ISLAMABAD, Nov 04 (APP): Vice Admiral Ahmed Saeed HI(M) (Retd) has made history as the first Pakistani to receive an Honorary Doctorate from the Netherlands Maritime University College, Malaysia, awarded on Nov 4, 2025 during its 9th Convocation in Johor Bahru.
The Ministry of Education Malaysia has approved an Honorary Doctorate Degree for Vice Admiral, following the recommendation of the Senate of the Netherlands Maritime University College (NMUC).
The honorary degree celebrates Vice Admiral Saeed’s exceptional contributions to global maritime strategy, policy development, the blue economy, and sustainable maritime practices. His visionary leadership has played a pivotal role in shaping regional and international maritime frameworks.
The conferment of this honorary doctorate not only marks a personal milestone but also symbolizes the strengthening of academic and strategic ties between Malaysia and Pakistan. It stands as a testament to Vice Admiral Saeed’s lifelong commitment to maritime excellence and his enduring impact on the global maritime community.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Education, NMUC, representatives from international maritime and academic institutions.
He actively participates in global and regional forums such as IISS (UK), NESA (USA), KMI (South Korea), Nor-Shipping (Norway), APLN (South Korea), VERTIC (UK), Harbin, Fudang & Sichuan Universities (China), IMO (London), LIMA’25 & ICMLP-25 (Malaysia), and Xiangshan dialogue 25 (China).
