ISLAMABAD, Mar 30 (APP):Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan on Monday chaired a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office to launch the nationwide “Walk Pakistan” initiative, aimed at engaging young people across the country through a 14 to 18 day cross country walk from Lahore to Islamabad to promote national unity, cultural integration and healthy lifestyles.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders from government, semi-government and service sectors, with both in-person and virtual participation to ensure wider engagement.
Naveed Sherwani, Sabahat Rafique and Kamran Lashari were appointed to a working group responsible for coordinating and executing the programme.
Officials said the initiative would feature participants from all provinces, including women, students, sports personalities and media representatives, ensuring broad based national participation.
The walk will commence from Minar-i-Pakistan in Lahore and conclude in Islamabad, passing through major cities where cultural events and youth engagement activities will be held to highlight Pakistan’s diversity and heritage.
Registrations will be carried out through the Digital Youth Hub platform to streamline coordination, while comprehensive security and logistical arrangements will be put in place to ensure a smooth experience for participants.
The initiative is also expected to support local economies by promoting tourism, hospitality, transport and small businesses along the route.
Officials described “Walk Pakistan” as a strategic effort to channel youth energies into constructive activities, fostering unity, peace and a shared national spirit while showcasing the role of young people in the country’s development.
