LAHORE, May 28 (APP):Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on Thursday said that Youm-e-Takbeer is a symbol of Pakistan’s defence, sovereignty and national dignity, reaffirming the nation’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its security and independence.
In his message on Youm-e-Takbeer, the minister said that on May 28, 1998, then Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif responded to India’s nuclear tests by conducting six nuclear explosions, making Pakistan an invincible power. He termed the decision a historic milestone that strengthened the country’s defense and elevated the nation’s pride.
Hanif Abbasi said that Pakistan’s strategic importance in the world today is rooted in the courageous decision taken on Youm-e-Takbeer. He added that the day’s true message is the resolve never to compromise on national security.
The minister said that Pakistan’s nuclear programme established a balance of power in the region and enabled the country to emerge as a responsible, peaceful and strong nuclear state. He described Youm-e-Takbeer as a day to renew national unity, defense stability and self-confidence.
Paying tribute to the country’s scientists, engineers and armed forces, he said the nation salutes their sacrifices and contributions in strengthening Pakistan’s defence capabilities.
Referring to regional security challenges, Hanif Abbasi said that Pakistan has always ensured its defence with responsibility and strength in the face of Indian aggression. He added that the armed forces possess the capability and professional expertise to deal with all kinds of threats.
The minister noted that cyber warfare, modern technology and drone defense are becoming increasingly important elements of future warfare. He said the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces for the security, sovereignty and defense of Pakistan.
Hanif Abbasi warned that any act of adventurism or aggression would receive an immediate, effective and decisive response, adding that the green crescent flag would continue to fly high forever.
