ISLAMABAD, Jun 18 (APP):Federal Minister for Communications on Thursday said the signing of the historic Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran marks a significant breakthrough in global diplomacy and demonstrates that even the most complex disputes can be resolved through dialogue and strategic diplomacy.
In a statement issued here, the minister by successfully facilitating this historic agreement, Pakistan has once again proven its importance as a key guarantor of regional peace and global stability. Abdul Aleem Khan congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his visionary leadership, tireless efforts, and unwavering commitment to conflict resolution. He noted that under the Prime Minister’s guidance, Pakistan’s diplomatic standing and leadership on the international stage have reached unprecedented heights.
The minister further stated that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir deserves special appreciation and the highest recognition for his dedication, selfless efforts, and pivotal role in advancing this complex diplomatic process and helping make this historic achievement possible.
Abdul Aleem Khan also highly commended Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for his outstanding diplomatic engagement, as well as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for ensuring effective administrative and operational coordination throughout the process. He emphasized that both leaders played indispensable roles in securing this landmark peace agreement.
He expressed sincere gratitude to Pakistan’s brotherly nations—the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Türkiye, and the Arab Republic of Egypt—for their strategic and constructive support, which proved instrumental in achieving this success. The Minister also paid tribute to President Donald J. Trump and his negotiating team, as well as to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian, for their wise decisions and vision in choosing the path of peace.
He noted that the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the end of the maritime blockade would not only provide much-needed economic relief but would also enhance the security of global trade routes and contribute to lasting stability across the region.
Abdul Aleem Khan expressed hope that this Memorandum of Understanding would serve as a strong foundation for shared prosperity, mutual respect, and long-term cooperation. He concluded by saying that Pakistan stands tall today as a dignified nation committed to promoting global peace.
