suitable for urban passenger transportation, heavy-haul freight, mining machinery, inland shipping, aircraft, backup power, cogeneration and so on. ”
In December last year, our first batch of Hydrofore fuel cell heavy-duty trucks were delivered to Jinan, Shandong Province, including hydrogen-powered sludge and sanitation trucks, all of which have a full-load cruising range of more than 400 kilometers after a single hydrogenation, and no harmful substances are emitted during driving. If each truck runs 50,000 kilometers per year, a hydrogen sludge truck and a h sanitation truck can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 46 tons and 32 tons per year, respectively.

Sharjeel Memon visits Excise &Taxation office at Civic Centre

KARACHI, Mar 27 (APP):Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation, Narcotics Control, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, paid a surprise visit to the Excise and Taxation Office here at Civic Center.
During the visit, Sharjeel Inam Memon reviewed the work of various sections in the Excise and Taxation office and also obtained detailed information on vehicle registration and other related issues.
The Provincial Minister received a comprehensive briefing about the operational mechanism of registration and taxation. Sharjeel Memon emphasized the need for collective efforts to promote transparency and accountability in administrative affairs. He stated that the Sindh government has a proactive approach to address administrative challenges and improve public service delivery.
He further added that the Sindh government aims to implement necessary reforms for better service to all citizens.  Secretary Excise and Taxation, Atifur Rehman, and Director General Excise and Taxation, Aurangzeb Panhwar, also accompanied Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon during the visit.
