With addition of new aircraft, PIA’s fleet expands to 38

ISLAMABAD, Dec 6 (APP): With addition of another Boeing 777-200 ER aircraft, the total number of aircraft in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)’s fleet has risen to 38.
In addition to the latest induction, the national flag carrier had included a Boeing 777-200 ER aircraft purchased on dry lease in its fleet on November 18.The addition of these aircraft in a couple of week is a part of PIA management’s efforts to further expand the fleet and induct more fuel efficient aircraft, according to a PIA spokesman here.It is for the first time in the history of PIA that a series of modern aircraft have been added to the national flag carrier’s fleet in such a short period of time, Chairman PIA stated while commenting on the induction of another Boeing 777 aircraft. He said that induction of the incoming aircraft would further
improve the national airline’s passenger carrying capacity.The aircraft, to be used for both long and short haul flights,would start operating after completion of all formalities later this
month.According to Spokesman of Aviation Division, Boeing 777 aircraft’s are
the most modern and reliable aircraft in the aviation industry round the world.
He said, in a short period of time and under the vision of the Prime Minister and Special Assistant to PM on Aviation, Shujaat Azeem, PIA has managed to streamline its operations by grounding 20 years old aircraft (B-737 & B-747) and bringing in new fuel efficient and modern fleet. This new aircraft Boeing 777 will serve passengers over long haul
routes, i.e. UK, Europe, USA and Canada while new destinations will be opening up soon.
He informed that all the reservation and booking offices of the national flag carrier would be renovated and given a new look.The passengers would be provided facilities at par the
international standard at these offices, he added.The cabin crew are being sent abroad for special courses in a bid to further facilitate the passengers on modern lines.
