4 die, 20 injured in accident on Motorway

HYDERABAD, Apr 14 (APP):Four persons lost their lives and at least 20 sustained injuries in an accident between a passenger coach and coaster on M9 Motorway near Nooriabad, Jamshoro district, on Sunday.
According to the police, the coaster was carrying a wedding party from Karachi to Nawan Jatoi village in Kambar-Shahdadkot district.
The deceased have been identified as Ali Jan Magsi, Ghulam Shabbir Chandio, 8 years old Sadia Magsi and an unknown woman.
The bodies were shifted to Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) in Jamshoro while the injured were referred to LUH Hyderabad. Some patients were also later referred to Civil Hospital Karachi.

LARKANA, Apr 14 (APP): President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari hoisted Pakistan national flag at the official flag hoisting at Neodero house and officially declared it as president camp house on Sunday.
He reached at Neodero house from Sukkur Airport. On this flag hoisting ceremony, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Ladies wing’s President Faryal Talpur were also present.
Later on, he met Adil Nazir head of delegation of National Engineering services Pakistan limited with his team members.

“Sweet Fest on Sweet Eid”  delights Pakistan’s expats in Sharjah

ISLAMABAD, Apr 14 (APP):In a delightful celebration of Eid, the Pakistan Social Center in Sharjah hosted the “Sweet Fest on Sweet Eid” event, captivating the local community with a showcase of culinary talent and cultural festivities.
The highlight of the event was the sweet dish competition, which saw participants from diverse backgrounds vying for top honors. After careful evaluation by esteemed judges Dr. Noor and Pakistan Social Center President Khalid Hussain Chaudhry, three exceptional women emerged victorious in three distinct categories.
Tania Fakhr’s rendition of Sheer Khurma, Asma Fatima’s traditional halwa, and Huda Yameen’s international favorite, Trifle, earned them well-deserved recognition and admiration. The competition, featuring over 15 participants, offered a rich tapestry of flavors and culinary techniques. Judges meticulously scrutinized each dish, evaluating taste, presentation, and creativity. Shabnam Qamar’s halwa also garnered special commendation for its traditional appeal.
The winners were awarded a cash prize of five hundred dirhams each, adding to the jubilant atmosphere of the occasion. Expressing their joy and gratitude, the winners shared their experiences, highlighting the efforts and dedication invested in crafting their winning dishes. Tania Fakhr expressed delight at the opportunity to participate in the Eid festivities, while Asma Fatima and Huda Yameen expressed pride in their culinary achievements.
President Khalid Hussain Chaudhry, accompanied by special guest Salahuddin Tareen, distributed certificates to the winners, underscoring the importance of community engagement and celebration during Eid.
Reflecting on the success of the event, Khalid Hussain Chaudhry emphasized the role of the Pakistan Social Center in fostering a sense of unity and belonging among overseas Pakistanis. Dr. Noor Al Saba, a distinguished Pakistani entrepreneur and judge of the competition, commended the event for its cultural significance and congratulated the winners.
The “Sweet Fest on Sweet Eid” event not only celebrated the rich culinary heritage of Pakistan but also served as a vibrant cultural showcase, bringing together residents of Sharjah in a spirit of joy and camaraderie.

High-level delegation visits religious celebrations of Sikh community at Punja Sahib

ATTOCK, Apr 14 (APP): A high level delegation comprising senior officers, headed by Khurshid Ahmad Nadeem , Chairman National Rahmatul lil Aalameen WA Khatamun Nabiyyin Authority (NRKNA), with the President, Director of Sir Syed Education Foundation, Pakistan,Mr.Tahir Durrani,Qazi Zahoor ul Haq, and Mr. Zulfiqar Hayat Khan, visited the religious celebrations of the Sikh community at Punja Sahib, Hassanabdal, on the Besakhi Festival.

The delegation attended the main event of the festival. At the end of the event, the Chairman National Rahmatul lil Aalameen WA Khatamun Nabiyyin Authority NRKNA, along with his delegation, distributed gifts among the leading personalities of the Sikh community.

Earlier, the Punjab Minority Minister, Sardar Ramesh Singh Aurora, welcomed the delegation and appreciated the participation of the delegation from such a very important organization of international repute. The Chairman of the of the NRKNA, while expressing his views, stated that the participation of the delegation is a message from the Pakistani society that we have respect, and regard for all segments of the society, irrespective of their belongings, and have tolerance for each other.
This is also a source that says everyone has the freedom of worship according to their faith. The arrangements and cooperation of the local administration were also appreciated by the head of delegation.

The participation of the delegation from the National Rahmatul lil Aalameen WA Khatamun Nabiyyin Authority has been viewed as a very good will gesture by the Sikh community as well as by the Muslim community at large.

This step of participation has been encouraging for the Sikh community participating in festivals, as expressed by them, and an important source to highlight the goodwill of Pakistan at large across the world.

This is a step towards firm and effective interfaith harmony that needs to be taken with zealous mission in all such kinds of events of minorities, so that, tolerance and respect for each other be imperative and integrated for the effectiveness and well-determined role of the society of Pakistan to be played and acknowledged by the international community at large.

Ahsan Iqbal to receive APO Meritorious & Distinguished Award-2024 next month

ISLAMABAD, Apr 14 (APP):Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal would formally receive the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Meritorious and Distinguished Award-2024 during its Governing Body’s 66th session to be held in Kuala Lumpur next month for his inspiring, exemplary achievements and contributions leading to centrality of productivity.
“The APO has revealed the winners of the APO, Regional Meritorious and Distinguished Awards, 2024 and Planning Minister Professor Ahsan Iqbal is one of the recipients in Asia Pacific who is the winner among the others,” a news release by the Planning Ministry said on Sunday.
These prestigious awards honor individuals who have made significant contributions to productivity improvement across the Asia Pacific. This was the fourth time that Professor Ahsan Iqbal has assumed the charge of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives. First time he became the planning minister in 1997 and continued this responsibility till 1999 then served from (2013-2017), and again from (2022-2023). Besides, he served as a Deputy Chairman Planning Commission of Pakistan.
Previously, Ahsan Iqbal was also appointed as the United Nations Development Programme’s “Champion Minister” for the Asia Pacific region, for his tireless efforts in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In Addition, Ahsan Iqbal was hailed as the “Hero of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor” (CPEC) by the Chinese Government, a  testament to his pivotal role in fostering bilateral relations and economic prosperity. He was also give the title of “Mr. CPEC” by China.
Under his dynamic leadership, several initiatives were taken which includes vision 2010, vision 2025, Outlook 2035, 5Es framework, 4RF framework for flood, China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), five New Economic Corridor and their alignment with 5Es framework, National Centers for Excellence, Main Line-1 (ML-1) railway project, Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) KCR and others.
Furthermore, other remarkable achievements, includes, initiating the PQI (Productivity, Quality, and Innovation) initiative, driving excellence in Pakistan’s industries, increasing the development budget for higher education by an impressive 68 percent, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the future of our youth. The APO awards have celebrated the achievements of productivity champions who have significantly contributed to productivity improvement across the Asia Pacific.
In commemoration of the APO’s 60th anniversary in 2021, several enhancements have been made to the award schemes to reflect the evolving landscape of productivity and innovation.
The presentation of the awards would be conducted at the conferral ceremony during the 66th Session of the APO Governing Body in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, May 28–30, 2024 as well as the designated occasions by the APO Directors of respective countries of awardees based on the APO Regional Meritorious and Distinguished, and National Awards.
The APO is dedicated to leveraging the knowledge and experience of these awardees to inspire and steer future productivity initiatives, thereby foster learning, innovation, and collaboration among APO members.
The APO is a regional intergovernmental organization dedicated to improving productivity in the Asia-Pacific region through mutual cooperation. It is a nonpolitical, nonprofit, and nondiscriminatory organization.
Established in 1961 with eight founding members, the APO currently comprises 21 member economies including Bangladesh; Cambodia; the ROC; Fiji; Hong Kong; India; Indonesia; Iran; Japan; Republic of Korea (ROK); Lao PDR; Malaysia; Mongolia; Nepal; Pakistan; Philippines; Singapore; Sri Lanka; Thailand; Turkiye and Vietnam.
The other awardees are Dr Pao-Cheng Chang, President of the China Productivity Center, Anilkumar Manibhai Naik, Chairman Emeritus of Larsen & Toubro Limited; Dr Bountheung Douangsavanh, Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Lao PDR; Datuk Wira (Dr) Haji Ameer Ali Mydin, Managing Director of Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad; Yamaaranz Erkhembayar, Chairman and CEO of the Mongolian Productivity Organization; and Dr Ha Minh Hiep, Acting Director General of the Directorate for Standards, Metrology, and Quality in Vietnam.
The APO is shaping the future of the region by fostering the socioeconomic development of its members through national policy advisory services, acting as a think tank, institutional capacity-building initiatives, and knowledge sharing to increase productivity.

CM Balochistan reviews law & order

QUETTA, Apr 14 (APP):A high level meeting on law and order was held at CM Secretariat under the chairmanship of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti.
IG Police Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, ACS Jome Zahid Saleem and other senior civil and military officers participated in the meeting. The law and order situation in the aftermath of Noshki terrorism was reviewed in the meeting.
Commissioner and DIG Rukhshan Division gave a briefing in the meeting regarding the Noshki tragedy wherein the meeting strongly condemned the incident.
Moreover, It was decided to revise the security plan to prevent such incidents in future
“War against terrorism is not only for security forces, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said adding that this war is against the enemies of peace and is the war of the state.
Stressing the need for joint efforts, he said civil armed forces, bureaucracy, judiciary, media all have to fight this war. Government will fight this war of the state against terrorism with political responsibility and a concerted plan of action, he maintained.
Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, on the occasion directed to ensure payment of compensation to the families of the martyrs of Noushki tragedy within 7 days.
