The event, presided over by Mr Tamsum and attended by members of the Kashmiri diaspora and local civil society, focused on the prevailing human rights situation in the disputed region.

The speakers criticised the Indian judicial system, alleging that recent convictions stem from political expression rather than criminal conduct, and linked them to longstanding UN resolutions on Kashmir.

They also voiced concern over escalating rights violations by Indian forces as they described, including the alleged misuse of anti-terror laws to curb dissent and detain activists without due process.

Mr Wani urged members of the Kashmiri diaspora to step up outreach efforts in their host countries, calling on them to engage civil society and raise awareness about the Kashmir issue.

Mr Tamsum reiterated his organisation’s commitment to international advocacy, stressing the need for a peaceful resolution of the dispute in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
