ISLAMABAD, Oct 11 (APP):Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) inspected 220 petrol pumps of different Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and detected 59 pumps involved in compromising the standard announced by it.
“OGRA inspected 220 petrol pumps of the different OMCs and found 59 cases, where less filling was observed, show cause notices had been issued followed by hearing and imposition of penalties,” the official said.
He said that the gauges on the dispensers of Petrol Pumps and CNG stations are checked for accuracy by the Weight and Measurement Departments of each province under the Weight and Measurement Enforcement Rules, 1976.
The said Department of each province, he said, under Rule 9 (4) of the said Rules calibrates the gauges at the Petrol Pumps and CNG Stations issues a certificate for the period of one year.
OGRA in the best public interest carried out random inspection of the petrol pumps of the Oil Marketing Companies (OMC), he said adding OGRA also carries out annual safety inspection of operational CNG Stations to ascertain compliance to CNG Rules.
