Balochistan govt signs MoU with Google for 2000 youth’s scholarship

QUETTA, Jul 19 (APP): The Government of Balochistan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google under which students of the province will get 2000 additional scholarships and internship opportunities.

The aim of this initiative was to enable the youth to get online jobs by aligning them with the requirements of the modern age. Google will also provide support in the digitalization of the provincial information department.

Balochistan Finance Minister Zamrik Khan Achakzai, Chief Secretary Abdul Aziz Aqaili Secretary Information Technology Tayyab Lahri, Information Secretary Muhammad Hamza Shafaqat and Google Team Leader Umar Farooq attended the ceremony.

Talking to media, Chief Secretary Balochistan said the agreement between the provincial government and Google was an important development. Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo was deeply interested in providing dignified employment to the youth, he added.

The CS noted that Google had given 1000 scholarships to the youth of Balochistan, and more than 900 youth had enrolled in this program.

Meanwhile, Secretary Muhammad Hamza Shafaqat told media that Google has given another 2000 scholarships, among them 1000 scholarships are for girls and 1,000 for boys.

He said the young people with internships will have international certification that will enable them to get online jobs and the interns will be able to earn up to 1,000 dollars per month.

Earlier, in May last Google had provided 1000 scholarships to the youth of the province.

Paigham-e-Pakistan Peace conference calls for unity to defeat evil agenda of anti-peace elements

QUETTA, Jul 19 (APP): The speakers of the National Paigham-e- Pakistan Peace Conference on Wednesday said that national unity is indispensable to defeating the evil agenda of the enemies of Pakistan.

All political and religious forces and people belonging to all sections of the society shall make every effort to unite the Ummah for durable peace by making practical examples through their deeds.

They expressed these views while addressing a conference organized by Majlis Ulema Pakistan Balochistan at Press Club Quetta.

Chairman Central Royat Hilal Committee Pakistan and Chairman Majlis Ulema Pakistan Peace Ambassador Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad was the chief guest while eminent scholars of all schools of thought and noble elders, well-known social figures, businessmen and journalists addressed the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad said that Pakistan is united and will always be united. We will not allow the evil agenda of the enemy powers to succeed.

“We can defeat the enemy only by becoming a united nation. The enemy powers want to weaken us by fighting and creating chaos. What we have to do is that we will not let it succeed,”

Stressing the need for following the message of Islam in its true essence, he said “We should keep the message of Islam, brotherhood, love, tolerance and unity in front.

Today Pakistan needs more unity and stability and inter-religious harmony. The enemy has to be defeated through internal stability.

The establishment of peace, unity, religious harmony, respect for humanity and the promotion of the “Pakistan Message” is the most important need of the hour during the month of Muharram.

“It is the common responsibility of all of us to publicize the code of conduct that has been prepared in the light of Pakistan, and for the promotion of the message of Pakistan, the scholars should create awareness through their sermons.

Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad said that Pakistan’s forces and security agencies strengthened the country’s defence by making unprecedented sacrifices. The prayers of the entire nation are with our brave armed forces, we pay our
respects to the martyrs of Pakistan forces in Zhob.

Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad said that Israel’s interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs is an absolute violation. “Today’s forum strongly condemns the Israeli resolution and the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden,” he
added.

Those who spoke on the occasion included Pir Khalid Sultan, Sahibzada Sultan Muhammad Hayat, Maulana Dr. Raghib Hussain Naimi, Maulana Anwar-ul-Haqqani, Dr Atta-ul-Rehman, Qari Abdul Rasheed Hazarvi, Allama Syed Nasrullah Al-Husseini, Maulana Mufti Jan Muhammad Qadri, Maulana Syed Naqibullah Agha, Qari Abdul Hafeez, Maulana Syed Atiqur Rahman. ECNEC approves Khawazakhela-Besham Expressway costing Rs 79.131 bln

ISLAMABAD, Jul 19 (APP): The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Wednesday approved the project for the construction of Khawazakhela-Besham Expressway (48Km) at cost of around Rs 79. 131 billion.

ECNEC, which met with Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar in the chair, considered and accorded approval to the summary of Ministry of Communications in that regard, said a Finance Ministry news release.

The 48-kilometer Khawazakhela-Besham Expressway project, which would cost about Rs 79,130.878 million without FEC and financed entirely through the Federal Public Sector Development Programme, would be executed by the National Highway Authority in Shangla and Swat districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Federal Minister for Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar, Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, PM’s special assistants Tariq Bajwa and Tariq Mehmood Pasha, federal secretaries and other senior officers from federal ministries and provincial departments attended the meeting.

The ECNEC also approved the project “Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme” of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives to be executed by Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Islamabad at a rationalized cost of Rs16,801.230 million, including FEC of Rs 15,166.250 million. The project would be financed by the Federal Government and completed within two years i.e. 2023-2025.

The committee accorded its consent for the project “Modernization of Hydromet Services of PMD in Pakistan (MHSP)” of the Aviation Division at a cost of Rs 14,498.875 million to be executed in the whole country by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). It would be financed by the World Bank as a component of “Post-flood 2022 Reconstruction Programme”.

The “Water Requirement for K-IV Project Improvement of Kalri Baghar Feeder & Keenjhar Lake – Plain Cement Concrete (PCC) Lining of Karli Baghar Feeder Upper-Phase-I Project ” of the Ministry of Water Resources was also approved. It would be executed by by the Sindh Irrigation Department in Jamshoro and Thatta districts with an estimated cost of Rs 39,942.559 million, to be financed at a 50:50 sharing basis by the Federal Government and the Sindh Government.

ECNEC accorded its approval for the project “Lahore Ring Road-Southern Loop (SL-3) Construction of Road from Raiwind Road upto Multan Road” of the Government of Punjab at the total cost of Rs 17,785.850 million without FEC. It would be executed by the provincial C&W Department and entirely financed by the Government of Punjab Annual Development Programme.

The committee also approved a summary of the Ministry of National Food Security & Research regarding the project “Prime Minister’s National Programme for Solarization Agriculture Tube Wells Punjab, Sindh, KPK, and Balochistan” and allowed inclusion of existing pumping systems on small dams, ponds, and river/stream/nullah ponds, serving the same purpose as tube-wells.

Another project of Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, titled “Pakistan Education Fund”, was approved in principle at a cost of Rs 14,000 million to be executed all over Pakistan by the Higher Education Commission, NEST, and M/o FE&PT. The project would be financed by Federal PSDP 2023-24, to provide scholarships.

The committee also approved another project of Ministry of Communications titled “Lahore-Sahiwal-Bahwalnagar Motorway (295 Kms) Phase –I” at a cost of Rs 263,795.863 million, to be executed in Bahawalpur, Kasur, Lahore, Okara, Pakpattan and Sahiwal districts of Punjab. The project would be be financed by the Federal PSDP.
