Acting Consul-General visits Pengzhou city, China to promote relations
BEIJING, April 24 (APP): Acting Consul-General, Consulate General, Chengdu, China, Agha Hunain Abbas Khan visited Pengzhou, China.
During the visit, he met with senior representatives from the city government, had in-depth discussions to promote Pakistan-Pengzhou relations, and visited local businesses.
Pengzhou, a county level city located to the north of Chengdu is known as one of the agriculture hubs of China, with impressive economic development.
In the morning, the Acting-Consul-General visited the Pengzhou International Cities Exhibition Hall, and learnt about the 23 sister-city relations that Pengzhou had fostered over the years, and how the city government continued to exchange in meaningful dialogue to boost cross cultural and friendly exchanges.
Afterwards, visits to Chengdu Jinshixiu Clothing Co. Ltd, and Heaven Arts Cultural and Creative Park were made.
These businesses showcased the high-quality products that Pengzhou companies were producing, and views were exchanged how to better connect relevant Pakistani companies with Pengzhou ones for win-win cooperation.
Later on, Agha Hunain was briefed on the Tianfu Medicine City, and how the innovation center of the city, was engaged in producing modern traditional Chinese medicine.
In his meeting with Chen Geng, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee of Pengzhou City, Chen gave a comprehensive overview of the city, its strengths, and areas in which Pakistan and Pengzhou could deepen ties moving forward.
Agha Hunain thanked Chen for the warm reception, the detailed briefing, and conveyed, that the areas in which Pengzhou was excelling in, such as agriculture, traditional medicine, and logistics etc., were areas in which Pakistan and China had recently concluded agreements for cooperation, and were low hanging fruit to deepen bilateral ties.
In exchanges with the Mayor of Pengzhou, Jiang Ming, the two sides agreed to focus on practical steps to increase understanding, such as Pakistan participating in the International Fruit and Vegetable Fair of Pengzhou, to be held in November 2024.
Afternoon visits to Yonghui Logistics and its associated fresh food supply companies, demonstrated the effectiveness of the Chinese and Pengzhou urban development and transportation networks, and the e-commerce platform, which allows fresh produce, locally sourced, to reach the homes of thousands, in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Methods of having Pakistani high-quality fruit and vegetables available for Pengzhou and Sichuan consumers were also considered.
The fruitful day concluded with a visit to the Chengdu Yurun International Agriculture Products Trading Center, the second largest wholesale market for fruits and vegetables in all of China, and the largest in West and South-West China.
Int’l Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace observed
ISLAMABAD, Apr 24 (APP): The International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace was observed on Wednesday.
The purpose of observing the day was to reaffirm dedication to peace, sustainable development and protection of human rights.
The Day acknowledges the use of multilateral decision-making and diplomacy in achieving peaceful resolutions to conflicts among nations.
On 12 December 2018, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution “International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace” (A/RES/73/127), by a recorded vote of 144 in favour to 2 against. It was first observed on 24 April 2019.
Meanwhile, World Immunization Week also started on Wednesday. It aims to highlight the collective action to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease.

Iranian President leaves after 3-day Pakistan visit
KARACHI, Apr 24 (APP): President of Islamic Republic of Iran Dr Ebrahim Raisi has left for Tehran along with his delegation after completing three-day visit to Pakistan early on Wednesday morning.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah saw off the distinguished guest at Karachi Airport early morning.
During his three-day visit, the Iranian President held meetings with the President, Prime Minister, Chief of the Army Staff, Chairman Senate, Speaker of the National Assembly, and the chief ministers and governors of Sindh and Punjab.
Earlier, Iranian President, along with his spouse Dr Jamileh Alamolhoda and a high level delegation arrived the provincial capital and visited mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Dr Raisi also held meetings at CM House and addressed a ceremony attended by prominent personalities belonging to all walks of life including Ulema, leading businessmen, provincial ministers and the parliament members.
The Iranian President was also conferred with an honorary degree by Governor Sindh who is also Chancellor of Karachi University.
Meanwhile, the spouse of the Iranian President, Dr Jamileh also attended a seminar at IBA university as the chief guest.
Iranian President reiterates commitment to promote bilateral relation with Pakistan
KARACHI, Apr 24 (APP): President of Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raeesi, reiterating commitment to promote bilateral relations with Pakistan on Tuesday said that joint measures were being contemplated to bolster political, economic, commercial and public relations for the development and prosperity of the people of both countries.
He expressed the views while addressing eminent personalities from different walks of life at Chief Minister House Sindh during his visit of Karachi. Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, members of the provincial cabinet, religious scholars, representatives of the business community, higher government officials and diplomats were present at the occasion.
Dr. Syed Ibrahim Raisi termed the visit to Pakistan as the best opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields and said that both countries have agreed to increase bilateral trade initially to 10 billion dollars.
He said that the historical, cultural and religious relations between the two neighboring countries were spanned over centuries and the people of both the countries were ready to work together for peace, security, development and prosperity in the region.
He said that in the recent meetings with the President, Prime Minister and other higher officials of Pakistan, it has been agreed to stabilize Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations. He said that despite unfavorable conditions, Iran has made significant progress in industry, science and technology and Iran is ready to exchange its skills with Pakistan.
The Iranian president while reiterating commitment to removing trade barriers and exploring various possibilities of economic cooperation said that formal trade between the two countries is in the best interest of the people on both sides of the border while further strengthening the close relations will further bolster bilateral trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Iran.
The Iranian President said that he brought a message of peace to the people of Pakistan on behalf of the leadership and nation of Iran.
Dr. Syed Ibrahim Raisi emphasized on the need for unity and solidarity in the Muslim Ummah and said that all Muslim countries have to create mutual unity and agreement to deal with the pressing challenges.
While strongly condemning the Zionist aggression in Palestine and Gaza, he urged the international organizations to play their due role for stopping the atrocities being committed on the innocent people of Palestine.
The people of Palestine defeated the usurping Zionist forces with their struggle and perseverance, he said adding that the freedom of Palestine and Al-Quds is the first and foremost priority of the Islamic Ummah.
The Iranian president paid tribute to the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the poet of the East, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, and said that they struggled against the colonialism and gained freedom for the Muslims of the subcontinent.
He appreciated the people of Pakistan expressing their solidarity with Iran in every difficult hour and said that the Iranian people have feelings of love for Pakistan.
Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah welcomed the Iranian President and members of his delegation to Karachi and said that centuries old religious and cultural ties between Pakistan and Iran has strengthened with time.
From Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto to President Asif Ali Zardari, the leadership of PPP has always attached importance to the relations with Iran and we are determined to work together for the development and prosperity of the people of both countries.
He stressed that both the countries have to work together to eliminate menace of terrorism and illegal trade and to deal with the implications of environmental changes.
Emphasizing the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with the UN resolutions, he said that we all should unite and support our Palestinian brothers.
Syed Murad Ali Shah also highlighted the investment opportunities in Sindh and said that Sindh government was willing to promote trade, economic and investment relations with Iran.
