University of London’s delegation calls on Law Minister

ISLAMABAD, Jan 12 (APP):A delegation led by Professor Philip Allmendinger, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education), University of London, Monday met the Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, to discuss cooperation in the field of legal education.
Director, Directorate of Legal Education, (DLE) Barrister Usama Malik was also present during the meeting accompanied by Saad Wasim regional Advisor University of London.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between international institutions and local universities through joint and partnership-based academic programmes.
The Minister emphasized that such collaborations would help improve the quality of legal education, create sustainable revenue streams, and expand access to globally recognized qualifications.
He highlighted the importance of combining distance learning with on-campus academic activities to equip students with modern legal skills while enabling them to practice effectively within the local legal framework.
Barrister Usama Malik apprised the Minister about the inclusion of the Pakistani law module on the advice of the Directorate of Legal Education within the University of London LLB (hons) curriculum, as this would have a far-reaching impact on the capacity of UOL law graduates in Pakistan.
Faculty development and capacity building, including faculty exchange and training programmes, were also discussed. Professor Philip Allmendinger expressed gratitude for the constructive engagement, while the Federal Law Minister assured full cooperation from Pakistan’s side to promote meaningful and long-term academic partnerships.
