US Consul General meets Shehbaz Sharif

LAHORE, Dec 14 (APP): American Consul General Yuriy Fedkiw met
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, here on Wednesday.
Matters of mutual interest, promotion of Pak-US relations and
cooperation in different sectors were discussed in the meeting.
The Chief Minister said that ties between America and Pakistan
were multidimensional which would be further strengthened in future
while cooperation in different sectors would also be increased.
He said that Pakistan was making rapid progress under the leadership
of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the situation in the
country had substantially improved during last three and a half
years.
He said that Pakistan was more safe, peaceful and bright today
than before. He said the government had promoted merit at every
level while transparency in development projects had been ensured.
Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan was a peaceful country and
wanted harmonious relations with its neighbors. He said that Pakistan
had made unprecedented sacrifices in the war against terrorism due
to which there was peace and tranquility in the country. He said that
the whole nation was determined to rid the country of the menace of terrorism.
The Chief Minister said that setting up of a society based on
moderation and tolerance was the mission of the government and
sincere efforts were being made to transform Pakistan into a
welfare state in accordance with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam
Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said that monitories had equal rights
in the country.
The American Consul General appreciated the measures taken under
the leadership of Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for
the progress and prosperity of the province. He said that
development projects initiated in the province would usher in
a new era of development and progress while better facilities
would become available to the citizens. He also lauded the
measures taken in the province to eliminate child labour and
safeguard the rights of brick kilns workers.
