PPP to support govt for economic stability, prosperity: President Zardari
LARKANA, Apr 14 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will continue to support the government for economic stability and prosperity in the country.
He was addressing the public gathering on 45th death anniversary of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto in Larkana here on Sunday.
President Asif Ali Zardari said national interest was the top priority of Pakistan Peoples Party and it will remain in touch with all political parties for the betterment of the country. He said Pakistan was blessed with vast potential of minerals and natural resources and it would emerge from current economic crisis through exploitation of these resources.
Paying tribute to Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, he said Bhutto family always sacrificed their lives for the country and people. He said that party’s leadership and workers accepted martyrdom for the sake of country.
“I faced jails with support of party workers,” he said adding the country was facing challenges due to wrong decisions of some people.” ” We will strengthen the country’s economy.” President Zardari thanked people for reposing their confidence in Pakistan Peoples Party in general elections.
Threats of lightning: PDMA issues guidelines
QUETTA, Apr 14 (APP):In view of casualties caused by rains and lightning, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority has issued guidelines for public.
As many as eight people have so far died due to the lightening in parts of the Balochistan as heavy rains has started lashing almost all districts of the province since third day of Eid.
PDMA in a statement issued here on Sunday said, lightning usually strikes open and elevated places urging people to take precautionary measures.
“People must avoid taking shelter under trees during thunderstorms and do not keep shiny objects under open sky.
One must keep its self away from the iron objects including vehicles, poles, besides avoiding from plains, beaches and other open areas, PDMA said.
PDMA stressed that use of mobile phone game, landline phone, computer laptop in open be also avoided. “Do not travel on motorcycle, cycle, etc. During thunderstorms, PDMA further added.

Hyderabad receives light showers
HYDERABAD, Apr 14 (APP):Light to moderate rainfall continued in Hyderabad on Sunday after the ongoing spell of the downpour started late on Saturday night.
The rain, accompanied by strong winds, brought down the soaring mercury and turned the weather pleasant, but widespread power outages also ensued.
Complaints of prolonged outages were reported from various parts of the city. Three towers of 11,000 KV fell in Jamshoro district early in the morning due to gusty winds, leading to suspension of the electric supply in several areas in Kotri town.
The Mayor of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC) cancelled his visit to Larkana to attend a public meeting of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) owing to the rain.
The Mayor, Commissioner Ahsan Qureshi, Deputy Commissioner Tariqu Qureshi and Managing Director of Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Zeeshan Malik supervised the exercises of pumping out rainwater and of cleaning roads.
