The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Faisalabad achieved major institutional and service delivery milestones during the year 2025 by recording revenue recovery of Rs. 4.17 billion and registering a billing efficiency of more than 99 per cent, reflecting strong financial discipline, improved sewerage services and accelerated digital reforms.
A WASA spokesman said here on Wednesday that an official performance statement was issued on the directives of Secretary Housing Noor-ul-Amin Mengal which revealed that WASA Faisalabad recorded a billing efficiency of 99.74 percent while physical collection during fiscal year 2024-25 stood at 70.20 percent and financial collection efficiency at 80.40 percent.
The ratio between operational expenditures and income remained at 1.24, indicating improved financial sustainability, he added.
The statement highlighted that the Faisalabad Waste Water Treatment Plant has been formally inaugurated while water and wastewater development projects along with solarization initiatives have further strengthened the utility’s operational capacity. Under strict financial discipline, the process of annual commercial audits has been regularly maintained, he added.
He said that WASA Faisalabad supplied 1,465.23 million gallons of water per month, providing citizens with an average of 40 gallons per capita per day and approximately five hours of daily water supply.
Chemical testing of water samples remained satisfactory while biologically non-compliant samples were limited to only one percent, reflecting improved water quality standards, he added.
During the previous month, only a limited number of complaints related to water supply, sewerage and revenue were received.
The utility reported that 4.32 employees per thousand water connections and 3.03 employees per thousand sewerage connections were deployed for service delivery.
Overall, 84.97 percent of the city’s population has access to water supply while 87.05 percent benefits from sewerage services, with area-based water coverage at 13.94 percent and sewerage coverage at 18.25 percent.
The statement further revealed that 91.51 percent of active electric meters are connected to the national grid while the share of solar and alternative energy reached 2.97 percent.
An agreement has been finalized with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under a grant-in-aid arrangement for the installation of smart water meters to enhance efficiency and transparency.
The progress was also reported on the Rs10.6 billion Faisalabad Development Package, with over 50 percent of the work already completed.
Meanwhile, trial operations of the Jhal Surface Water Treatment Plant with a capacity of 5 MGD have commenced.
In line with the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, WASA Faisalabad is also introducing an integrated sewerage system to further improve urban services and public convenience, he added.
