PM calls UAE President to admire his leadership role during rains

ISLAMABAD, Apr 19 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday held a telephonic conversation with President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The prime minister’s call was centered on his admiration for the strong resolve and impeccable efficiency with which the UAE leadership had confronted the challenges that had emerged from the recent rains in the country, a PM Office news release said.

He lauded the UAE President, who had once again demonstrated his outstanding leadership qualities and proven his strong commitment to ensuring the welfare of the Emirati people.

The prime minister said that Pakistan had also witnessed heavy rains in recent days, resulting in loss of many precious lives. He called for collective actions to combat the challenge of climate change and suggested that both countries strengthen their collaboration in the field.

The UAE president expressed appreciation for the prime minister’s good wishes and reciprocated the warm sentiments for the people affected from rains and flooding in Pakistan.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhance bilateral cooperation in multifaceted areas.

PM for further strengthening economic, trade ties with Turkiye

ISLAMABAD, Apr 19 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday reiterated the government’s resolve to further strengthen economic relations and trade partnership with Turkiye.

He was talking to a delegation of the Turkish investors which called him here at the Prime Minister Office.

The Turkish investors, expressing confidence in the leadership of the prime minister, took keen interest in investing in Pakistan’s diverse areas.

The prime minister said the people of Pakistan and Turkiye had a long-standing brotherly relationship spanning centuries.

He said reforms had been made in the system to take full advantage of the potential of foreign investment in Pakistan.

Ambassador of Turkiye to Pakistan Mehmet Pacaci, CEO Terminal YAPI Cenk Coskun and other Turkish and Pakistani officials participated in the meeting.

Federal ministers Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Ahad Khan Cheema, Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal and relevant senior officials also attended the meeting.

The delegation thanked the prime minister for the warm welcome.

Modi govt broken all records of oppression to win elections: President AJK

MIRPUR-AJK, Apr 19 (APP): AJK President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry on Friday said that the Modi government has broken all records of oppression, barbarism and brutality in order to win the upcoming general elections in country.

During a meeting with Former Prime Minister of AJK Sardar Atique Ahmad Khan, Barrister Sultan Mehmood said that the Indian government was engaged in a sledgehammer policy in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) region.

He further said that India’s intelligence agency, RAW was engaged in global terrorist activities.

Both the leaders discussed various matters of mutual concern with a focus on the political and human rights situation in the occupied territory.

Sultan emphasized the importance of unity among all political parties in AJK to expose India’s nefarious designs and its efforts to suppress the legitimate struggle of Kashmiris.

BISP embraces E-procurement: launches inaugural tender

ISLAMABAD, Apr 19 (APP): In adherence to the “E-Pak-Procurement Regulations, 2023” stipulated by the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), Additional Secretary of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP)), Dr Muhammad Tahir Noor, marked a significant milestone on Friday by initiating E-Procurements within the organization.

The inaugural tender, titled “Procurement of Enrollment Slips with QR Code Receipts”, was officially launched through the E-Pak Acquisition and Disposal System (e-PADS) of PPRA here at the BISP Headquarters, said a news release.

The introduction of E-Procurements in BISP underscores the organization’s commitment to modernize its procurement processes in line with contemporary regulatory frameworks.

By leveraging e-PADS, BISP aims to streamline its procurement operations, enhance transparency, and ensure the efficient utilization of public funds.

Dr. Muhammad Tahir Noor, during the event, commended the implementation of E-Procurements in BISP as a pivotal step towards promoting accountability and efficiency.

He extended his appreciation to the BISP procurement team for their dedication and diligence in realizing this initiative.

Special literary session “Chai, Batian aur Kitabian” held at PAL

ISLAMABAD, Apr 19 (APP):The 19th special literary session of the series “Chai, Batian aur Kitabian” (Tea, Chat and Books) held here at Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL).
In his welcome remarks, Director General PAL Muhammad Asim Butt said that today was special session titled “Eid Milan Nishist” of the series “Chai, Batian aur Kitabian”.
Chairperson PAL Dr. Najiba Arif, Imdad Akash, Aamir Raza, Ms. Sanobar Nazar, Rana Ajmal Khan, Hafiza Amna Sadia and others were participated in the special session.
The speakers on the occasion shed light on the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence. They said that artificial intelligence has many benefits, there are also drawbacks.
The participants also agreed to organize a theater workshop at PAL Faiz Auditorium.  Chairperson PAL Dr Najiba Arif assured her full support in organizing a theater workshop at PAL.

Interior ministry decides to launch joint operation in Kacha area of Sindh

ISLAMABAD, Apr 19 (APP):Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, after consultation with all stakeholders in the interior ministry decided to conduct a joint operation in Kacha area of Sindh province, with full force to clear the area from dacoits.
An important meeting of the National Action Plan Implementation Review Committee was held at NACTA headquarters here on Friday under the chairmanship of the Interior Minister which was attended by Federal Interior Secretary, Head NACTA, DG FIA, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
IGs and provincial secretaries Interior besides National Coordinator NACTA, all teams of National Action Plan and Intelligence agencies and Chief Commissioners also attended the meeting.
The top brass after detailed brainstorming, decided to conduct a joint operation in the Kacha area with full force and close coordination between the provinces and all stake holders to clear the area from dacoits.
Detailed consultation and consideration was made to provide new modern technology to the police across Pakistan.
The meeting also carefully reviewed the measures taken regarding the security of Chinese citizens while All the IGs gave a detailed briefing on security and safety measures for Chinese citizens in Pakistan.
The meeting also decided to restrict the movement of those tourists who do not follow the prescribed SOPs.
The meeting also reviewed the foolproof security arrangements in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad during the Iranian President’s visit.
Any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated at all, said Mohsin Naqvi and added that strict disciplinary action will be taken for negligence in implementing the SOPs for the protection of foreign nationals.
The minister said that to eradicate terrorism, institutions should be equipped with modern technology while the Federation will provide all possible support to the provinces in this regard.
The minister said that Good progress has been made in the last few months to prevent smuggling and it has reduced substantially.
All institutions must ensure strict legal action against smugglers with a common strategy, he directed.

Barrister Gohar’s criticism against president Zardari, a ridiculous act: Sharjeel

KARACHI, Apr 19 (APP): Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport, Mass Transit, Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that Barrister Gohar attempted to increase his stature through criticism of President Asif Ali Zardari. He said that Gohar’s criticism was ridiculous.
In his statement, Sharjeel Inam Memon, remarked that following Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari emerged as a symbol of strengthening the federation. Zardari represents a metaphor for promoting democracy and discouraging non-democratic forces, he added.
Memon said President Zardari renamed KPK and granted Gilgit-Baltistan the status of a province.
He remarked that President Asif Ali Zardari strengthened the federation by championing the slogan of “Pakistan Khappe.” Additionally, President Zardari bolstered the federation by granting rights to the provinces through the Eighteenth Amendment. The tradition established by Asif Ali Zardari, exemplified by bringing ANP to the Senate, remains unprecedented in the political history of Pakistan, he expressed.
Sharjeel Inam Memon highlighted that the policies and actions of President Asif Ali Zardari played a crucial role in stabilizing democracy in the country and yielding positive effects on the nation.
He further emphasized that national development, stability, economic reforms, increasing investment and job creation have been the primary objectives of President Asif Zardari. It is crucial to acknowledge the significant role played by Asif Ali Zardari in the development and prosperity of Pakistan, he added.

IGP chairs meeting on foreigners’ security

KARACHI, Apr 19 (APP): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon chaired a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO) Karachi to review security arrangements for foreign nationals.

The IGP Sindh emphasized the need to establish a dedicated unit within the Special Branch equipped with modern security techniques tailored for the protection of foreigners.

He stressed the strict implementation of the standard operating procedures issued by the Government of Sindh regarding the security of foreign visitors/delegates and regular issuance of security advisories by the concerned officers.

Supervisory officers at the range, district, and zone levels were instructed to reassess security measures for foreigners to formulate a concrete and effective police strategy and submit a review report within three days.

The meeting also addressed the recent suicide attack on foreigners in Mansehra Colony, Landhi, Karachi. The IGP Sindh commended the swift and effective response of the police, which prevented the attack and ensured the safety of all foreigners involved.

Further discussions centered on enhancing security measures for all Chinese residents, experts and staff, and other foreign guests/delegates in Sindh.

IGP Memon reiterated the commitment of Sindh Police and security agencies to remain vigilant and foil any terrorist threats.

“The proactive stance and preparedness of law enforcement agencies underscore their determination to safeguard the lives and interests of foreign nationals within the province,” he added.

The meeting was attended by Additional IGPs from Karachi, CTD, DIGPs, Special Branch, CPEC, SP Foreigner’s Security Cell, and other senior police officers. DIGPs from Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, MirpurKhas, and Shaheed Benazirabad Police Ranges participated via video link.

Traffic Police launch cracks down on tinted glasses

ABBOTTABAD, Apr 19 (APP):The traffic police here on Friday  fined hundreds of vehicles for the use of tinted glass and issued final warnings.
The crackdown was launched as part of efforts to ensure road safety and enforce traffic regulations in the region.
According to the details, following the issuance of cancellation of tinted glass permission by the  Ministry of Interiour, the SSP Traffic, Tariq Mahmood  confirmed that all permits and licenses for tinted windows had been revoked.
Anyone found in possession of such permits would be considered fraudulent, and strict action would be taken against them, he added.
Under the supervision of DPO, Umar Tufail Khan, the traffic police, led by SSP Traffic Tariq Mahmood Khan, are conducting indiscriminate actions against violators of traffic laws.
During various checkpoints, 430 vehicles were heavily fined for removing tinted windows.
