UK delegation visits Rescue Headquarters & Academy

LAHORE, Mar 26 (APP):A delegation from the International Emergency Team United Kingdom (IETUK) Tuesday visited the Rescue Headquarters and Emergency Services Academy to provide training in the specialised fields of the urban search and rescue, etc.

The delegation, led by Mehrban Sadiq, National Chair of International Emergency Team UK, which was comprising over 7 members including Daryal Paul Opery, former director of the Service Delivery & Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Humberside and Rescue Service lead for quality inclusion National Joint Councils, Stephen Garcia, ex-station manager, Humberside and Rescue Service, Zeeshan Ayub Fire Cadet Crew Manager, Tyne & Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWFRS), Haroon Rashid, Health and Safety Public Housing Section, England & Wales, Salford University, Manchester, Rashid Sadiq and Akser Ali volunteers and Sahibzada Irfan Shah General Secretary of IETUK.

The British Fire and Rescue experts, during their visit, inspected the academic facilities, training simulators (Fire Fit Challenge, Fire Tower & Fir Burn House), piratical sessions of fire trainings including fire-fighting, fire prevention, fire investigation, risk assessment, fire hazard and also reviewed training module.

The delegation appreciated the presence of professional quality instruments in the Emergency Services Academy and expressed satisfaction over the environment and the available resources of fire and safety shall be supportive for teaching of professional courses of fire investigation, risk assessment, firefighting, fire safety and the mental health wellbeing of firefighters.

Dr Rizwan Naseer, Director General Rescue 1122, while briefing the visiting UK delegation, said that in order to ensure advance training of instructors/ fire rescuers in accordance with International standards. He said the UK serving and retired fire personnel and fire cadets are helping in ensuring the standard of the training imparted to the Rescuers at the Emergency Services Academy as per British standards.
