Women parliamentarians term President's address balanced, comprehensive

ISLAMABAD, Jun 1 (APP): Women parliamentarians on Wednesday termed the fourth address of President Mamnoon Hussain to the joint sitting of the Parliament comprehensive and balanced, covering all the national issues.

Talking to APP after the President’s address, Member of National Assembly Tehmina Daultana said “President Mamnoon Hussain elaborated the performance of the government as well as the challenges being faced by the nation”.

She said, the law and order situation had been improved in the country and it was made possible only with the support of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

Daultana said, significant improvement was visible in the energy sector in terms of reduced load-shedding hours which was the outcome of the present government’ seriousness toward the masses’ issues.

The President highlighted the achievements of the government in all sectors including education, energy, economy, agriculture and others, she said.

Mentioning the project of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) worth US $ 46 billion, she said “it would be a mega step towards improving economy and creating jobs for the people”.

Meanwhile, Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Marvi Memon said President Mamnoon Hussain described the goals, achievements and policies of the government in his speech.

About the upcoming budget, she said “With the efforts of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and as per vision of the Prime Minister, it would be the best and balanced budget carrying incentives for each sector”.

MNA Belum Hasnain urged the government to give subsidy on food items in the upcoming budget especially during the month of Ramzan to provide relief to the masses.

She said, the prices of different commodities increases on the eve of every budget. The government, however, must ensure that the prices of food items should not increase to facilitate the common people, she added.

Commenting on the President’s speech, she appreciated his gesture for inviting the opposition to join hands with the government to fight the challenges being faced by the country.

“President Mamnoon clearly stated that without the support of opposition the government cannot bring prosperity in the country,” she said while urging the opposition to extend support to the government.

Senator Khushbakht Shujaat said, President Mamnoon Hussain addressed the joint session of the Parliament gracefully and patiently despite interruptions by the opposition which was remarkable.

She said, “President Mamnoon Hussain discussed all the government’s priorities, achievements and goals successfully during his fourth address to the parliament”.

She said, “the presidential address always follow a set pattern and criticism or any debate over the speech is useless”.

About the upcoming budget, she urged the government to allocate more funds for education sector to provide maximum opportunities to the youth to excel and face modern day challenges.

She also termed the female education as crucial, saying “educated mothers can better educate the future generations”.

Asiya Nasir said “President Mamnoon Hussain elaborated the internal and external challenges being faced by the country which reflect his commitment to the nation”.

She said the President urged the opposition to join hands with the government to resolve the crisis which was encouraging in the current situation.

MNA, Zeb Jaffar said President Mamnoon Hussain, in his speech, mentioned development activities undertaken by the government in all the sectors comprehensively.

The President mentioned the development projects in various sectors including education, energy, agriculture, industries and communication and emphasized on `strengthening economy for stronger Pakistan’.
