OPF increases concession in tuition fee from 25% to 50%

ISLAMABAD, Nov 29 (APP): Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) has increased concession in tuition fee from 25 percent to 50 percent for children of overseas Pakistanis studying in its various educational institutions.

Over 2500 children of overseas Pakistanis will be benefitted from this concession, a press release issued here on Tuesday said.

The decision was taken in 137th meeting of OPF Board of Governors held at OPF Head Office.

The meeting was chaired by Chairman OPF Board of Governors, Barrister Amjad Malik was attended by all Board Members including Federal Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Khizar Hayat Khan, Managing Director, OPF, Habib Ur Rehman Gilani, Capt. ® Shaheen Khalid (USA), Ch. Noor ul Hassan Tanvir (UAE), Muhammad Jahangir Minhas (AJK), Sahibzada Saeed Ahmed, Head (SSU), Waqar Ahmed, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui, Director, IBA Sukhar.

The board unanimously approved the Constitution of Overseas Pakistanis Advisory Council (OPAC) comprising overseas Pakistanis throughout the world.

The board also approved to celebrate “a week of overseas Pakistanis” from 18th to 23rd December in connection with international day of overseas Pakistanis on December 18.

It was resolved to initiate an E-Learning pilot project in UAE to provide education to children of overseas Pakistanis.

The board also permitted to take initiative to establish a Commission in Azad Jammu and Kashmir to protect rights of Kashmiri expatriates.

Addressing the meeting, the Chairman OPF Board of Governors, Barrister Amjad Malik said Pakistani expatriates are playing vital role in improving the economy of the country and they deserve special attention.

He said provision of more facilities and resolution of problems being faced by overseas Pakistanis is the top most priority of the government.
