CM message on Punjab Tax Day

LAHORE, Apr 09 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the purpose of celebrating Tax Day is to create awareness among people regarding tax payment.
In her message on Punjab Tax Day, the CM said tax is a public trust and paying taxes is the responsibility of every citizen while spending transparently is the duty of government.
The CM explained that the resources obtained from taxes are spent on providing education, health and other basic facilities to people, adding that all resources of the government are transparently being spent on the welfare of people. More work is needed at all levels to promote tax culture in Punjab, she expressed.

CM message on Pakistan’s Constitution Day

LAHORE, Apr 09 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that the Constitution Day is the day to renew pledge that supremacy of Constitution will always be maintained.
In her message on Pakistan’s Constitution Day, April 10, she said the purpose of celebrating Constitution Day is to pay homage to the founders of the Constitution. The unanimous constitution of 1973 is a very important and historic event in the parliamentary history of Pakistan, she said. Half a century ago, the democratic leadership elected by the people gave nation a unified constitution, she added.
The CM said the Constitution of Pakistan is a guarantee of democracy, equality, tolerance and personal freedom.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the Constitution of 1973 brought federal and provincial autonomy to new dimensions. It provides protection of mutual respect and freedom, social justice and equality of followers of different religions, she added.
The Punjab government reaffirms its commitment to protect and serve rights of people in keeping with the constitution of Pakistan, she concluded.

AJK PM extends heartfelt Eid-ul-Fitr greetings and expresses solidarity with Kashmir

MIRPUR, Apr 09 (APP):Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has conveyed warm greetings to Muslims on the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, emphasizing the festival’s essence of love, sacrifice, compassion, and brotherhood.
 In his released message, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of sharing blessings and fostering community ties, urging the inclusion of the less fortunate in the celebration.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister’s message extended sincere prayers for the freedom of Indian Occupied Kashmir, as well as for the development and prosperity of the beloved country.
Expressing deep empathy for the suffering of the people in the Indian occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Prime Minister reaffirmed unwavering solidarity with the affected individuals in their enduring struggle.
Prime Minister expressed hope for a future where occupied Kashmir will be liberated from Indian oppression, underscoring the continued support for the cause.

Shawwal moon sighted, Eid on Wednesday

ISLAMABAD, Apr 9 (APP):The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman, Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad on Tuesday announced that the moon of Shawwal-ul-Mukarram has been sighted at various places of the country therefore, Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated with traditional fervor across the nation on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference along with his respective colleagues of both Central and Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees, he informed that they have received a number of testimonies of moon sighting for Shawwal-ul-Mukarram from various areas of the country.
After evaluating all testimonies in the parameters of Shariah regarding the Shawwal-ul-Mukarram’s moon sighting, Maulana Azad said the committee has reached a unanimous conclusion that the first Shawwal-ul-Mukarram, 1445 AH would fall on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
Concluding his remarks, he fervently prayed for the peace, progress, and prosperity of the nation. Additionally, he beseeched for divine intervention for the innocent people of Palestine and the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, who have been rendering numerous sacrifices in pursuit of their just resolutions.
A pivotal meeting of the national moon sighting body was held to determine the sighting of Shawwal-ul-Mukarram moon at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony. Headed by Maulana Azad, the meeting witnessed the participation of esteemed members from various institutions, including the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Pakistan Meteorological Department, and the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO).
Among the notable attendees were Religious Affairs Ministry Director General Syed Mushahid Hussain Khalid, along with prominent figures such as Allama Muhammad Dr. Hussain Akbar, Mufti Fazl Jamil Rizvi, and Maulana Muhammad Yasin Zafar, among others.
Zonal members from Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar also contributed to the deliberations.

President Zardari felicitates nation, Muslim Ummah on Eid-ul-Fitr

ISLAMABAD, Apr 10 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari felicitated the Pakistani nation and the Muslim Ummah on the auspicious occasion of Eidul Fitr and urged them to show compassion and generosity and share their happiness with the poor and needy.

In a message, he said, “On this auspicious occasion of Eidul Fitr I felicitate and express my sincere wishes to the Pakistani nation and Muslim Ummah.”
“I pray to Allah Almighty to bring immense blessings, happiness, peace and security to everyone on this blessed day.”
“After all the fasting, prayers and charity in the sacred month of Ramazan, we should be thankful to Allah Almighty for bestowing all the blessings and happiness on us.”
“During Ramazan we submitted to will of Allah and followed the principles of compassion and generosity,” he said adding, “Eidul Fitr is the day to share our happiness with others and show generosity to the deprived sections of society.”
“On this auspicious day we should help the needy, poor, orphans and destitute and share happiness of Eid with them,” he continued.
The President said, “this auspicious occasion of Eid sends us the message that as a nation we are determined to overcome challenges, extend a helping hand to the needy and ready to work for a bright and prosperous future for everybody.”
“In our everyday lives we should make an effort to become a united and strong nation by showing brotherhood and tolerance and ensuring social and economic justice and mutual unity and solidarity,” he said, adding, “On behalf of the Pakistan nation, I want to give the message to the oppressed Muslims of Gaza and Palestine that the whole Pakistani nation express solidarity with you.”
He said, “We impress upon the international community to ensure immediate peace in Gaza and provision of assistance to the Palestinians. The oppression, barbarity and genocide by Israel is the gravest violation of human rights.”
The President said, “On this occasion of happiness, we should also not forget the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.”
He assured that the whole Pakistani nation stood with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters.
Pakistan would continue moral, diplomatic and political support to Kashmiris for the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute according to the United Nations resolutions and wishes of the Kashmiri people, he added.
The President said, “On the occasion of this blessed day, I pray for the welfare and prosperity of every Pakistani and the whole Muslim Ummah. May Allah Almighty shower His blessings on our nation and keep us on the path of righteousness and bless us with unity, peace and prosperity. Ameen!”

AJK PM directs departments to complete all ongoing projects without delay

MIRPUR, April 09 (APP):Azad Jammu Kashmir Prime Minister Ch. Anwaar ul Haq on Tuesday chairing a high level meeting directed the concerned departments to expedite the works on all ongoing development projects for timely completion.
Emphasizing the availability of sufficient funds for the initiatives, the AJK PM also directed the authorities  concerned to enhance the work on road infrastructure, particularly to bolster tourism in Azad Jammu Kashmir region.
Addressing the significance of a road network in attracting the domestic and foreign tourists, the AJK PM stressed the need to make swift progress on road projects.
The meeting was attended by ministers and senior government officials that focused on reviewing the advancement of development projects in various sectors including electricity, roads, health, education, and tourism.
The additional chief secretary development, Ms. Midhat Shahzad, provided a comprehensive overview of the progress being made on development projects and shared details during briefing to the AJK premier.
Those attended the meeting include Secretary Finance Lt. (retired) Islam Zaib, Accountant General Azad Jammu Kashmir Tafakhar Ali Asadi, and Irshad Qureshi, and AJK Chief Secretary Dawood Muhammad Barich through video link.

People’s welfare top agenda of federal govt: Muqam

SWAT, April 09 (APP):Federal Minister for States, Frontier Regions and Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs, Engr Amir Muqam on Tuesday said that federal government would make all out efforts to provide relief and continue welfare work for the people of remote and far flung areas.
The provision of uniformed and an indiscriminate services to people was the top priority of the federal government, he said while addressing media persons after holding party workers meeting here.
The minister said that an immature political party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is still using accusation and blame game against other political parties to divert people attention from its poor performance in the province.
He said that leaders of the immature political party had wasted time in accusations and blame games. He further stated that immature leaders of the political party could not concentrate on people’s welfare, economic and industrial development. He lamented that the country could not achieve economic success and development during the tenure of past leaders of the political party. People of Khyber Pakthunkhwa could not be deceived through hallow slogans any more and will make the immature political party accountable, he stated.
Despite winning 92 seats in KP, he said that PTI continued politics of blame game rather providing relief to its people. He said other provinces were making rapid progress while development race in KP had been very weak in the past.    Engr Amir Muqam said that some elements were using social media tools to keep people away from genuine political leadership but masses would frustrate the negative designs of such elements and make these so called leaders accountable.
Amir Muqam said that he has raised voice at every forum for people of Malakand Division and provided relief to its people after fighting the case of tax and customs duties exemption in federal cabinet in the last government.
He said his office door was open for all and genuine problems of party workers would be addressed on priority basis.

Visual storyteller Jimmy Nelson visits Pakistan

The Hague , Apr 09 (APP): Jimmy Nelson, a world-renowned visual storyteller based in Amsterdam had visited the Northern areas of Pakistan including the Kailash valley in Chitral and Baltoro glacier – one of the largest glaciers outside the Polar regions and near the world’s second highest mountain K2.
The Embassy of Pakistan, the Netherlands had facilitated Nelson’s visit to Pakistan with help of Pakistani authorities including Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). Ambassador Suljuk Mustansar Tarar met Nelson at his studio in Amsterdam where he shared his stories and documentation from his visit and expressed the interest to visit other parts of Pakistan.

Nelson narrates his journeys through indigenous cultures and lives through the lens of his camera. He has compiled three books of photography and stories including ‘Before They Pass Away’ and ‘Homage To Humanity.’ His work is also displayed as photo and immersive exhibitions in different parts of the world.

Pakistan was one of his first destinations as a young adventurer and photographer and he also visited the country recently. Ambassador Tarar said that the Embassy with the help of Pakistani authorities would continue to promote tourism in Pakistan and looked forward to Nelson’s next visit.

Sindh Governor to offer Eid prayers at Gulshan e-Jinnah

KARACHI, Apr 09 (APP):Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori will offer Eid prayers at Gulshan e-Jinnah (Old Polo Ground) at 8 am.
After namaz-e- Eid-ul-Fitr , a special prayer will be offered for the development and prosperity of the nation.
The Governor will share Eid greetings with people belonging to different walks of life at the Governor House from 10:00 am to 12:00 PM.
