Two posts of judges vacant in IHC, NA told

ISLAMABAD, Dec.16 (APP): Minister for Law and Justice Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Thursday said that the sanctioned strength of judges in the Islamabad High Court is seven while two posts of judges are vacant since 2011.

In a written reply to a question of Ms Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak about details of posts of judges laying vacant in the Islamabad High Court, the Minister said that two nominations are under consideration by the Judicial Commission for appointment as judges of Islamabad High Court.

He said on insertion of Article 175-A in the constitution through 18th and 19th amendments, three steps procedures has been prescribed for appointment of judges in the superior courts i.e, nomination by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan , confirmation by the Parliamentary Committee and appointments by the President.

He said after completion of above three steps procedure, formal notification for appointment of judges has to be issued by Ministry of Law and Justice. Hence Law and Justice Division is not in a position to give tentative date of filling-up vacancies, he added.
