AHMEDPUR EAST, Apr 14 (APP)::Minister for Education and Professional Training Engineer Balighur Rahman said on
Saturday that recent leaving of the Pakistan Muslim League-N by some politicians would not dent the party.
He was addressing a big gathering here after Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi inaugurated a 45-kilometre long Jalalpur
Pirwala-Uch Sharif section of N-5 highway. The road has been completed with Rs5 billion as part of 142-km long Multan-Taranda
Muhammad Panah Road.
Balighur Rahman said that those who recently left the party
were actually opportunists. He hailed the people of south Punjab
who had unwavering loyalty with the PML-N.
He said that majority of politicians from south Punjab
including Federal Minister for National Food Security and
Research Haji Sikandar Hayat Bosan, Minister for Power Division
Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Minister of State for Overseas
Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Abdur Rahman Kanju and
many others were still part of the PML-N.
He thanked former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for carrying
out record development in Bahawalpur and Ahmedpur East.
He said that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was an
honest, wise and hard working leader who played an active role in
overcoming power crisis in the country while serving as federal
minister for petroleum and natural resources. He imported LNG in
shortest possible time at reduced price and established LNG
terminal that enabled power generation plants to generate
electricity.
He said that Nawaz Sharif was fighting for the people and
added that verdict of the people should prevail.
He said that the party would win the next general election
with majority.
He recalled that it was the PML-N that got approved the
resolutions in Punjab Assembly in 2012 regarding establishment of
new provinces of Bahawalpur and south Punjab. However, he added,
after the 2013 general elections, the party had only simple
majority in the National Assembly and had lower number of seats
in Senate. He said that two-third majority was required for
the purpose.
Balighur Rahman said that consensus among all parties was
essential for creation of new provinces but the PTI and the PPP
had opposed the demand for Bahawalpur province.
He said that the tenure of the PML-N government was almost
complete. He added that since 2013 PML-N government had to face
difficulties and sit-ins but despite all odds, the government
continued to work for development of the country and welfare
of the people.
He criticised dictators stating that Sutlej river had dried
up during the tenure of a dictator. He said that people of this
area had lost the water of Sutlej river despite the fact that
according to international understanding on water sharing of
rivers, the lower riparian get higher share.
He demanded that Bahawalpur and Ahmedpur East should be
linked to motorway through Express ways.
Earlier, MPAs Sardar Khalid Mahmood and Qazi Adnan Fareed
also addressed the gathering and demanded district status for
Ahmedpur East and construction of a big tertiary health care
facility there.
