US congressional delegation calls on Ayaz Sadiq
ISLAMABAD, Jul 28 (APP):A United States congressional delegation led by Representatives Ryan Zinke and Michael Baumgartner on Tuesday called on Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
Ayaz Sadiq extended a warm welcome to the visiting US Congressional Delegation.
Chargé d’Affaires Ms. Natalie A. Baker was also present on the occasion.
The meeting was focused on Pak–US bilateral relations and parliamentary cooperation.
Ayaz Sadiq reiterated that Pakistan attached great importance to its longstanding relationship with the United States, which was founded on mutual respect, trust and shared interests.
He said that parliamentary diplomacy could play a pivotal role in strengthening bilateral relations.
The Speaker stressed the need to further expand parliamentary exchanges and cooperation between the legislatures of Pakistan and the United States of America.
Ayaz Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace, stability and diplomatic solutions in the region.
He said that Pakistan had consistently supported restraint, dialogue and de-escalation during the recent regional tensions, adding that diplomacy and dialogue remained the most effective means of resolving disputes.
The US Congressmen thanked Ayaz Sadiq for the warm welcome and hospitality.
They appreciated Pakistan’s positive and constructive role during the Iran–US conflict and acknowledged its efforts in promoting regional peace and stability.
