President lauds valour of security forces to foil Turbat terror attack

ISLAMABAD, Mar 26 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday lauded the security forces for their successful operation to foil a terrorist attack at the Naval Base in Turbat.

The president, in a statement, said that timely and effective action by the security forces to thwart the attack was appreciable.

He also lauded the valour of the soldiers who carried out the clearance operation and eliminated the terrorists.

President Zardari paid tribute to Sepoy Noman Fareed who embraced martyrdom during the operation.

Reiterating the government’s resolve for the complete eradication of terrorism in the country, he prayed to Allah Almighty for the elevation of the martyr’s ranks in paradise and patience to the bereaved family to bear the loss.

Saylani Welfare Trust to hold `Grand Dastarkhawan’ for iftari of 3000 deserving faithful

PESHAWAR, Mar 26 (APP):Saylani Welfare Trust, a humanitarian organization serving the poor and distressed people in the country, has planned to organize a `Grand Dastarkhawan’ in Peshawar on Tuesday to arrange iftari of around 3000 deserving faithful.
“The grand dastarkhawan will be held on University Town road over an area of around one kilometer for accommodating around 3000 or more deserving faithful,” shared Aqleem Orakzai, representative of Saylani Welfare Trust in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The idea behind holding of grand Dastarkhawan is to provide a fast-breaking facility to a large number of people dwelling in the city, Aqleem told APP.
The organization is already arranging dastarkhawans in four different places in Peshawar in front of the DC Office, Haji Camp, Saddar, and University Road.
Saylani is also distributing food packages among poor families besides providing essential items like drinks and dates for breaking fast to drivers of cabs, tri-wheelers, buses, and wagons.
The Karachi-based trust started operations in Peshawar in 2018 by providing free lunch and dinner facilities daily to poor people in Saddar and Haji Camp areas.
Apart from the distribution of free food among poor strata, Saylani Welfare Trust has also joined hands with Aziz Jan Trust of Peshawar to equip youth with modern Information Technology (IT) skills to enable them to grow and stand on their feet.
`Mohsin and Huma Mass IT Training Institute (MHIT) Peshawar’, a joint venture of Saylani and Aziz Jan Trust is providing training to youth free of cost with the vision of equipping a new generation with current IT knowledge leading to generating self-employment through freelancing, Aqleem explained.
Students are offered IT courses in different disciplines including graphic designing, video animation, IT essentials, Web & Mob App, Python, AI Chatbot, Techno Kids, CCNA, Cyber Security, Flutter, IT to graphic designing, and IT to Web & Mob App.
A total of 1273 students have availed of the opportunity to learn different courses within six months of MHIT center.
It merits some insertions here that the foundation Chairman of Saylani, Maulana Bashir Farooqi had set the vision of equipping 100,000 youth with IT development courses in Pakistan.
While CEO of Saylani Welfare Trust, Muhammad Ghazzal has set a line of extending help to around 400,000 persons in the country daily.

ISLAMABAD, Mar 26 (APP):Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, held a constructive meeting with the delegation of AdVentures.
The delegation, led by the head of the company, Parvez Abbasi, briefed the Minister of State regarding the preparations for World Telecom Day.
During the meeting, Minister of State Shaza Fatima said that Pakistan possesses abundant talent, yet there exists a crucial need to elevate Pakistan’s branding at the global level, according to a news release. She reiterated that the government is extending all possible support to the private sector in this endeavor.

GB Freelancers Association concluded four day “GBFA Freelancing Bootcamp Baltistan”

GIlGIT, Mar 26 (APP):GB Freelancers Association concluded the four day “GBFA Freelancing Bootcamp Baltistan” with great success at the Government Girls Inter College Khaplu, in district Ghanche of Baltistan region on Friday.
The event was a joint effort between GBFA, and The Aga Khan Rural Support Programme – AKRSP Pakistan, and technical support was provided by the Special Communication Organization and NEEDS Online.
Total 840 youth, professionals, college and university students participated the four days camps held in district Skardu, Shigar, Kharmang and Ghanche.
The closing day witnessed active participation from more than 200 youths and college students. Top Rated freelancers and mentors from GBFA imparted essential skills to the participants, covering topics such as freelancing fundamentals, niche analysis, profile creation and optimization, client communication, and safeguarding against online scams.
While speaking to the camp, GBFA President Mr. Ghulam Rehman extended gratitude to AKRSP for their support in youth development initiatives and skill development projects in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral. He also expressed appreciation to the SCO for supporting freelancers in GB and acknowledged the continued technical support from NeedsOnline to GBFA.
Dr. Sna Ullah, Area Manager AKRSP, commended GBFA’s efforts in empowering the youth across Gilgit-Baltistan and highlighted AKRSP’s initiatives to youth empowerment and entrepreneurship in district Ghanche.

Master Inayat Hussain was remembered on 31st death anniversary

ISLAMABAD, Mar 26 (APP):Renowned composer Master Inayat Hussain was remembered on his 31st death anniversary where social media users paid him rich tributes for his unforgettable services in entertainment industry.
Inayat was born in Lahore’s Bhati Gate area in 1916. His musical journey began under the tutelage of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan of the Patiala gharana, where he mastered traditional classical music and learned to play various instruments, including the harmonium,a private news channel reported.
In the early stages of his career, Hussain showcased his talents in theatrical organizations across British India, earning recognition as both a singer and actor. His musical prowess led him to serve as a Court Singer to the Nawab of Rampur briefly.
Hussain’s career soared when he joined Columbia Gramophone Recording Company and His Master’s Voice music labels as a music composer, collaborating with acclaimed singers like Roshan Ara Begum and Malika Pukhraj.
His legacy includes composing music for approximately 65 films, beginning with “Kamli” in 1946, prior to Pakistan’s independence. Notably, his breakthrough came with the super-hit song “Payal Mein Geet Hain Chhumm Chhumm Ke” from the film “Gumnaam” in 1954.
Inayat Hussain’s innovative compositions earned him accolades, including praise from renowned classical musician Amir Khan for his work on “Ulfat Ki Nai Manzil Ko Chala” in 1955.
Hussain remained a pioneering force in Pakistani film music, leaving behind a rich musical legacy that continues to resonate with audiences to this day.

WWF-Pakistan highlights vital role of groundwater recharge wells

ISLAMABAD, Mar 26 (APP):WWF-Pakistan arranged a field visit to the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, where two groundwater recharge wells have been constructed as part of the Ravi River Restoration Project.
The event brought together industry experts, academia, and members from the Ministry of Water Resources to witness the ongoing efforts towards ensuring the responsible and efficient use of water resources in the region, according to a news release.
The Ravi River Restoration Project, funded by the Coca-Cola Foundation in partnership with WWF-Pakistan, is replenishing water through a combination of interventions.
These include rainwater harvesting systems, recharge wells, floating treatment wetlands, ablution water reuse systems, water-efficient fixtures, and on-farm water management practices.

SARGODHA, Mar 26 (APP):District Police claimed to have arrested three gamblers and a kite seller and recovered bet money, kites and string rolls from them,here on Tuesday.
According to a police spokesperson,urban area police team raided at various localities under it’s jurisdiction and nabbed three gamblers and a kite seller besides recovering more than Rs 10,000 bet cash,10 kites and three string rolls.
Police registered separate cases against the accused and started investigation.

IFA signs MoU with NIH to bolster food testing capabilities

ISLAMABAD, Mar 26 (APP): Deputy Director Operations (DDO) of Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) Dr Tahira Saddique on Tuesday said that the IFA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Health (NIH) towards ensuring the safety of consumables in the Federal Capital.

This collaboration aims to enhance food testing capabilities and strengthen efforts to combat the proliferation of harmful health products in the city.

Talking to APP, she said that the MoU was signed between Dr. Tanveer, Chief Nutrition Wing of NIH, and Irfan Nawaz Memon, Director of IFA.

This collaboration was expected to streamline food testing procedures, ensuring rigorous examination of food samples to identify any potential risks to public health.

She revealed that the partnership entails a series of initiatives aimed at bolstering food safety measures across Islamabad.

With access to the advanced facilities at the NIH laboratory, IFA would conduct thorough inspections of various eateries to eliminate substandard food items from circulation. Additionally, training sessions conducted by NIH experts would equip IFA personnel with the necessary skills to enforce food safety protocols effectively.

Dr. Tahira highlighted the absence of a dedicated testing laboratory within IFA before this collaboration, emphasizing the significance of leveraging NIH’s resources to expedite the sampling and testing process.

The proximity of the NIH lab would enable swift transportation of perishable food items for timely analysis, thereby enhancing the efficiency of IFA’s regulatory actions against adulterated food outlets.

The partnership between IFA and NIH signified a concerted effort to address the challenges posed by unsafe food products in the city. By pooling their resources and expertise, both organizations were poised to elevate their capabilities in safeguarding the well-being of citizens.

In conclusion, the alliance between IFA and NIH underscored a shared commitment to upholding food safety standards and protecting consumers from the risks associated with substandard food items, she added.

UET Peshawar launches student services center to enhance support facilities
